Where can you get this . . . where else, Target with a 44% raincheck ( raincheck not available this week :(

I just had to brag . . . the rainchecks are a cool way to be cheap.

My Target never got FFX2 back in stock it was on sale a few weeks ago at 44% off so I purchase substitute games (FFX2 is the game I got my rainchecks for . . . 3 rcs total). I ended up buying FFX2 for $10 from EBGames.com.

I've used my rainchecks to get Sly 2 (yesterday for $22) and last week Pikmin 2 for $28. I'm hoping to apply my 3rd one to Katamari Damacy if Target stocks it . . . next week . . . price would be $12ish

Katamari Damacy is allegedly going to retail for $20. I'd use the RC on something else, personally.

myke.

Yeah, but the raincheck is good until Oct. 8th . . . what else is coming out before then? The only new release I can think of is KD . . .

Plus, I'm hopeful there will another raincheck opportunity in the next few weeks. :D

C'mon just think harder...there's been about a dozen new PS2 releases this month so far and even more to come through September. You've got Demon Stone, Gradius V, Dog's Life, Shellshock 'Nam 67 and Spy Fiction that I can think of offhand.

Also Yu-Yu Hakasho, Star Wars Battlefront, Def Jam Fight for NY, The new DDR, FF XI Chains of Promithia, Headhunter 2, MM X Command Mission, Tiger Woods, X-Men Legneds, 2nd Sight, and Monster Hunter are all slated to ship this next week along with Katamari Daracy too.

Honestly, none of those games do anything for me . . . I would buy some of them next year for $5-10

Of upcoming games, only GTASA, Halo2 (paid for with an EB deal), Metroid 2, Jak 3, Ratchet Clank 3 do much for me. Plus I have a ton of games that I haven't played yet.

I'm not going to buy a game that I'm not crazy about just to "save more" with the Raincheck. I want KD just because it is so unusual and getting it for $12 is better than paying $20.

Point conceded. I avoided buying Turok: Evolution today, even though it was $5 new. I should have purchased it, but I knew I would never play the fucking thing.

Funny . . . I rented that Turok game when it came out . . . really, really, really bad and I loved Turok 2 on the N64.

I shouldn't buy anything with how many games I have on hand and how many unfinished ones I have . . . but a few get me

I never really understood how Target's rainchecks worked. I'm curious as to what they say on them. Why would anyone in their right mind allow people to use a rain check that was originally for FFX-2 (which is about half a year old) on a game like Sly 2 which just came out?

Because, if I'm not mistaken, it says on the raincheck that you can exchange it for another item in the same category or something.. such as CD's or DVD's.

I know, it dosen't seem possible . . . like the discount is too good to be true. There is some fear that if people over exploit this trick, it will vanish!

The raincheck reads:
CHOOSE A SUBSTITUTE
Choose a substitute and receive the same percentage off (listed above) on a regular-priced item within the same product category (i.e. TV for TV, doll for doll, shirt for shirt).

Workers in electronics will sometimes try to say that you can't do it, but managers will override and allow the discount. It must be a good policy for most products . . . and when people are looking for a gift.

By law, they must issue a raincheck for advertised sales (unless there is a written notice) and usually Target workers will give you more than one raincheck.

I remember reading that they were going to end the deal a while ago when they had Madden real cheap and people were going in and asking for ten rain checks. I guess it was only for that particular deal. I still don't understand why they gave this guy three rainchecks at one time. If they do that, they're asking for abuse. And abused they will be.

I don't know the details on the Madden thing (from 2003?) but it seems that some stores MAY have tightened their polices on rainchecks . . . I don't know specifics.

They do continue giving them out and will give you more than one . . . I got 2 and sent my wife to get 2 a day later . . . used one to get Madden CE for a friend $37 I think . . .

I think they are willing to take the loss overall because store traffic is store traffic. For instance, I was in on Tue. looking for Sly 2 . . . ended up buying diapers and kleenix . . . came back and bought Sly on Wed. 2 weeks ago I bought a bunch of school supplies after looking at games . . .
