Skate 2 - Gen. Discussion & Info - Game is out right now!

I'd wait for Amazon DoTD, unless you are really in a hurry.

So far, I'm having fun. I like how you get money when you do a gnarly crash, 'cause I bail a lot. >_

For some reason I hated the Skate 1 demo, but the Skate 2 demo just pulled me in; I wasted like five hours setting up awesome camera shots. So i'm going to try and pick this up next time I grab some cash.
 
Like I mentioned in the deal thread, Amazon's never been the best at describing their deal. They put "Johnny Cage vs. Iron Man" as a description for MK vs. DC. I'm pretty sure it's the Wii one.
 
Got Skate 2 today, having a lot of fun with it so far! The online co-op challenges are pretty cool in freeskate. Had a few good bails that I thought were funny. If anyone wants to play freeskate or whatever, send me an invite or request!

I'm 5'10" 150lbs and wear an adult small, some of my shirts even feel too big.
 
I'm 5'10 135lbs and I can wear adult mediums, small for long sleeve shirts most of the time though....

I got the game from gamefly so I may keep it since I have gamefly dollars and its only $47.99
 
wow... I highly recommend everyone avoids doing some of the later thrasher challenges... hand planting on separate objects is common for photo shoots with thrasher and that's probably the most broken aspect of the game.

Jesus. I grew up a 3 sport athlete and it still surprises me how big I am compared to most people.

I am 6' 1' but I weigh 210 pounds. Hell and thats down from the 220 I weigh when I played soccer in college.

Anyway....got a shirt..didnt fit at all so I gave it to my friends little sister.
 
This graphic thing is cool, but im having a few problems. Im trying to put "THE 7TH" in one spot, and "NUMBER" in another. But it only seems to allow me 1 text field. Which seems odd.

I'm 6'1/6'2 and i wear small adult sizes. It differs from small to medium depending on the brand/shop etc. Like ReRo i like my t-shirts fitted :)

We should have a t-shirt talk ReRo lol :p
 
This game is amazing until you realize how bad you are at it... I was doing fine until I beat Danny Way, but then the world opened up, I got overwhelmed, and had to fire up The Maw.

It would be an all around better game if there was a one-button restart. Sometimes the session marker just doesn't cut it, and between the menus and gameplay my thumb was sore pretty quick :(
 
I just got it and played a few hours. Im a little disappointed. I thought the game would look better. Sometimes the environment can look like the wii version. Trees, cars, other surroundings can look Wii'ish. I tried death race and the camera kept moving, i barely won cos of that POS, good thing you can change it to a higher camera view which is better IMO. But then the game seemed to have framerate issues with the higher camera angle. Im thinking of installing it to the HD if i have enough room.
 
ROAR! Why the hell did they add a little "are you sure?" question after everything? Its especially annoying when trying to redo a trick mission. You bail, they ask if you want to retry, you put yes, they ask are you sure? fuck you! I hate games that ask this shit, especially when it isnt going to have any major effect to the game like saving over a previous save, or ending your story mode. Having to try these tricks 20+ times in a row, this "are you sure" question is really annoying. To top it off, the question pop ups with NO selected. So you cant even press A really fast to get it to go. No you have to move the cursor to YES and then press A .

Also i hate how they charge you to do some contests. If it takes you 20 times to win, you are fucking broke. I also dont get why they left security in, they are annoying and seem like they have no purpose in the game.

Damn, maybe I shouldn't get this game. There were a lot of frustrating parts in the first Skate that really fucking pissed me off. Security is a piece of shit too.

Are there really people out there that enjoy this masochistic shit? I am not saying that every game should be easy; I am saying every game should try to minimize the frustration factor as much as possible.

I cannot imagine the developers not getting pissed off at the game due to some parts. You would think that once a bunch of people [developers] start getting angry that they would implement things to minimize the chance that someone will get frustrated.
 
I can concur that the game is frustrating but it is very rewarding at the same time. I finished all the tranny, street contests, and all of danny way's challenges. Now I just have to continue on with the career.

Money hasn't been an issue at all for me. Try doing the bonus & career missions first.

I can understand the frustration with the missions, but I've only come accross a few that take me awhile to pull off. I had a problem pulling off foot plants and no-complys but after some practice they've become second nature.

Has everyone forgetten freeskate online? I've also been spending a lot of play time with friends. The co-op missions are a blast.
 
my biggest gripe is the countdown timer in the game... it slows the whole thing down alot.

aside from that, charging to enter contests dosn't happen at all once you get a board sponsor. it states somewhere in the game or manual that once you get the sponsor they pay your way. I can confirm this.

well, I've done nearly everything except for the races and 2 pros. still I am having a blast and the online freeskate portion will keep me coming back.
 
Is there a way to pick which songs are in rotation? I can't seem to find it.

I wish it was like Burnout Paradise, where you can turn songs on and off, or assign a specific song to an event type.
 
Just got to the mission where you have to play S.K.A.T.E. with 2 pro skaters. That shit's fucking impossible. Anyone done it yet?
 
The one for Girl with Erik Koston? Yea i gave that up after I had to wait minimum of like 8 rounds just to get a turn just to have them land everything but a triple kickflip 360...

Thats the only pro challenge i have left. :cry:

I did rack up a lot of money during the last few death races. Completed them all.

This one was tricky. Not really any advice I know of to pull it off easy. I did go into the actual trick menu and looked up both the tail and nose slides. This gave me a better sense of the motion. I started with the tail, gapped doing a 180, and finished with the nose. Took me a good 20 minutes to complete it.

so yesterday I finished all skateboard mag, street comps, thrasher mag, rob's challenges, DW's challenges, properties, etc. so all that's left is the pros, a few races, and spots. I really hate that girl one though.
 
The way you guys talk about this game it makes me not want to get it....unless its like 20 bucks of course.

ya that pro skate with eric koston and the other guy is fucking hard. otherwise great game. The walking around is rediculously stupid though. They couldn't make it worse.

I've got the first one which is the big outdoor mega park. But haven't found any more to buy. Will they unlock througout career or do I find them randomly
 
the properties: there's only 2 so far... I wouldn't be surprised if there will be more as DLC down the line.

after you pay for the $200,000 property money comes too easily.

True, but it wasn't there before so I can't give it a negative mark. It does help but I fell like I'm playing Resident Evil 1 for PS1.

Hopefully there'll be some kinda patch for the impossible Pro S.K.A.T.E. game.

Man some of these challenges are hard. The one you are talking about took me forever. I think its all about luck sometimes. I swear the one where you have to manual hop and manual gap the tree planters, i swear i did it a few times and it wouldnt register. That one is massive hard, and they only give you 30 seconds. Only pro challenge i have left is the girl one.

Only properties i bought so far was the 50k one. I raked in a ton of cash betting on death races. I guess as long as you retry till you win, you wont lose cash. I just kept betting as much as i could for every race. I think i have about 300k.
