(made by tapwave, msrp $399 )they look pretty sweet with the pda functions and all, plus w/ there are emulators for snes, genesis, atari, nes, neo geo pocket, sega master system, game boy, gameboy color, etc. that all run on this device. Add in the mp3 player, the touch screen, and the sweet graphics and I"m about to the point of droping some serious money on one. I was just wondering if anyone had ever had one of these and if they would recommend it or not? Thanks

If it can emulate all of those systems perfectly, then sure why not get one if you can afford it?

I had one over a year ago, the first few days it came out. Basically, horrible software support, and buggy hardware (broken analog stick) = me quickly returning it. I read that people have returned theirs, some up to 4 times, to try to get a "working" unit. I'd rather save myself the trouble .

In a word. No

As has been said the stick isnt very sturdy and may break under excessive use, emmulators may exist but you should probably ask just how good they are because they may only play a couple of games slowly and with graphical bugs(I'd suggest hitting a couple of zodiac forums and see if anyones asking for updated versions good signifier of whats not perfect) And of course the software.... bleh.

It's not worth 400 bucks.

i have a Zodiac 1 and i like it a lot, but i don't have that much time any more and i am trying to sell it, and it does emulate all of those pretty much perfectly, there are like 1 or 2 games that SNES has a problem with

I just bought a pocket pc (dell axim x50) about a month ago and I love it! It plays all gameboy, nes, genesis, and most snes roms perfectly (except graphically intensive games like Mario RPG). The biggest problem with my ppc however is that controlling it is horrible since the d-pad is between the four major buttons. So I would imagine that the zodiac would play really well considering its format is very similar to a controller. I'm not sure about the processing speed though of the Zodiac. I have 520mhz and, like I said, it runs most games pretty flawlessly. Just make sure the zodiac processor is up to par. And having a ppc as an mp3 player is fantastic. I don't know why people pay $300+ for ipods when they could buy a pda that can play music, movies, and games for the same price.

heres a picture and as you can see controls aren't really a problem

The Zodiac has received accolades from numerous websites and magazines...I wouldn't hesitate if you're looking for a palm-based PDA. The screen is beautiful too.

It looks interesting, but for $400 you need to think about how much you really are going to use it. Also, certain games might not control as well using analog. Personally, i'd save the money. $400 isn't a lot of money by any means, but i'd probably put it toward something that I know i'll be using in a few years (like DVR or Sirius Radio, if not stock or 401k). It matters how much $400 means to you.

I very much enjoy my GP32. Some people have issues with the stick but I havent had any personally. It's a lot cheaper and very open but the obvious problem is the lack of official games(there are only like 4 or 5 games that are import friendly but yo might not enjoy them all, There's a action RPG currently being translated to english though) this leads to falling back on emmulators (most 8bit are near perfect, 16bit is playable but some with and without sound at the moment but improving) and the home brew games with seem to drop on a weekly basis but they lack depth tending to be puzzle games but usually well made ones.

There's also the Beats of Rage mods which are often very cool.
I got the zodiac and it hasn't left my hands since.
It's awesome!
according to your collection, you also don't have GBA DS or PSP. I'm just looking for some comparisons. hence it's time for you to get DS and PSP hehe.
