SingStar PS3 - General Discussion & Info - SingStar Dance now available ...
I've just started playing Singstar (got on a recent price drop)...but it appears the packs are really a better deal than buying the 5 songs individually (not like in RB...its just the same price)!

It appears the North American online community isn't as robust as the SCEE one as well (ie. singstargame.com)? ):
Uh...Rock Band packs are much more discounted than SingStar packs. SingStar is usually only 50 cents off per entire pack and there's usually a dud or 2 in each pack. Rock Band 3-packs save you about 50 cents and large packs save a lot more (e.g. Queen 10-pack saves $3, No Doubt 13-pack saves $6).

I think you're being fooled by RB's higher price tag ($2) over SingStar's ($1.50). ;)

Probably most likely, hahahaha.
Hrmm, would the UK/EU discs and all US PS2 Singstar titles also be read by my North American non-BC PS3??
EU ps3 discs yes, EU ps2 discs no. NA ps2 discs yes.

Excellent. CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON THAT DISNEY DISC!!!

These servers are really sad, in terms of connectivity and speed of downloads ):

Addone, you need to practice reading or stop drinking booze while reading. I caught you slipping up for the second time.

Yaaaaa, hahahaha.

EDIT: Totally agree now, because I re-read the list of Singstar games and JUST noticed the EU note beside the release date. Yesterday was a horrible day for Reading. I hope Reading has a better day today :)

I played Singstar for the first time about a month ago and I had some fun with it. While I'm not obsessed with playing it, I've been considering getting into it because a big plus would be that I get double use out of the mics by using them for Beatles RB.

I tried finding out if they worked but I couldn't find a clear-cut answer on whether (both) the mics work on RB, nor have I seen anything saying they work as effectively as a regular mic (sensitivity issues). Can someone please shed some light on this?

Also, did I read that correctly? Are all PS3s able to read/play the PS2 Singstar discs from the same region? If so, would I be able to startup the game on my PS3 using the PS2 disc? Or would it only work when it's "swapped"?

Yes, all PS3s can use PS2 Singstar discs, but only by using a PS3 Singstar disc to start the game then swapping the disc at the song menu.

Keep in mind too that you can run the PS2 discs standalone with backwards compatible PS3's. I did this for SS Country without any problems. You just don't get the jazzy interface and whatnot.

Perfect. Thanks for the response. It wouldn't make sense that it works as a stand-alone on non BC PS3; but since the discs do work I thought I'd ask anyway.

Do you know about the mic compatibility with RB?

SingStar mics work on RB but RB mic won't work on SingStar.

You can have both SingStar mics plugged into the adapter and RB will recognize 2 vocalists. It works on TB:RB vocal harmonies and RB Tug of War/Score Duel.

The one thing that's preventing me from enjoying RB2 to its fullest is that stupid ass Shaky Arrow Syndrome only on PS3. It drives me bonkers! :whee: Harmonix still hasn't patched it yet even though many have complained about it. TB:RB does not have this issue whatsoever.

Thanks evergoo. Are there any issues with the mic sensitivity when using them on RB?

going through the singstore now, been like 3 or 4 months. have found hardly anything good that I really want to download. What a disappointment. I wish we would get more of the UK stuff, lady gaga would be a blast at a party for everyone to sing.

And can we get a Sort By Date Added feature????
Q for those that have upgraded your hdd's. Did your singstore songs copy over?
The songs are attached to the system, not the hard drive. If you get a new system you cannot simply transfer the songs by account deactivation; it doesn't work that way (strictest PS3 drm imo). You need to file a request form and show evidence that you own all the songs. I've been keeping track of this by recording the title and date purchased for each song.

Really? Even if I just upgrade the HDD? wow. I can't re-download the songs?

In my experience, just changing out the hdd will not do anything to the availability of your songs. Was able to redownload teh musics successfully when i went and upgraded my hdd the first time. so long as the actual system itself has not been changed you should be golden.

though to move your songs to a new system is a serious pain in the butt.

Jonlubbe is right. I didn't say anything negative about changing hdds, just systems.

In fact, I can't think of any downloads (games, songs, videos) where changing the hdd on the same system affects your drm in a negative manner.

Lips on 360 got 3 Lady Gaga songs today (Poker Face, Eh Eh, & LoveGame) and Singstar US can't even give us one? Good for those of us that own both games, but not for those without a 360. Lips also brought back a ton of Christmas songs. Singstar US needs to song match!

My girlfriend was going to get me Lips for christmas, but the new one only has 1 mic, which is stupid. And the other mic is like $40, which makes it $100 and I don't feel like starting over again.

Question though and I am sure it has been answered already, but if I start a UK account, when I play singstar will it combine all of my DLC from my US account and my UK account?

Since its installed on your system, yes it will. However, it will ever only work on that one system.
(Correct me if i'm wrong :))

4 Lady Gaga songs on lips now btw. ;)

It's interesting to read the dev comments in the last psblog update.

Most of the posts concerning Universal are replied to with 'working on it, stay tuned'.

Here's hoping for new dlc and a new disc sometime soon ....

I wonder how the upcoming firmware 3.15 will work with SingStar downloads. Will Sony release its iron grip by allowing a full song transfer or will the downloads still be tied to the original system? :whistle2:k

I have a feeling nothing will change. If anyone does get a chance to do this, please share your experience. :)
Hi everyone, PlayStation 3 (PS3) will receive its next system software update shortly – v. 3.15. This is an optional update, and it enables existing PS3 owners who purchase a new PS3 system (perhaps as a second unit for the household) to transfer their content from their current PS3 to the new system. Content such as games, game save data, and videos downloaded from PlayStation Network can be transferred to the new PS3 system and deleted from the current PS3 system. Other content, including personal media files (photos, music, videos), can be copied onto the new PS3 and remain on the current PS3 system.
SingStar Viewer sounds like good news for everyone. Now I'm not forced to insert a SingStar disc when I want to download songs.

Below is Europe's update for 12/17. As usual, expect a gimped version for the US.
Adele – Chasing Pavements
Celine Dion – All By Myself
Coheed and Cambria – A Favor House Atlantic
Crowded House – Not The Girl You Think You Are
Daddy Cool – Eagle Rock
Delta Goodrem – Innocent Eyes
Dizzee Rascal – Dream
Dizzee Rascal – Fix Up, Look Sharp
Dizzee Rascal – Flex
Earth And Fire – Weekend
Eels – Novocaine For The Soul
Gary Numan – Cars
Gin Blossoms – Hey Jealousy
James Morrison feat. Nelly Furtado – Broken Strings
JLS – Beat Again
John Farnham – Burn For You
Kaiser Chiefs – Oh My God
Keane – Is It Any Wonder?
Kim Herold – Social Butterfly
Lady Gaga – Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)
Lighthouse Family – Lifted
Martha Reeves – Dancing in The Street
Meat Loaf – I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)
Nik Kershaw – I Won’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me
Peter Andre – Mysterious Girl
Simple Minds – Alive And Kicking
Smokey Robinson – Being With You
Stereo MC’s – Connected
Texas – Summer Son
Texas – Halo
The Beach Boys – Auld Lang Syne
The Go-Betweens – Streets Of Your Town
The Hives – Tick Tick Boom
The Specials – Too Much Too Young
The Supremes – Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
will.i.am – I Got It From My Mama
Wombles – Wombling Merry Christmas

Some random comments about this update. Looks like I'm only downloading Meat Loaf. I also find it pretty funny that All By Myself is available for download. The update also adds a couple more songs from SingStar Motown to the EU SingStore. Last but not least, I'm a fan of The Beach Boys but was wondering why I never heard of the song "Auld Lang Syne". Now I know what the New Year's Day song is called.

Anyone know if the Rock Band mics work for SingStar games yet?

I heard awhile back they were workin on the compatibility issue but I can't find any info anywhere...

I just got a PS3 and would love to add SingStar to my collection, and I can get a disc only for $10.

No, the mics don't work.

Shouldn't they work now? I believe the SingStar 3.10 (or 3.15) fw update makes most usb mics now compatible including the Logitech (RB) ones. I don't think the GH ones work though.

OK..so we know Singstar Viewer is coming, but was there a specific and definite date? Also, was it simultaneous update, or EU first, NA in an eternity? :p

So I finally got a chance to use the Data Transfer Utility from fw 3.15. As I expected, the DLC will not transfer over to the new system even if you deactivate the system and delete all the songs via SingStar's options menu. I sent an email to Consumer Services since it seems to be the easiest way to re-activate songs.

If anyone is interested in UK PSN Cards, please PM me. I have a one-time 5% off entire purchase discount which means I can get a 50 pound card (50 songs) for $64.23 ($1.28 per song). I don't mind pooling cards for my collective CAGs. :D

I posted this morning in the PS3 area before somebody kindly pointing out this Singstar thread. I now know that I can use PS2 Singstar discs on my launch PS3 and that if I disc swap I can even preserve the PS3 interface. I also know that PS3 versions of the same game include a few extra tacks (e.g. for Singstar Queen). That said, are there many more advantages to paying more for the PS3 version? I snagged the PS2 version of Singstar Queen for about $13 at Target but I'm wondering if I should return it and end up paying about $30 or so for the PS3 version. Thoughts?

Also, if you enjoy showing the world your skills, you cannot upload videos shot while playing a PS2 disc, even if its recording.

Thanks to you and mtxbass1 for your help. Much appreciated! Now I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for deals on the PS3 version of Singstar Queen. Got lucky on Vol.2 and Abba at Target ($13 each I think). I'd grab Queen for $20 or less.

So if I get a new PS3 slim to replace my older PS3 I can not transfer any of my songs over to it? Shouldn't it just be linked to my account??? I think I read that you have to call them. Seems crazy.
