Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Gold Edition (PC) $33 shipped at Amazon

Nice! I'm going to play it on Gametap, but I might want a stand alone copy too.

Does anyone know if this has "activation" or any other bad DRM? (I don't care about having to have the disc in the drive-that's fine, but I don't want Bioshock style activation).

You should be fine, activation-wise. Plus I don't think the GameTap version has the Warlords expansion. Keep in mind though that this "gold" version doesn't have the latest Beyond-the-sword expansion.
 
theres a "complete" version with both expansions around this price at gogamer. only problem is its imported from the UK. anyone have this version I was wondering if it was compatible online against my friends US copies.
 
I had a $25 giftcertificate that I was going to use to get the gold edition last week but I changed my mind because of the price. Now I don't have the GC anymore. Oh well, I'll wait for the real gold edition (with beyond the sword) to come out.
