Should I buy 80GB PS3 for 175$?

Friend needs rent money and he wants to sell his ps3 for 175$ to me with star wars unleashed he had it since june. it 80GB
 
BC = Backwards Compatible. The 80-Gig model PS3 is the one that came with the Metal Gear Solid bundle, and was the last PS3 model released in the U.S. to feature any Backwards Compatibility. It also had four USB ports, as opposed to the current two, and all of the memory card slots on the front. Although its BC is software-based, and thus not as complete as the hardware-supported earlier models, it is still considered to be one of the best versions of the PS3 available. (the previous 60-Gig models have been known to have issues with their lasers, a problem that had been cleared up by the time the 80-Gig came around)

So yes, $175 would probably be a great price for a fully-functional 80-Gig PS3. In fact, I would strongly recommend that you NOT trade it in to acquire a PS3 Slim. Although the PS3 Slim's form factor is quite attractive, you would technically have a more full-featured and capable package with the 80-Gig model.
 
o_O well i still got my PS2 for my video games, which lasted me since release date and not having any trouble other than to load the game takes 1-2mins.

Dont care much about linux thing on PS3 80GB...

But i find it attractive for 120GB + less energy user, smaller, and quiter....

=P so i am thinking i still trade it in for new PS3 slim around Christmas..... which if the deal still stays with Gamestop..... i need only like 180$ dollars

but after having it till than and wont matter too me much i just keep it and use money instead on games =)
 
If its BC I would say to uses the extra money you would be spending on the PS3 Slim and just upgrade the HDD yourself. You get get a 500GB HDD for $120. Also you never know when your current PS2 might finally bite the dust.

I think i guess i buy it, for 175$ and than buy with extra money that i would use to get slim. get myself, little big planet, metal gear solid 4, disgea 3, and infamous that i wanted to play badly =)

If he has only had it since June I would take this option.
