This really isn't that hard to understand folks. Prices take effect tomorrow (Monday). IF you're lucky enough to find these titles at your local store buy them now, don't open them, return to the store tomorrow (with games and receipt), and ask the store to PRICE ADJUST the titles down to the clearance price.

Worst case if they won't do it you can still return it all and get a full refund.

no...oblivion and oblivion collector's edition are two different things. one will be 9.99 tomorrow and one will not.

So I can't go today. Say I find one tomorrow. Take the game up to the register, and it rings up 50$. I show them the list I printed out. Are they guaranteed to adjust to 2$ just based off a list some random customer printed out, or is there anything else I can do? Help please
 
I'm starting to lose hope that we'll even see any of these games tomorrow. If the clearance prices are $10 a game, most employees would only spend like $100 for 10 games. But $2 a game means each employee will probably nab 50 each because $100 is pretty much chump change to anyone that is working, even with a low hourly wage.

I don't care about being you mean or whatever, but so that means every BB employee will be able to ring up one of the listed games as the clearance price? I just don't wanna go then nobody at the register knows about the list.

Yes just break out the list and they'll price match it for you. Hell if you tell them it also comes with a $50 BB gift card and a Wii they'll throw those in for you as well!

I'll probably find my way to stores in the OP area tomorrow. Also, I'm considering Lawrence but being a midwest college town, the number of hoarders in the area is staggering- never had any luck there with clearances as, from talking with the guys there, usually there are multiple people with lists clearing the place out when it opens. So any KC'ers, especially those in our friendly little thread, PM me with any requests. That said, I guarantee nothing as you know that's what most of us will end up with from this sale...

I pickup lots $9.99 (2 Disc Special Edtion) today & all ringup Buy 1 Get 1 Free (Seven, Unforgiven, Mystic River, Million Dollars Baby, Lost Boy, Poseidon, V-Vendetta, Gothika, Amadues & lots more). Also, Spended extra 45 mins try to digging every single shelves to find the game on the List but none of them can be found. Esspecially, they have 6 copies of Tony Hawk (XBOX 360).

PS. I did asked 2 employee's working on the back room about the Clearance Deal start tomorrow & i got the same answers. "All the instock games in on the FLOOR". It's bad sign at BB Indpendence, MO. I'll hit Lees Summit Bestbuy tomorrow instead (extra 20 mins drive).

As for myself, looked today at opening, didnt look like anything had been done with the games section, and proceeded to find one game off my personal list of about 80 games... left it for tomorrow if I decide to even go back
 
Well, I am NOT going to read through this entire thread (last read it last night - hopefully there hasn't been news in the mean time that it is all a hoax :rofl:), but I just wanted to relate my experience today. From what I read last night I expected all the stores to be cleared out from SD/FW (and CAG). I got to the first one a little after opening Sunday and there didn't seem to be anyone looking for games. Same thing at 2 others later. I found a few pathetic little things (Open Season for DS, other details below) but saw enough other things from the list to make me think 3 things:

1) There are not a lot of people hoarding stuff from this sale, despite what everyone on here last night was assuming.
2) Most of these games were not there to begin with. My evidence for 1 and 2 together is that I did not even see shelf tags and empty spaces for many of the games. This is no big news, but I wanted to reiterate it for people who go on rants about employees and/or FW'ers clearing out the stores.
3) It does not appear that, here anyway, they pulled anything (or much) for the sale.

I was able to snag one of my priorities - Shrek Super Slam for GC. Also got Full Auto for 360 (got a couple so I can trade for some of the others if possible) and few other licensed DS games. Of course no Oblivion CE. Like I said above, only a small fraction of the games were at any given store, but there were several. I passed on many many games in fact, as I don't want to hassle with too much price adjusting.

Will be posting some of these in the trade thread - all pending price adjustment of course. I'm really looking for more of the "lesser" stuff so hopefully those kind of trades will work (as opposed to requesting only Oblivion CE).
 
biggest one for me was Oblivion @$10 - but looking only like CE eh?

lumines psp - 2
katamari damacy - 4
madden 07 HOF edition -10 at least
Monster house - 7 per console
fight night round 3 xbox - 3

some narnia for ps2 - 4 i believe
several of those anime games for ps2, xbox, and gameboy advance but didn't pick any up...

I did have the lady who worked that department hound me all day....she even offered to take my list and look for me and get them together!!! i said no thanks because that wouldve taken the fun out of it!

Look, I feel the need to explain myself. Sorry for not making the sarcasm in my post obvious enough, but I was asking an honest question because you guys seem to be experienced. Judging by how people said they have already called and nobody knew about the deal, I assumed there might be problems ringing up tomorrow. So for those that had done this before, I was asking how to get the clearance if the employee does not seem to know. Maybe that's not an issue, I don't know. But my initial post was sarcastic, I'm sorry. I do not believe an employee will ring up a game 2$ based on somebody's list, so I came on here to ask for some knowledgeable advice.
 
Decided to check out the game section while buying some dvds, my local BB didn't have squat out, no shelf tags no nothing. We'll see how this goes tomorrow.

My only evidence to the contrary is that I know for a fact my store had many of these games in the middle of last week. When I went just minutes after the list was posted, all of the aforementioned games were gone.
 
BB in manalapan, nj has some games. I bought most of them but they have like 12 madden for psp and some other random games. It took me about an hour to go through the whole list, but I left some games for anyone that is just looking for any game to just trade to gamestop or ebgames for store credit.

Even if the employee does not know, all the computer systems and registers will be updated so that the $2 price will show up when scanned. If an employee doesn't know about the clearance, the worst thing that can happen is him saying something like, "Wow, I can't believe it is selling so cheap."

YMMV with printed list. I know my Best Buy will only price match price lists made with crayons and construction paper.

Agreed. I've seen countless Wind Wakers, Soul Caliber 2s, GTA3s, etc. at my Best Buys. They seem to have mysteriously disappeared today so they must be stockpiling them. I just hope they don't throw everything in a clearance bin and instead, organize them in some fashion.

I visited the Best Buy in Canton, OH today and asked both of the employees that were working in the Video Game/Multimedia area and a manager about a possible clearance starting Monday.

No one knew anything about it. The one guy said that price changes usually occur on sunday, and went on to add that nothing had changed this morning.

The manager said that it isn't impossible that there is a clearance. He said that they normally do price changes in the hours before they open. He told me to call tomorrow morning when they open and ask.

On top of that, very few games were there, that were on the list. The PSP seemed to have the most titles (maybe 5), followed perhaps by the gamecube (only 3).

it's kind of odd that someone would buy other Valkeyrie Profiles and leave Popolocrois still left full stock....

I have a feeling alot of the games that are "missing" are out in the back or something...

any confirmation on this?

Anyone in SoCal know if their BB's have any of the clearance games. Went to BB near the South Coast Plaza and they don't have anything. I had an employee check the regional database for a couple of titles, but all showed up as DSC and none available within the region. If anyone knows anything, send me a pm.;)

Like i've said repeatedly i randomly checked in the computer quantities of games for 40-50 random games. pretty much all came up as deleted out of the system and 0 in stock. So unless they removed them all from the computer and are planning to put them BACK into the computer to sell its unlikely they are holding it.

Well, obviously that varies from store to store but it doesn't seem there was a directive to do so or one of the 3 I went to would have done it. They always pull penny guides before they open, so it would be wierd not to do these.

My other point was that even if they did remove stuff, don't assume (unless, like your case you actually saw the games there before) that there was that much to begin with, or anything good ;).

Local store had squat, I would have tried more but snow was making it kinda dangerous. I'm thinking this is going to be a bust for a lot of people
 
I'll be leaving one of my classes early to pick stuff up... I'm scared I won't get there before other people, but seeing as how during the TRU $9.99 sale, which is across the street from my local BB, didn't get a single bite other than me and a friend I probably have good chances.
