small tv to 150" projection auctions... what are they actually about?

Basically they send you two paper sized "lenses" and instructions on making a wooden boxes which houses the little TV. You apply the lenses over the front of the TV, flip it upside down and hang the whole contraption from your ceiling and it projects onto a wall. I personally haven't done this, but I've heard it's a fun weekend project for $10 and it works good in complete darkness as long as you don't care about picture quality.
