Should I get rid of all these old magazines?

I have a ton of old issues of video game magazines. From Nintendo Power, to Game Pro, to EGM, etc. Should I hold onto these? Or just toss them? I don't know if there worth keeping. They are sitting in boxes in my basement.

I've been asking myself the same questions. I have a shitload of old video game mags, going back to "The Nintendo Fun Club" sitting in my closet. I kind of want to trash most of them, but I wasn't sure if they are of any value.

The Nintendo Fun Club and the first issue of Nintendo Power are worth a little bit (you could probably get $20 for the first issue of NP... not sure how much for the Nintendo Fun Club, but I'd guess more than $20). I have no idea on all the other magazines though.

Thanks, but those are actually the few mags that I wouldn't mind keeping. ;)

Try and see if you can find someone to take them off your hands before you toss them. I'm about to give a bunch of my old magazines to a friend of mine who is a big game collector. Most of them are Game Informers, EGM, Nintendo Power, GMRs, etc from the past 2-3 years. There's some older stuff I'm planning to keep, though.

I'd love tot ake some old EGMs/N Powers, but shippiong is such a bitch for those things. You should scan them, and upload them to a website.....in fact, that'd be pretty sweet. an Archive of old Game mag scans that you can go through.

Anyone want to undertake a little venture?

I keep getting tempted to toss mags and then I remember that everytime I do, I regret it later.

I had a shitload of EGMs and Diehards from the 1990s (the SNES Genny days) and dumped all of them about 8 years ago . . . I'd love to page through them.

If anyone has mags they want to get rid of, I may pay shipping . . . plus a little for trouble.

I keep some and I throw away others. Ive kept all my Next Gen Gaming mags from a while back, and I currently keep all my Hardcore Gamer, and Play issues. But I toss EGM, Game Informer, and OPSM into the trash every few months. A few years back when I was moving I gave away stacks of old Gamepros and EGMs from the 16 bit era to a friend of mine who is a big collector, so those didnt go to waste. But if I kept everything Id have a friggin library of magazines! lol

I have a bunch of EGMs & CGWs from the late 90s and early 00s. They'll be worth something eventually but I'm not sure the pain of storing them until that day is worth it.

i just sold a ton of mine to a dude on gametz, those old mags just take up space, put them on ebay and good riddance.

I do still have some old issues of turboplay, the turbografx magazine. i need to unload them

Funny that this thread appeared as how I just threw out a stack of EGM, Computer World, OPM, etc. two days ago. I just kept some of the demo discs.

Older NP issues are the only ones that you'll ever see money back from on ebay. I've seen the first nintendo fun club go for over a $100 on ebay, and the second and third for over $50. Numbers 4-7 are more common, but can still get you maybe $10-$15 total.

I've thrown away almost all my old gaming mags. My car mags, however, no way. I still have an issue of Hot Rod from May 1995...1969 Camaro that goes over 200mph in street trim. Pure black. God I love it...

I got rid of all my old PC Gamer mags several years ago. The only mags I held on to for a while were issues of Next Generation. I ended up getting rid of those after a little while longer. Funny thing is, I started thinking back to Next Generation (as a good industry magazine, at least coving the topics more than just being a mouth piece for the marketing departments for publishers) and wondered if anyone had scans of them online.

After doing a few searches, I found a guy in my town that was trying to unload a LOT of issues he had from his subscription days. I contacted him and he still had em. I drove over and picked them up. I've had a blast re-reading (and reading the ones I didn't have before) and taking a look back in time at the industry. Many issues then are STILL issues today...movie games that suck, game movies (films) that suck, violence in games, etc., etc.

I didn't get every issue, so I've tried to find the last few of them to complete the collection. I'm currently readin the issue from March 1999 leading up to the launch of the Dreamcast (one of my favorite systems). It will be interesting when I get to the Playstation pre-launch time and see what smoke and mirror tactics they were using then (like now with the PS3...lol).

I say if the mags are just fluff articles with reviews/etc. you can probably get rid of them without any real big regret. However, if you have a sentamental attachment to the mags (or games they cover), or, would like to go back and re-read some of the info, then hang on to them. We actually have a magazine rack in one bathroom with some old gaming mags just to flip thru. :}
If you post a list of issues, I'd love to pay shipping to take some mags off of your hands...
Same here, so long as the price(s) is/are right (not to mention the issues ;)). Anyone willing to post a list or two?

i just threw away about 450 old video game magazines i've been saving for years. i would read some of the oldies every once in a while for kicks, but after a while, i just couldn't take the clutter. my local thrift stores didn't want them either, so into the recycling bin they went.

I have magazines in my tradelist.

Free to any good home. Just come pick up or pay shipping (exact cost, no profits).
