So I just installed a 2nd hard drive into my computer for backup reasons, the only problem is, its rather loud. I was just wondering if there's any way to just shut that hard drive only off, I didn't see anything in the power management settings about shutting only one off, so I'm confused what to do.

I had the same problem with a loud harddrive and I just stuffed some foam between the side panels. The only way I know is to just unplug the harddrive.

What happens if you go into the device manager and disable it? No, I'm not trying it on my computer.

But I think the drive would be spun up by the motherboard, so maybe you can look for a bios setting to turn it off.

The drive is spun up by power. Disconnect the power plug from the drive. You should be able to leave the IDE cable plugged in.
