Show Your Ink Thread

Quick question:

I've been using the original formula A+D ointment on my tattoo twice a day, and will continue to do so for another few days before switching to Lubriderm. Tonight I was applying the ointment and, since the skin is peeling around, I had some small spots of skin on my hand...but the skin is the color of the ink; is this normal or should I stop using the A+D?

I'll be pissed if I'm just draining the color with the ointment.

I noticed when I got my dragon tattoo and used the A+D baby oinment that it made the ink drain, and I had to get my tat re-done. I think it's best to put nothing on for the first two weeks, and just keep it clean. My star tattoos on the other hand, I never put anything on them until they were completely healed and set in, and they're turned out very dark.

So I would avoid Neosporin, A+D, lotion, and anything else that may lead to your ink not properly drying and setting.

My tattoo artist said not putting on lotion would make it fade. Colored skin chunks are normal though. The needle did pierce the skin and push ink through it. The colored skin is generally just the outter layer falling off after being ripped to hell.

If you let it get too dry it'll crack and you're hosed. If you keep it too moist you'll wash the ink out.

Don't pick at it and try to avoid moving the area too much before it heals.

Bump because I found a pic of my tattoo saved on my comp.
