SingStar PS3 - General Discussion & Info - SingStar Dance now available ...

SingStar Vol. 2 Bundle for $25
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16879261139

This bundle is a steal since mics themselves cost $20.

In other news, my UK dlc is trapped on my old PS3 and it looks like the only way to recover them is via phone call...to the UK. :whistle2:( They don't do e-mails based on my research.

If anyone wants to recover their US songs, the 2nd link from the post above is hassle-free. No receipt or fax needed. I'll edit this post when I find the template e-mail web surfers use for dlc recovery.

Has anyone else noticed that Sony has pretty much stopped updating the Playstation blog in regards to Singstar now? There have been 3 more updates since their last post about Singstar. As usual though, 90% of the songs they release for sale are from the UK or the 80's...or both.
i ordered singstar 1 and 2 from Newegg ($10 a piece), time to sing some songs for trophies, lol.
I checked NewEgg today and didn't see these deals. I already have 1 and 2 anyway but still. Wish I could find a great deal on Queen for the PS3.

I noticed that too. The SS 80's disc has enough hits for me to enjoy. However, I did purchase the 2 Blow Monkeys songs in the store since I know Sony will never put them on disc (one of the most underrated bands of the 80's that didn't quite take off in the U.S. like they did in the UK). I'm a little skeptical on buying anything else (they day I do decide to load up, they'll start making NTSC versions of the PAL versions we don't get here in the states. That or you'll see SS 80's vol. 2., etc).

Their song selection for DLC is starting to puzzle me. A lot of groups/artists have been with Sony for years (and own the rights), but only have 2-3 songs in the SS store (and not even their most popular songs).

A recent update (since I don't know when and can't find a running list on the web of singstar updates by week).

Adam & The Ants - Prince Charming
Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend
Bob Sinclar - Sound of Freedom
DJ Bobo - Pirates of Dance
Salem Al Fakir - Good Song
The Script - The Main Who Can't Be Moved
The Subways - Rock & Roll Queen
Suede - Metal Mickey
The Veronicas - 4ever

Why they would pick 4ever and not Untouched by the Veronicas is interesting, but it's good to see them. They have a song on Lips, so I figured Microsoft would have them exclusively, but I suppose not.

Edit: Sony is updating the UK blog and of course UK is getting a ton more songs, per usual. They got Romeo by Basement Jaxx which is one of my all time favs. I'm almost tempted to get a UK store account for it. Almost.

$20 or less currently at Target.

The best part of seeing the update is seeing the link into the singstore promoting songs that arent available for the US i.e. showing No Doubt this week when Spiderwebs was only released for the UK. Good Job Sony on handling Singstar the way you do

Oh I know. They have a pic of the Singstore featuring some Lady Gaga content. I go to the store, and nope, nothing.

I bought it on Lips instead.

I remember seeing the same thing and also ended up getting her on Lips.

so is Singstar basically dead or dying in the US? i never saw certain titles over here like Pop PS3 and Vol 3.

any word on whether or not the Motown disc will be released in the states? i can order it through CDWow.us, but the price tag is a little higher than what it normally is for SS games. i got Queen and Vol 3 on there for about $25-30, and Motown is currently $46 IIRC.

i played Lips for the first time this past weekend. the song list was decent, but it was confusing as hell to figure out when you're supposed to sing if you're player 2. i'm probably too used to playing Singstar where it separates the lyrics each player is supposed to sing.

I'd say it's almost dead honestly. We get measily 5-6 song updates every three weeks or so and they are usually artists that no one has heard of in the US. The weekly releases are basically rehashes of the UK releases.

I believe Sony said Motown will NOT be coming to the US.

I've personally given up and gone to Lips until they can get their act (heh) together.

yeah, the updates have always been relatively poor, but they are just pathetic lately.

i guess i should just bite the bullet and get Motown through CDWow.us, but i'd really prefer to pay less than $40 for it. oh well.

i don't have a 360, so Lips is not an option for me.

hopefully it doesn't completely go by the wayside, but admittedly i haven't really supported it much personally. i bought most of my PS2 discs at TRU when they went on clearance, and i got at least 2 or 3 PS3 games from CDWow. i did get a couple of the PS3 games as gifts, and i downloaded a few tracks from the Singstore, but that was probably less than 10 songs total.

if nothing else, i hope that they continue to make discs for the UK and i can just get them through CDWow.

How is shipping from CDWow? There are a few UK singstar discs I'd like to pick up if they worked on the PS3 and were cheap enough...

CDWow ships free. They usually have really good preorder prices on the import discs which is why I buy all my SingStar games from there.
this game blows. i was a huge supporter in the day but now ive given up. i moved to rockband!
Thanks for the constructive input!

Here's this week's update?

Damien Leith - 22 Steps
JLS - Everybody in Love
Kelly Clarkson - Behind These Hazel Eyes and Since U Been Gone
Massive Attack - Teardrop
P!nk - Who Knew
The Specials - A Message To You Rudy
The Subways - Oh Yeah
T'Pau - Heart and Soul

Massive Attack is tempting...

Down for The Specials!!!

Personally, I don't think the game is dead here in the US. It seems Sony sticks it to the US every chance they get. Ever notice the vast difference from North American HOME to HK Home, on top of other things? It's like they're still holding a grudge from the war or something. LOL!

With LIPS, MS actually listens to their user forums and choose their tracks accordingly. Sony seems to care less and put out whatever tracks they want to (popular or not).

I don't blame people for moving on to LIPS. I have both, but prefer SS (I don't care for the interface on LIPS). If you remember, LIPS content wasn't cranking out new tracks like hotcakes either months back, until people started getting upset (about the DLC, LIPS: NOH only having 1 mic and the disc swap issue). MS is basically doing it to save NOH from being "a wash" also.
Finally found SingStar Queen for PS3 at Target for $19.xx! :) Now I can let loose my inner Freddie Mercury! ;-)
awesome, i got it from CDWow for like $25-30, which i thought was a great deal.

the Queen disc is definitely my favorite one on the PS3. the 80's PS2 disc trumps it overall as far as fun songs goes, but Queen is a close second.

If my local targets would just drop it one more time (down to $9.98) I'd be in on it as well.

Thanks for making me aware of SingStar 80's for PS2. I have a launch (backwards compatible) PS3 so I'll have to keep my eyes out for it. The songlist looks great! :)

I've got a question about the SingStar games that hopefully someone can answer.

I picked up a copy of SingStar Vol 2 so that I can pull up the track list from the PS2 titles. Unfortunately, it did not come with a manual. I've tried to find information online, but can't find much.

So, how does the recording feature work? I notice that it is possible to record both audio and video. I recorded my daughter singing We're Not Going to Take It (she's 3 1/2 - it was hilarious). When I went to play it back, only the audio was available. Is there a way to pull that audio or can I only listen to it from the SingStar menu? I was hoping to share it with family who don't have a PS3 and who aren't local. Also, is it possible to get the audio to come up with the video playing?

(I shall make NO assumptions such as you having a PS Eye)
First, you'll need a PS Eye/Eyetoy (and have it connected).

Second, Singstar will automatically record video/audio while you play, but you will have to manually save the video playbacks once the song is over.

Third, you cannot upload recordings of performances from PS2 discs "due to copyright issues" to the Singstar community *shrug*. In other words, if the song isn't from a PS3 disc or bought from the Singstar Store, you cannot upload your performance. You'd have to record your TV/screen to show the world your hilarious vids ;-) (which is what I sadly have to do...its not that convenient)

Not that convenient at all. Oh well, thanks for the quick response!

Probably not that important to know for most people, but the other day I was able to buy songs from the SingStore in other languages.
When you start your game up, it'll ask you which language you want. Whatever language you choose, the songs corresponding with that language you chose will appear in the SingStore, along with all the other English songs that are usually on there.
Last week, I was able to buy this one song by Alejandro Sanz, called 'Corazon Partido'... It was a huge hit in Latin America in the late 90's and I just had to have it. ;)

Euro update for this week:
Babyshambles – Delivery
Crowded House – Distant Sun
Crowded House – Instinct
Crowded House – Locked Out
Desmond Dekker & The Aces – Israelites
Eddy Grant – Electric Avenue
Eddy Grant – I Don't Wanna Dance
Eddy Grant – Gimme Hope Jo'anna
Eddy Grant – Living On The Front Line
Eddy Grant – Baby Come Back
Gomo – Final Stroke
Il Divo – Mama
Kaiser Chiefs – Everyday I Love You Less And Less
Kaiser Chiefs – Everything Is Average Nowadays
Lionel Richie – You Are
Lionel Richie – Truly
One True Voice – Shakespeare’s (Way With) Words
Pixie Lott – Boys & Girls
Taio Cruz – Break Your Heart
The Human League – (Keep Feeling) Fascination
The Jackson 5 – Mama’s Pearl
The Jackson 5 – Never Can Say Goodbye
The Jackson 5 – I’ll Be There
The Jackson 5 – Dancing Machine
The Jackson 5 – ABC
The Script – We Cry
The Velvet Underground – I’m Sticking With You
Wolfmother – Love Train
Wolfmother – Woman

Stereophonics Song Pack
Stereophonics – Maybe Tomorrow
Stereophonics – Just Looking
Stereophonics – Have A Nice Day
Stereophonics – Innocent
Stereophonics – Could You Be The One?
I'm in for some Jackson 5 and Woman, if it's the same remix heard on the PS3 SingStar disc. I don't know why Sony teases us with intro songs (along with Don't Stop Me Now on Vol. 2) if it's not even on the disc.

I've been contemplating on buying a particular french song I heard from GH3 called Radio Song by Superbus but then I remember my utter failure in trying to sing the german song Hier Kommt Alex by Die Toten Hosen in RB.

also, it's great that you have the backwards compatible PS3, but you don't need it with the disc swap feature that the PS3 games have. just FYI.

Has anyone tried Karaoke Revolution for PS3 using the SingStar mics? Wikipedia says it works at a limited level. What does that mean? Also, any thoughts on the game? Saw it at Target for about $20. Thanks!

This week's update...

Crowded House - Distant Sun
Crowded House - Locked Out
Gomo - Final Stroke
The Human League (Keep Feeling) Fascination
Il Divo - All By Myself, Ave Maria, Mama, The Power of Love, Unbreak My Heart
One True Voice - Shakespeare's (Way With) Words
The Script - We Cry

This is a great update...if you're in the UK or Italy and have actually heard of any of this before, and if you have then you already have your own store update, so screw off. Il Divo really does not belong on the US Singstore.

Meanwhile, Lips got Lady Gaga (Paparazzi). ;)

Another 2 week period, another waste of it. Only one song in English I have heard of (human league) and I don't like it. I agree about the Il Divo stuff... who really wants to be singing in a) italian and b) opera style

OK...I'm curious, where *DO* y'all get your US/UK Singstore updates from?? I never see them in [American] gaming blogs/sites such as the PS.blog, Joystiq or Kotaku...

Same here! I found it on the "clearance" rack.

I was able to cop SingStar with the mics and vol. 2 off of Newegg during their last last week for $35 (along with 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand for $13). What a steal!

Sorry to re-post but any info would be helpful. Thanks! :D

FINALLY picked up Singstar Queen today for $9.98 at my local Target. Wow. What a track list. I'm not familiar with a lot of Queen songs, but as I track through it, I recognize quite a few songs that I had no idea they sung. Impressive collection indeed.

HUGE update this week.

Ciara - One Two Step.
Lisa Loeb - Stay (I Missed You)
Martha and The Muffins - Echo Beach
Tiki Taane - Always On My Mind
T.Rex - 20th Century Boy

And that's it. 5 measly songs in a two week span. How pathetic.

Stay (I Missed You) is a really good song. That still doesn't compensate for UK's shitty 30+ store update this week.

I've been thinking about Karaoke Revolution a lot lately since it has amazing dlc content (almost all are covers though). Problem is is that the game itself earns mediocre reviews with its underwhelming presentation and long load times.

Trust me, you don't wanna see the list. It's a bunch of international no-namers to Americans. Very Euro-centric and even Euro owners say it's a pile of flamin' shit. :hot:
