Simpsons Season 8 - Hard to find a regular box?

It was odd... yesterday I went to three different Circuit City's and a Best Buy and all I could find was the stupid Maggie head plastic garbage container. CC told me they didn't even get in the regular boxes, just the Maggie heads... I had to go to a Wal-Mart and pick up a regular box and they only had about two left.

Did Fox ship out more heads than regular boxes, this time, and is this what we can expect from Seasons 9 and 10? I thought after the outcry over the Season 6 Homer head, there would be an even split between box vs head or more boxes than heads... unfortunately, in my experience, it was the opposite.

At least I know to just avoid Circuit City from now on for the Simpsons releases.

I don't know - I wanted the head one and all I could find was the regular box one. I just got it at Costco because it was so much cheaper than anywhere else (Fry's was the best price for the Maggie-head one at $28 or so, and the regular was only $21 at Costco so my cheap-assedness won out over my sense of consistency). But I have yet to see the Maggie-headed one (Fry's said it was in stock over the phone but I don't go in there unless I have to). Target was all out at $29.99, but still had regulars.

I walked into Best Buy and they had plenty of both. PS - Anyone who has the season 6 regular box version (not the Homer head) and wants to sell it let me know.

If you want the regular box season 6, just buy the homer head version. Inside is a form to send in for the box. That is the only way to get it, they only sell the homer head in stores.

As for the maggie head, I wanted that version, but both walmarts I went to only had the box version. I'm guessing thats all they carry. I asked the guy working there if they had the other version, and he was like does it matter? I guess it really doesn't, but it goes with my other two heads and other weird dvd stuff like the neo bust, planet of the apes head, and a velvet Hitchcock box.
 
I was at Circuit City today and all I saw were the Maggie Head versions. I got the regular packaging from Amazon, but I thought it was strange all there was in the store was the Maggie Head. I have Season 7 regular packaging so the only head version I have is Season 6.

Here's another question to everyone: The box that you can order for Season 6, is it the same style box as all the other ones, so I can move the DVD's and extras to a box and throw the homer head away? Does anyone have a pic of the box?

You put the Homer head inside the packaging.
 
I actually ordered the Homer box packaging, however ended up with the Marge head from online. It didn't have a way to get the regular box, so i'll prob end up with the Maggie Head
 
All I could find was the box without the head :(

Anyone know if it's possible to send away for just the marge head? The one I got was unfortunately in the regular box without the head.
 
They stopped doing that "sending away for the "other" box" with the Homer Head..

Unfortunitly..

anyway, just got back from picking up the maggie head.. wish they'd do the other box thing so i can collect both for season 7 and 8

I think you got it backwards. You can put the send-away package inside the homer head.

And yes. The head packaging is pretty stupid. If they could stand up on their own and weren't made out of cheap plastic, then maybe.

I love head, too. Back on topic, I noticed in a Best buy the other day that they hardly had any real boxes. Good thing I already had mine. I hate the plastic head releases. They don't go with the previous 5 , and they're cheap. That Homer head felt disposable, and as mentioned above, they don't stand up. I only bought it after I knew I could send in for something reasonable.

The box you send away for is shipped flat and you have to fold it, it's really quite clever. The top is open , and you put the inner case in. When it's on the shelf it looks just like the rest. It's pretty sturdy considering it's free and is shipped flat, but of course not as strong as the real ones. The Amazon listing actually has 37 customer images if you want to see it.

a bit OT, I remember getting my free (+S/H $2.99) LOTR Extended Edition box in the mail. It definitely made my week. It wasn't even folded up, came in a full-sized package, top quality.
 
I've seen these at Sams Club, you might want to check there if you have a membership.

Also I would like Marge's Head, I have the boxed one still sealed if anyone wants to trade.
