Showing off my store with my new digital camera. (56k warning 30 pics)

I plan to start a used game section at the site...I think I will start a seperate category just for used games.

You mean its not NCO-GEO???? Oh shit! (it was a mistake from the sign company)

Also I do believe I already posted a link to my about us page which has our location, hours, and phone info.

Here is it again for the lazy.

As for how many of the games have I played...more than 5% for sure...how MUCH of each game I have played is rather little. I just try a level or two of most games. We open almost all the new releases that are interesting and thats been for years now. So I may have actually tried about 80% off all games released in the past 8 years. Few games I find interest me enough to play past the first level. I can name every game in the last 10 years I have finished...not a long list.

Tomb Raider
Resident Evil
Vanishing Point (excellent racing DC game)
Worms
Worms Armageddon
Gran Turismo
Soul Calibur
Baldurs Gate
Dead to Rights (some hated this game but I loved it)

very few that I really really enjoyed enough to play more than 10 minutes

Thats just console. I am more of a PC gamer...always have been. I played Doom I and II over and over and over. Quakes I rock and then Half-Life...now for the last 1 1/2 I have put hundreds of hours into Counter-Strike. I just bought Condition Zero and its fabulous. I immediately killed my CS server and started a CZ server. Its wonderful. Another 1000 hours will wasted.

I have a Pentium 4 3.2 ghz HT system waiting for Doom III and HL2 to be released. I will buy a $400 graphics card when they do. I have bought a new PC with every major id release. I will make no exception for Doom III. Those that don't know can keep playing Final Fantasy.

BTW-I have never played ANY of the Final Fantasy RPGs. Not even for 5 minutes. I find them horrifyingly boring with things to read and quest after quest. That's just my opinion and preference though.

Wow..........I'm speechless......By any chance, do you have Bubble Bobble for GameGear, GameBoy, or the Japanese import of Bubble Bobble Old and New for GBA? I have been looking for those games forever.

oh and in this picture you can see my 35 inch TV that I have play on. Most people walk in and glare at the TV in envy. I have the same one at home. I know there are bigger TVs now but I have had that TV for years now.

Next TV will be 42 inch plasma.

that SNES wall just looked amazing, even when gamestop had their entire inventory of games out before they got rid of them all it was nothing like that.

you should def. start selling used games online. I think it would help you increase sales a lot, and more people would be able to cash in on some of the rare stuff you have.

Remember I mentioned a HUGE collection of games I had saved up over the years...well just about the only thing I kept was an enourmous selection of NES games. I must have about 800 titles in boxes.

I could easily fill a store twice my current size with what I have in storage and just filling out my current product. I didnt even take pics of the floor behind the cabinets which are just pilled up with boxes of games.

Oh well...

I am in the Bronx but used to hang around the Village a lot before I got married. The store looks familiar. Is this at St. Marks between 2nd & 3rd? Please advise. If it is, this store is awesome. Wanted to get the Sega Nomad a couple of years ago but it was out of my price range. This store is ideal for collectors who might have a hard time finding a particular item. Great selection. Thumbs up!!!

Yeah that's my store.

And yeah...because rent is high many items are priced out of most collectors range especially since they can get most of the items on Ebay. People would rather take a chance of getting ripped off if they can save a few bucks.

The reason I have so many good items is because I pay more than most people would...I know the value of many items. Also I have to compete with Ebay not only as a seller but as a buyer. People come here with intentions to sell me items and unless I give them a price thats comparable to Ebay they wont sell many times.

So the problem is simple. How can I make money from buying product that A) I have to buy at the selling price of Ebay and b) I have to sell at that same price as Ebay.

The answer is simple: I can't. Hence I will have to change my business and basically abandon the classic game market which was my bread and butter years ago.

5 years ago I sold more Atari 2600 systems then Playstations and Dreamcasts combined. I sold the classic handhelds for as much as $200 a pop. They have since been rereleased in $10 versions you can get at walmart. I used to be able to get $40-$200 for Nintendo Game and Watches. Now they sell cheaper and cheaper on Ebay. Many times I see the inventory that I have on ebay for less than what I own it for. Essentially my classic inventory is rotting in place. While its great stuff and worth plenty. It used to be worth more and I paid accordingly. The past 2-3 years have changed the game retail (if not all retail) market tremendously.

*SIGH*

Next time I'm in the city I'll make sure to pass by your store. It would be nice to dig through and see if I can find a gem or two. BTW, if we do pass by your store should we mention that we're CAGs.

Defender, you are welcomed to sell out of my house garage in the Bronx any time! Good luck in the future. BTW do you have any Nomads left? I'm very curious! If you do I may have to pay you a visit, and after that the flower shop so I can make up with the Mrs.

Justin (Just Blaze) is a great customer here...

He is a really nice guy. He hangs out with us and plays games while he shops here. He calls me when he is in town to ask whats hot and shit and to hold stuff for him. I got some nomads laying around...I hate to discourage sales but dont be upset if the price is more than what you can find one on Ebay.

As for CAGers stopping by...a few have and I usually enjoy when they just simply mention..."hey I heard about this place at CAG"...this usually inspires me to ask what the username is and introduce myself.

I have been looking for a copy of Mega Man X2 for the SNES for a long time now, maybe I'll actually find it there, if I get a chance to go. If you have transformer toys and pokemon cards there as well, I'll be set. :D

hey jessie...

its rob...not sure if you remember me, but i used to come in there alot with frank, usually looking for atari games.

we both dont work for funcoland anymore, but i work in queens now, i should stop by after work.

great pics!!!

if anyone is ever in NYC...go to this guys store...he has EVERYTHING!!!

MeyNERD

holy crap that's freakin' awesome! especially all those classic games (and game & watch handhelds!)! i wish i could see your store, but i'm here in cali :whistle2:X

Oh my god....Defender......

This is kinda what my dreams are made of. When I was younger, my biggest wish was to own an Electronic Boutique and everything in it, so I could just walk around the store and look at all the games. You're store....I'm sorry...I'm just lost for words.

You're like the gaming messiah, I have to visit your store.

Hey,I live in MA. Whenever i feel the need to drive 6 hours and be lost aimlessly with my mom or dad, i'll drive to your store. cheap ass prices i assume?

Looks like a labor of love there Defender. I've purchased a few things from you in the past, and I see a few more in those photos that aren't on your site. Is the number on your site the best way to reach you on info and pricing on those items?

Also, has anyone done research on the collectable game market? As far as outlook on items holding their value and what factors affect the devaluation of certian items.

Every time I go to St. Marks, I visit Defender's store. In fact, I brought my cousin there last week but we didn't buy anything, boohoo to us!

Defender - I see an nes top loader! :) gimme, I want one sooo bad!

Anyway that is one nice looking store, very nice. Good thing you bumped it I haven't seen it 8)

Anyway this site may be useful to you. I learned about it from the news, it probably wont be but worth a shot to look at.

http://www.stealitback.com/

anyway its an interesting site they auction off stuff people have stole.

I have to question the p[ossibility of porno being more prfitable than your game store. Maybe I'm completely naive, but porno is free on the internet. At least with Ebay, poeple have to pay something and wait for it which would give them more incentive to just go to your store and get it there. With porno, god, there's tons of it. I had considered opening a porno shop once, but I rethought it because I'm not usre of the market for the old fashioned kind at this point. I'm sure it sells, but, how well?

porn rocks...

its amazingly profitable despite the amount of free web porn

and I bumped this because I was showing the link to someone outside CAG and decided that I could show it to some of the new members..

Your store rocks. Even my mum was impressed by the amount of junk stuffed into that space. not impressed enough to stop her from pestering me to leave though.

Reminds me of this store Famcom that used to be near me in Washington, except that dude sold bootlegs too. Dude has laseractives, a dozen nes test stations, like 30 sealed copies of pepsiman, and a few creates full of import saturn games. The guy went out of business though because he never wanted to sell shit at a decent price. I sold him like 100 turbografx games though.

Wow, I feel like I've cased the joint without leaving LA. If you'd just include some exterior shots of the rear...

Ah, Toilet Kids. I had one of those long ago and probably paid a tiny fraction of what it would command on eBay now. Liquidating my PC Engine collection is one of my great regreats.

store_22.jpg

I know what SegaCD game that is. (the Striped one)

#1 - Is it sealed? (Did they seal SegaCD games?)
#2 - Is it complete?
#3 - How much!?

PM me a response.. I don't want to let anyone else know what it is! :)

dang i wish i had money and lived in ny. i would so be in your shop all the time defender. i should be getting a job real soon,so if you post your stuff on this site,SAVE SOME FOR ME!!! j/k. i will just have to hope to get something before it all goes out.

:applause: :applause: :applause: :applause: :applause:

If you ever decide to change your store location again, you are more than welcome to open tent in Ohio. I would live in your store if I could. Very impressive collection, needless to say. Maybe when I get a chance to check out a Gamers Nite Groove, I'll stop in your store.
