So I go into a Chicago Best Buy about an hour ago with a Fry's ad, looking to match FIFA 2005 (PSP) at $24.99. The cashier calls over "Princess" (that's her name...no joke) some kind of administrative assistant manager to the travelling secretary because the Price match was so large.

Princess tell me that they don't match "warehouse" clubs like Fry's. I tell her that Fry's is not a warehouse club, you don't pay fees, there are no memberships...it's just a store. Doesn't make a difference to Princess, who tells me they don't match Fry's. I know this is BS as I've matched Fry's at BB at least twice before...so is this a new policy? Is princess ill informed? Anyone else with a similar experience?

Well, at the very least I was holding a Doom 3 guide, which was a penny, so I had the original cashier (who was very hot) ring it up before Princess could tell me they don't sell penny guides. Since I only had a quarter, the lovely cashier paid the penny for me.

So all in all, in spite of not getting FIFA 2005 (which I think has a universal 29.99 price drop in the next couple of days) I got a free Doom 3 guide.

So anyone know if BB stopped matching Fry's?????

This is just the usual Worst Buy Bullshit that they do to get out of their policies. I've had it worse, trust me. Instead of denying their own policies, I've had them make up new ones or secret "under the table" ones right in front of me and half of the store while I held up their lines pointing out fact and truth to them.

Well, in my experience from working at Best Buy a couple years ago, they can deny a pricematch for anything. I don't know if they are supposed to though. My managers would come up with all sorts of ridiculous reasons not to pricematch. In your case though, it sounds like you didn't fight for it hard enough. You should have asked for a manager. That pricematch shouldn't have been a big deal. It's usually on big ticket items w/ little margin that they don't like to pricematch on.

not in Dallas. I price match Fry's almost every week. But as seeing as Fry's has been kicking ass on their prices lately, BB will stop the PM eventually. So I will have to start shopping at Frys' even though I hate too, only because they are so out of the way and I get RZ points at BB.

Well, there are a couple of reasons I didn't make a big stink...

1) it's an EA game...so I was buying it with hesitation to begin with
2) the universal (I believe) $29.99 price drop is coming up in a few days (at least its a for sure $29.99 at TRU on 8/11)
3) I had my 4 year old son with me and I didn't want to make too much of a hullabaloo...

boston-
If I wasn't 38 years old, had two kids, and was looking for an affair, believe me, I would have. But since divorce isn't something I'm too interested in now it's probably best I held off on asking her for her number.

hmm I wonder if I could get this price matched at my bb, and then use the $5 off coupon any psp game...anyone know if that would work?

I've tried to price match Fry's before but I guess the BB I went to can't price match fry's because it's in a different region or something even though it was in the same state.

nope. they wouldnt let me use the coupon with a price match. I priced matched lumines from frys for 29.99 and wanted to use the coupon but they wouldnt let me.
just forget it and buy it at the normal retail price
Blasphemy!!! We are CAG!! Full retail price is evil! :bouncy:

I price match Best buy in Chicago on a almost weekly basis and never get rejected. I once price matched Unreal II for Xbox for $9.99 and the orginial price at BB was $39.99. The only thing they did was call for a comfirmed stock.

I just price matched that same title at my local Circuit City because BB did not have it in stock in my area. I think you are getting screwed by BB. Fry's should be a retailer in the Best Buy Computer so they can and should match the price.
