SingStar PS3 - General Discussion & Info - SingStar Dance now available ...

I was gonna hold out on this but $26.09 is too good to pass up on. Last time I saw it was $28.99. Thanks Freeky. The Beatles: RB + SingStar Motown = my oldies fix has finally arrived!

I still need those wireless mics at a sub-$50 price. :bomb:

The Singstar update is out today!!!

Clubs are available. Who wants to head up a CAG club?

Edit: Some sort of "Video Editor" is available in the store for free as well.

Awesome! I wonder if it's just a coincidence that it came out the same day as The Beatles Rockband. Someone start up the cag club! I gotta go download the update for each singstar disk.

Contemplated on posting this (i.e. why bother?) but here's this week's crappy update. I've also noticed a lack of CAGs owning The Beatles: Rock Band so here's my comprehensive review to help tilt you borderline buyers over. ;) I'll also post my impressions for SingStar: Motown once I receive my import copy.

In English
 • Eoghan Quigg — “28,000 Friends”
 • The Libertines — “Can’t Stand Me Now”
 • Pixies — “Here Comes Your Man”
 • The Sounds — “Painted by Numbers”
 • Friendly Fires — “Paris”
 • Blondie — “Rapture”
 • September — “Satellites”
 • Spandau Ballet — “Through the Barricades”
 • I’m From Barcelona — “We’re From Barcelona”

In Spanish
 • Sidonie Los Olvidados

SongPack
 • Dizzee Rascal feat. Calvin Harris & Chrome — “Dance Wiv Me,” “Flex,” and “Holiday”
 • Armand van Helden – “Bonkers,” and ” Fix Up, Look Sharp”
Has there been any new word on when the U.S. will get the wireless mics here? Or cheap places to import them from?
If they're not bluetooth, I'll pass. The current official wireless ones (RF?) get mixed reviews with some reporting lag messing with score.

I just got the game the other day and noticed the UK exclusive download songs... Does anyone know why they didn't send the same songs across both the EU and US? I would have loved to scoop just Bohemian Rhapsody vs having to buy the whole Queen disc. GF would like Just Dance as well.

Lordopus99, it basically boils down to these 3 factors: 1) SingStar was created by SCEE and SCEA just waits on their approval and gets a watered-down version; 2) SCEE has UMG, the biggest record label in the world, and SCEA doesn't; and 3) The US localization process is difficult due to record labels in America.

I've been searching for some wireless mics and EU/UK PSN Cards. I can't seem to find any of the mics for a sub-$50 price tag. As for the imported PSN Cards, the best site seems to be http://www.xboxliveuk76.com/. They sell 50 pound PSN Cards for 45.99 pounds which is equivalent to 73.51 pounds. That comes out to $1.47 per song since UK songs cost 0.99 pounds each. If anyone has more info. on getting better deals, please post. :D

Here is a good FAQ on creating a UK account, and here's one for all the exclusive EU songs. Also, please note that purchased SingStar songs are attached to the system and not by system activation. So if you plan to upgrade to a Slim, your DLC will be non-transferable unless you call SCEA/SCEE. I'm playing the waiting game until a transferable solution arrives OR until I buy a Slim.

EU Exclusive Songs I Want:
* Aqua - Barbie Girl
* Jackson Five - I Want You Back (available on Legends)
* Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama (available on Legends)
* Timbaland f. One Republic -Apologize
* Queen Song Packs (I would prefer them as DLC vs. on disc)

Lastly, I've been playing SingStar Motown recently. Great setlist and very fun to sing along. The only thing that sucks is that many of the songs don't have music videos; they just have moving stills or graphic animations. :whistle2:(

Thanks for the explanation. I will just hold out until they eventually make it to the US. After reading the process to obtain them from the UK, it just sounds like too much work. Like you, the main omission for me is being able to download individual Queen songs so I can launch them from one disc vs having to disc swap. If only Singstar would put in place the same setup that Rockband has (i.e. one time use transfers to HDD)...

And here's your shitty US SingStore update for the week:

 • John Farnham – “You’re The Voice”

 • The Stone Roses – “I Wanna Be Adored”
In Spanish

 • Héroes del Silencio – “La Herida”

 • Alain Souchon – “L’Amour À La Machine”

Let's compare that to the Euopean update, shall we?

Duffy – Mercy
Elton John – Your Song
Fall Out Boy – Thnks Fr Th Mmrs

I personally don't think it takes much work to create a UK account but to each his own.

For anyone thinking about Motown, I would consider holding out for the eventual EU DLC since 2 songs have already surfaced from the disc. And if Time-Warner has taught me anything, it shouldn't be hard licensing Motown songs. ;)

it's not hard to create a uk account... but, don't you need a uk credit card and valid address to fund your psn wallet?

You can buy UK psn cards online, at the site evergoo linked to for example.

Fake address and UK PSN Cards is all you need. The problem is I fear the YLOD. :whistle2:(

P.S. In the PlayStation Forums, I recall a European using Nintendo's HQ as their US account's address and an American using the Belgian Prime Minister's address for their Belgian account.

So my impulsiveness decided to pull the trigger on a 50 pound UK PSN Card for 45.99 pounds ($76.75) which comes out to $1.53 per song. Lurking through some SingStar forums, I learned that 2 people were successful in transferring their overseas SingStar DLC onto their new PS3. Just make sure to have your receipts handy and don't call SCEE.

Since I'm going the UK DLC route, anyone interested in SingStar Motown and Queen for $30 each shipped? Both are mint, scratchless, and played only a few times. If not, it's heading to eBay.

Everclear is a maybe for me. The rest I'll pass on. With the new Lips coming out this week, it's going to be hard to stick to Singstar if they keep with these shitty updates.
Wow. Our update this time is a 2 out of 10 for me. The only value at all would be the Duran Duran pack.
I agree. Granted, I already have two of the songs on Rock Band; no need to double dip.

Have any Usher songs appeared in the UK SingStore? One song I would really like to sing by him is "Burn". Used to really like singing that in high school. ;)

As promised, here are the songs I own via UK SingStore. I hope this is enough reason to open a UK account. ;)
It's almost worth it just for Lady Gaga!
I'm seriously thinking of deleting you from my friends list now...
FYI, (s)he's available on Lips #1 Hits...;)
Why would I buy that when I don't have a 360 and already have 13 SingStar discs?

@DD83 Don't hide your true feelings about her music. You know you want it.
I already posted this in the Fat Princess thread, 2 of my social groups, and in my sig. Might as well do it here since some of you love Lady Gaga.
GG 'goo. I haven't posted in the FP thread nor been able to connect for the nights forever.

So making a UK PSN account can grant me access to the UK Singstore? After getting the songs with the UK account, can I go back to my regular account to play them??

EDIT: Nvm, I JUST read your old post :)

Yes, you can play the UK songs on any account. They need to be completely downloaded from the UK SingStore first before playing them on your other account. There's also something wrong with the UK SingStore in terms of crashing the PS3. It seems that quitting via XMB locks up your game...at least with my PAL Motown disc. The workaround is quitting the game via the PS button.

My bro recently bought a Slim as a wi-fi Blu Ray player and said he wouldn't mind swapping his new one for my fatty free of charge (he doesn't do console gaming). From reading some success stories on other forums, I will need to file an e-mail request form to Sony EU to get my UK songs transferred to the new PS3. It's the same process as transferring US songs...just make sure not to call Europe otherwise you'll get a headache. :bomb:

goo, and whoever else. You know what gets me about the whole UK singstar thing, and the excuses that SCEA gives here about why songs can't come over to the US? The fact that almost all of those songs are now in Lips or Rock Band. They seemed to have no problems licensing any of those songs, which is why I think the lines that SCEA spouts out about it don't make a lot of sense.

We can probably follow suit with the posters on the official PS forums and agree that Sony has fallen out of touch with consumers.

Yeah, they keep making excuses when Lips continues to deliver DLC which even includes UMG artists. I'm just tired of bitching (e.g. US always get patches weeks/months later after the EU, months of crappy songs, no wireless mics, etc.) and I'm glad to have finally found a solution to buying good songs.

It sure must suck being the PR person who posts on the US PS Blog about Singstar's bi-'weak'ly updates. They need to get their flame shield ready.

I still think SingStar is the better game thanks to its vast library and online features. Nevertheless, it's good to have competition.

I go back and forth between the two. Lips has been winning lately, but only because they have a new interface in #1 hits. I've got a large number of these songs on Singstar already, so it really depends on the songs. I am not giving up on either series yet personally.

If you read the PS blog, they had someone named Nina on there for a while. She lasted about 3 weeks. It was week after week of the same comments. I'd hate to have to reply to that one personally.

I've just started playing Singstar (got on a recent price drop)...but it appears the packs are really a better deal than buying the 5 songs individually (not like in RB...its just the same price)!

It appears the North American online community isn't as robust as the SCEE one as well (ie. singstargame.com)? ):

Your best bet for tracks is just to pick up the PS2 discs for cheap. A good number of us here in the thread have all of them. If you look hard enough, you can pick them up for less than $10 each. My most expensive one was ROCKS, which I paid $19 for used at gamestop. The rest can be had through clearances or wherever.
