anybody went to BB in chicago? i was gonna go after school but no.... someone had to break into my car and steal my shit. Now i cant go...
 
Did anyone checkout the Best Buy in Westwood near UCLA. I used find a ton of good clearence stuff there, because its kinda of hidden inside a parking structure it doesn't get much foot traffic. I'm off this quarter, so I didn't think it was worth the drive to go check it out, but I'm curious if anyone scored anything there.
 
I had some stuff going on this weekend so i was only able to hit one BB on Sat and another on Sunday in Eastern Washington. Both were completely dry of all Xbox360 games which i had mostly been looking for and i know for a fact that half of the ones on the list were there a week ago because i go thru BB at least once a week.

So this AM i got up and immediatly started monitoring this site and Killdeals.net to see if anyone was scoring deals and it seemed like people finding anything was few and far between because the hope of a discount bin appearing never matierialized.

So i left a little late and went to the BB in the boonies and got there about 15 mins after opening with NO HOPE of finding anything. There was about 5 others there going thru the games section hardcore so i knew it would be hard.

But then i saw one of those pillar displays where they put Xbox360 accessories on and there was a stack of 5 Xbox360 Quake 4, wanted this game and i had brought a bunch of the $5 off any 360 game coupon so i grabbed them all. Went thru the other sections and found a PSP Valkery Profile Lenneth and Xbox Deb Jam. The cashier was totally cool and let me do seperate transactions for each of the 360 games. So i scored them all for $37 plus tax, thanks OP and everyone else like Vahn who contributed to this thread!!!
 
I know it's a long shot, but has anyone in the myrtle beach area of south carolina been the the BB to see if this is going on? I'll probably just call...

Friend & I hit 7 Different Best Buys In Maryland. All in all people buying games were cool. My friend saw one guy hoarding (The guy snagged like 5 copies of Mario Party 7 & 4 Copies of one of the GC Zeldas), but most grabbed one copy of each game a piece, as did I. SO I hope others had some luck as well. Here's a breakdown of each store. Every store I checked Madden '07 on PSP and it was $29.99 at every one, so this was definately an error on the OPs part, or just extremely YMMV.

Arundel Mills - Nothing. Pretty new store, so not much of a surprise on the lack of anything. This was the only store we hit on Sunday.

Glen Burnie - They Didn't have anything really. When I asked, they said they had nothing for it. Did a brief look around, saw pretty much nothing.

Security Blvd - Friend went their and snagged about one game.


Columbia - The best one I hit today for me. Got there 30 min into this and the selection was still decent. Snagged 10 games there. Worker here claimed the sale started Saturday.

Wheaton - Friend had some luck there. He picked up about 5 to 8 games.

Shady Grove - Both of us hit this one together and got about 4 games total.

Rockville - Checked out this store together also. Nothing at all. Looked like they didn't have much to begin with.

Missed the Laurel store, kinda regret it, but oh well. Tis life right. LOL

The BB in Frederick, MD only had Darkwatch at $1.99. I didn't look for any PS2 games, but they were dry on other xbox, 360, DS and PSP titles.
 
People the games aren't gone because people are hoarding (or at least, not most of the time) These is a clearance sale, basically meant to clean up on what they missed from Inventory. It's not as if every store had 3 copies of every game on that list this morning and now they're all gone. most of those games aren't at most Best Buys and haven't been since the inventory took place. Your luck will depend on how good (or bad) of a job they did on inventory back in January.

This is like a shot in the dark (but you're too late, you give love a bad name, uh huh)

Yeah my store had 5 or so. I snagged one for the kids. There wasnt much to choose from. I saw a few others with lists but I didnt see any major hording going on. Most of us seemed to be there for a few items for personal use but there was a lot of empty slots. Either my store sold stuff last night or someone was in and out of there by 10:05 today.

Late to the party as usual. West L.A. said they're sold out of theirs; Westwood wasn't very helpful, but said they didnt' have many to begin with. Don't think I'll bother as it's a little out of my way and will be late when I could get there. Oh well.
 
Although I said I wasn't going to go, I stopped by my local Best Buy after my classes.

Oddly enough they still had stuff left. I found the only game I wanted out of the sale (NHL 2K6 for Xbox 360), which I was happy about. :)

I did find a copy of Dynasty Warriors 5 for Xbox 360, but even at $10 the game didn't seem worth it.

Funny thing, about 3 minutes after I entered the store, about 8 people will lists came in. Too bad the store didn't have 99% of the stuff on the list.

Same trend near NYC as well - I got so lucky snagging a $300 XBox 360 with $100 gift card at the Times Square TRU two days before Christmas.

really? I went to the one in Mesa yesterday and it seemed like slim pickings to me! at least for GC, GBA, DS, and 360. oh well. I snoozed and losed. haha.
 
I found a copy of the Oblivion Collector's Edition but when I had them do a price check it rang up at $59. Do they need to total it out before the discount shows up? I assume they don't.
 
Emeryville, CA BB was picked clean...although from the looks of things they didn't have much stuff to begin with. Only a few actually had cards marking where they should have been.

Saw a 60GB PS3 if anyone is having trouble finding them in the East Bay, though.
 
If this information is really true, then I gotta get down to Best Buy!! (jk, my mom looked into this this morning). She hasn't gotten back yet from her errands, etc. I hope she comes home with some awesome games!! I printed the list and checked off some good games for me to keep as well as some for her to make a profit off of on eBay. I TRUELY hope that my nearest Best Buy is doing this and that they have a bunch of the games on that list that I want...PLEASE!! :D:D
 
I went to Best Buy here in San Bernardino, CA. and looked around. I saw a manager going online [using a computer on the videogame section] checking out the games and comparing it with a list he found in KOTAKU.

Afterwards, I asked a guy there if they had the clearance games. He replied, "sorry, we don't have ANY of the games.. I already checked."

*sob*

Oh well, I still have my videogame backlog to do anyway. I knew there was a very slim chance to find any game.
 
Here's my story. I went to 4 Best Buys and there was literally NOTHING.
I got to the first at opening, and it seemed that EVERYONE and their grandmother knew about this sale (thansk a lot digg). People were literally lined up outside the doors at 9:30am. But the joke was on them. When we got in they had NONE of the games listed but ONE copy of Windwaker that some old lady grabbed.

EVERYONE had printed out lists in their hands.

Every other Best Buy was the same thing. People wandering with lists of games the stores didn't have. At one Best Buy an employee told me that someone at the store heard about it the night before, and most of the employees themselves had shelved them in the back and bought them themselves. While the other stores knew nothing about them, but didn't have any of the games listed.

So out of an hours work, 4 stores, I only came up with copy of Samurai Western that i'll just amuse myself with for a while. I saw NOTHING else but one other copy of Jak 3. And that was it.

So count these Chicago area stores out....

I have to say I was quite surprised when I walked in to the Natomas BB in Sacramento and they actually had new yellow tags on the paceholders indicating the new prices. I was able to price adjust the VP Lenneth and Tomb Raider Legend PSP I picked up this weekend with no problem and picked up Popolocrois for $9.99 and an Xbox Godfather for $4.99 as well as a Godfather CE for Xbox for $9.99. On my way home I hit the Citrus Heights BB and they too had changed the prices on the placeholders and was able to pick up there:

Generation of Chaos PSP x2 $1.99
NHL 2K6 360 $4.99
Samurai Champloo PS2 $4.99
Muppets Party Cruise (lol @ this one but for the price wth) $1.99

Also scored a Goodfellas and Bullitt 2 disc editions with the BOGO promo as well as the last 300 DVD w/ ticket...all in all spent $26.xx and left with all that. I think I made out pretty decently from this sale. Thx CAG!
 
Check the Bestbuy in NYC NoHo and there is nothing there....just lots of empty spaces where the games use to be....damn....the employee working the gaming section doesn't seem to know about the clearance......wonder where all the games went....anyone else in NYC check the other BB? I couldn't since i jsut got off school.
 
For anyone who lives in Chicago Wester Suburbs have you gone to the Hip?( Harlem Irving Plaza). I'm going there but I'll probally find nothing. It's kind of a ghetto area.
 
Went to BB today, and they only had maybe 10 titles total, most junk and only about 3 that were $1.99. Even though I'm in a relatively small area, still seemed to be a lot of gamers who were looking. I picked up Sonic Riders for $1.99 and Scooby Doo Unmasked for $4.99.
 
Springfield, OR location was picked clean. Somebody obviously was ready to raid pretty much everything. All I was able to pick up was Mario Tennis: Power Tour (GBA) and Mega Man Marverick Hunter X (PSP). There wasn't much left besides lots of copies of Ultimate Spider-Man (PS2). It seemed they had a decent share of $1.99 GBA games, with price tags for many of the titles, but looks like anything that was tagged $1.99 was taken by one person.

North Riverside
Elston & Armitage
Evanston

Out of all the them I managed to get only one game I was looking for:

Mega Man Anniversary Collection (Xbox) $4.99

Didn't see any of the 360 games except for FFXI (and I left it cuz I didn't think spending $10 on a game I was only going to play for 1 month was worth it). Like someone else who posted earlier, I did find a 99 cent Superman bust. And I took advantage of the DVD glitch and bought Amadeus and Citizen Kane on DVD for $9.99. Even the Amadeus DVD was hard to find. Three of the BB I went to were sold out of it.

Since I was looking for mainly the 360 games, I'd say I am dissapointed.
 
Picked up VP, Budokai 3, Madden 2006 (hey, $1.99. Meets my one madden every five years quota), and the Warriors. Best Buy in Slidell, Louisiana. Otherwise, it was pretty stale. Was looking for Lumines, UGaG, and a few other random, probably-good-I-didn't-find-them titles.

Went to four stores and only snagged a copy of Quake 4 for 360 @ $5 after coupon and a couple of 2/$10 DVDs.

I was able to find a copy of Oblivion:CE for 360 but it rang up at $59, I even had them total it up at the register with the rest of my stuff and no dice.

Unless you like the kid games, the only game that stopped to make me think about buying was Tony Hawk American Wasteland for Xbox 1. Other than that, they had just about nothing. In fact, all the stores had nothing...except:

North Riverside had several Popopolous (sp?, PSP)
Evanston had a ton of FFXI (Xbox 360)

I went to Best Buy, just now, and it was weird.

First of all, there were 3 carts, 2 were full of GBA and PSP games, but had no prices. PSP games like NCAA 07, Coded Arms, etc, so I didn't think those were marked down. Also had a bunch of Mario GBA games.

1 cart was empty except for a few DVD's, Nanobreakers, Urbz DS, and GTA:SA GH. Also a scan gun :) But odd thing is, Nano and Urbz had stickers on them, with Nano as $9.99 and Urbz $14.99. They also had UPC stickers placed overtop of the game UPC....... I rang up the sticker UPC's and they matched the high prices. So I took off the stickers and rang game UPC's, and they were $2.

I was very confused. I think they were trying to trick people.

Anyway, I snagged 3 copies of Nanobreaker and 1 Urbz for DS.

I didn't see anything noteworthy for PS2 there. Granted, I was only looking for the top games for PS2 (Killzone, We Love Katamari, Wild Arms 4, etc).
