SingStar PS3 - General Discussion & Info - SingStar Dance now available ...

Anyone know the maximum number of mics I can hook up at one time? I'm having a party this weekend and I'd like to do 8 people if possible. I have 4 sets of mics on a 60GB PS3. I'd be content with more than 2 mics if possible.

Anyone have suggestions for good party music from the Singstore that isn't available on the PS2/3 discs?

Only 2 mics at a time. The 8 person support is for their party modes where you split into 2 teams of 4 and battle each other 1v1. There's no support for more than 1 person singing at a time.

Probably not a good idea to ask for song suggestions when money is involved. Just browse the Singstore and if it's something you like, then get that, or YouTube the videos for any songs you're considering.

I really wish they'd release Taylor Swift to the Singstore. "Our Song" is the only song I want from the Country disc.

I'll be brave enough and answer your question. :cool: Most of these recommendations are easily recognizable by casuals and fun to sing:

The Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love
Fine Young Cannibals - She Drives Me Crazy
Avril Lavigne - Complicated
Mr. Big - To Be With You
The Beach Boys - Barbara Ann
The Beach Boys - Fun, Fun, Fun
Bill Withers - Lean On Me
Billy Joel - We Didn't Start The Fire
Elvis Presley - Suspicious Minds
Don McLean - American Pie
Fountains Of Wayne - Stacy's Mom
KT Tunstall - Suddenly I See
Metro Station - Shake It
Roy Orbison - Pretty Woman

You should check out this wiki for a comprehensive list of SingStar titles. Then, you could compare and contrast with StrandedBrit's list to avoid song overlap.

Good picks there. I'll have to make a run through the store. If I purchase content, it will show up regardless of which singstar disc I have in the drive at the time right?

I'm still missing the Rocks! disc, but I have the other PS2 releases. Ugh.

All available dlc will show up on SingStore regardless if you already have the song on disc. Btw, you need SingStar Rocks. That's one of the best discs. Do you have SingStar Queen for PS3 yet? That's a goody too.

SCEE has secured a licensing deal with Universal Music UK that will see an influx of the label’s most successful tracks making their way to the SingStore in the future – and it begins with the first arrivals on August 8th.

The deal will include tracks from the likes of Elton John, Girls Aloud, The Police, Cher, Snow Patrol and The Killers join the already bulging line-up of classics available to download off Sony’s in-game portal.

In addition, Sony has confirmed that the tragic death of The King of Pop has prompted them to bring forward the release of The Jackson Five’s I Want You Back. Originally due out on August 8th, the track should hit SCEE’s servers later today.

“As the biggest name in competitive singing, SingStar is delighted to partner with the world’s leading music company,” SingStore’s executive producer Dave Ranyard stated.

“The SingStore for SingStar PS3 is all about choice, about calling the shots yourself and having Universal Music on board will give SingStore users the biggest choice of pop hits ever.”

Here’s the complete list of what’s on the way on August 8th:

If I Could Turn Back Time – Cher
Rocket Man – Elton John
Love Machine – Girls Aloud
I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor
The Reason – Hoobastank
Ruby – Kaiser Chiefs
Everybody’s Changing – Keane
Celebration – Kool and the Gang
Get It Shawty -Lloyd
Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd
Ace of Spades – Motorhead
Pass the Dutchie – Musical Youth
Come As You Are – Nirvana
Crazy – Patsy Cline
Laura – Scissor Sisters
Chasing Cars – Snow Patrol
Everybody Wants To Rule The World – Tears for Fears
Lovefool – The Cardigans
Somebody Told Me – The Killers
Don’t Stand So Close to Me – The Police
I Think We’re Alone Now – Tiffany

Alas, UMG has finally partnered with SingStar. :applause:

At first glance, at least half of the August 8 dlc has already appeared on PS2 discs, including I Want You Back. Here's hoping that UMG uses the same price model for their songs.

I had Rocks in my hand tonight but the damn line at gamestop was out the door. The track listing for that one is very solid. I'll go back and get it this weekend now that there's that 20% off floating around. Waiting on the US release of Singstar Queen.

US store update isn't awful, but again about half of this content is found on other discs.

Great news about UMG, and hopefully people take a break from begging for MJ.

In other news, Singstar Queen has been bumped up to release on August 4th.

Got Rocks tonight FINALLY. What an amazing disc. Maybe 1-2 stinkers and the rest are solid. I've finally got all the PS2 release discs now.

Get It Shawty -Lloyd

Buying instantly. I wish sing star had more hip hop songs.

And are updates once a month now???

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Seems like most of them got them in today's shipment.

Singstar Motown?

Instant buy on the PS3 version.

I was reading the PS Blog about this weeks Singstore update and Nina did some explaining on why we can't get some of the newer stuff in the US. It's basically due to licensing issues, which is a damn shame.

If we are going for trophies, do you have to sing 300 songs all over again if you have sung a bunch of songs BEFORE the update? Or do things you've done before the update not count?

Just asking because I haven't played this game in forever.

A few repeats on the new Motown disc, but otherwise a very solid selection.

On another note, I can appreciate that Nina from SCEE is updating the PS blog, but the continued silence from any member of the SCEA Singstar team is disappointing. I hope that the new Karaoke Revolution can succeed where Lips failed in actually presenting a credible rival to Singstar...

Caedeskhan,

I think StrandedBrit posted this week's SingStar update already. :p

Just checked the SingStore right now and the update doesn't seem to be live yet. Hmm... :whistle2:k

Sorry bout that! In any case, according to the Singstar Facebook VIP Lounge, this weeks update was delayed due to technical difficulties. The EU got there update last night, but no confirmation yet for the US:bouncy:

Pretty weak IMO.

Boo, boo...boo! :nottalking: If we got the UMG Euro update I would have gotten Aqua's Barbie Girl, Boyz II Men's I'll Make Love to You, and One Republic's Apologize.

Haven't seen anything this weak in awhile. I hope they don't bring back this 'trend'.

I personally would have bought most of the Euro update myself. So many good ones...

* Amy Winehouse – “Rehab”
* Aqua – “Barbie Girl”
* The Automatic – “Monster”
* Boyz II Men – “I’ll Make Love To You”
* Gwen Stefani – “What You Waiting For?”
* The Hives – “Walk Idiot Walk”
* The Killers – “Mr. Brightside”
* Lady Gaga feat Colby O’Donis – “Just Dance”
* The Pussycat Dolls – “Don’t Cha”
* Queens of the Stone Age – “Go With The Flow”
* Ronan Keating featuring Yusuf – “Father And Son”
* Scissor Sisters – “Take Your Mama”
* Sugababes – “Too Lost In You”
* Superbus – “Butterfly”
* Texas – “Say What You Want”
* Timbaland feat. One Republic – “Apologize”
* Tom Jones – “It’s Not Unusual”
* Wet Wet Wet – “Love Is All Around”
* Ultimate Queen 4 song pack

I mean, for serious. Just Dance, Go with the flow, Apologize, Love is all around, It's not unusual, Barbie Girl, Rehab. So solid.

And we get...shit.

That is a pretty sweet list there I must say.

Maybe they don't want to cut into their US Singstar Queen sales with awesome DLC. Not that things were any better before :/

C'mon Singstore, give me a reason to get those wireless mics.

"Just Dance" and "Apologize" are going to be on Lips Number One Hits, so I don't necessarily need them on Singstar. However, "What You Waiting For" is my song! That ish better come out over here!
I read about that this morning on Joystiq and I'm left scratching my head over it. Sony isn't the publisher, but MTV is. Really makes you wonder what the target audience is. Why not just buy the beatles rock band and just not play the guitar?
Because it's Singstar! :shock:

Nah, it's just that I'm really bad with plastic music instruments. That and I prefer seeing the video in the background as opposed to seeing the 'Rock Band' Beatles playing on stage... I can't for the life of me play anything beyond Medium difficulty, if that. ;)

I just think it'll be completely different without Sony being the publisher. Really makes you wonder what kind of effort they are putting in to it.

I'll buy the singstar beatles as long as i can swap discs. I sorta commited to Singstar for karaoke and don't want to switch to rock band. We play a lot of 2 player karaoke. I wish we got better updates, everything has been crap lately.
SingStar Motown preorders are available now at cdwow.us only $25 for ps2 or $29 for ps3!
Holy shitnitz, I'm preordering this... like, right now! Thanks. :mrgreen:

BTW, I got it preordered just now for $27 by using the CDWOW $2 off promotional codes that were emailed to me earlier this week. If you live in the West Coast, you have 45 minutes to use them, 'cause they are going to expire!

A Harmonix/MTV Games spokesperson gave us the real info: it isn't SingStar, it's a The Beatles: Rock Band microphone bundle -- and even that is in the realm of hypotheticals. The spokesperson told us that the companies "have been working very closely with all of our partners to create various retail promotional opportunities in Europe to support the existing installed base of existing music video game hardware with potential offerings such as "The Beatles Microphone Bundles."

Someone must have heard discussion about a pack that was like SingStar: Beatles, and mistakenly believed it was SingStar: Beatles. The full statement is after the break.

Interesting...

If RB Beatles lets you play vocals-only, then why would you not buy it, but plan to buy Singstar Beatles? What's the difference? Music videos?

Competitive singing, an online community with other users' video clips... that and I have a SingStar collection I'm building up atm... Wish it was real though. :(

Here's a trailer showing what is in the works for the SingStar community, including Clubs, SingStar HOME space, the video editor, a custom wallpaper creator & a SingStar Viewer for online instant access (Whaaa??? :shock: )

Also, if you look carefully at the SingStore in the video, you can see Michael Jackson's 'Number Ones' album, along with Bjork's 'Volta', The Killer's 'Day & Age', Van Halen's '1984' and Andrew W.K.'s 'I Get Wet' among others. (Please, please bring songs from those albums stateside :pray: )

So, this new update must have fixed something because I finally got to download 13 or so songs I bought forever ago. Man, this game is so much fun.

Does anybody have the Beat Bravo trophy or whatever where you have to score over 9300 in Hard? I can't get past 8500ish...
