SMT: Nocturne $59.99 used @gamestop.com

That musta just recently went up. I got it instore for $27.99 + discount a few months ago, and more recently its been $35-40 used.

Theres someone in Texas at GS corp HQ thats only job is to check the prices of games on ebay... lol

not to thread crap but this is actually kinda old. it goes in and out of stock probably once a week. theres a chance youll get a complete copy with the soundtrack but i think a better chance you will get a resurfaced disk only... good luck to whoever feels ballsy

It must have been more than a few months ago, because it was already $45 (before discounts) last year when I bought mine.

I sold my sealed copy and guide on ebay for almost $200 about two months ago...this game, along with Digital Devil Saga 1 are becoming VERY pricey on ebay...

EDIT: Oh, and this isn't really a deal, so this might be moved to discussion....

Atlus printing a limited run + perhaps the best RPG on the PS2 = yeah, it's that rare.

I definitely suggest anyone who doesn't mind getting a possibly incomplete copy to get the game. It's awesome.

A perfect example of, "You snooze, you loose".

Let this be a lesson to those who "snoozed" while the rest of us bought it on release day. Muhawhaw!

Excellent game BTW. Even for $60.

LOL I remember picking this up for like half off at Toys R Us shortly after release.

Got desperate and traded the disc only to gamestop in one of those +40% deals.

$50 shipped with AFF25.

This has been in stock for a few days-- I ordered one on Sunday. If it arrives mint and complete, I'll suspect a reprint.
Let this recently ended auction be your guide:

Can you say HOLY CRAP PILES....
i saw that also. i was watching that auction. im very tempted to sell my sealed copy (i got it recently for $30 :applause:). and i also have the used copy i got for my birthday last april (pretty much got it for $20 or less since they had the B2G1 promo at GS). but im waiting around christmas to unload 1 or maybe both.

for those who do not know, this game received a very limited release. atlus did a second print run of the game but it still wasnt enough. i highly doubt that they will again unless it reaches to the point again where disgea 1 was selling at $90+ used. it was towards the end of summer but now its back to lower prices again.

note: if you do happen to get the game from GS.com as disc only, email atlus and tell them you bought it and does not come with the manual or case art. i think they charge like $3 for each + shipping.

I refuse to buy Atlus's games simply because they produce limited quantities in order to hype the game and boost sales. Same thing happened with Disgaea, Digital Devil Saga 1, & 2. Disgaea 2 surprisingly has stayed relatively low. I'll pick this up when they have a reprint for $39.99

actually, everything after DDS1 can be easily found for retail price or less.

and Disgaea 2 was published by NIS America.

Disgaea 1 and 2 as well as Nocturne are all showing up as Pub. by Atlus.

Maybe that's on Gamestop.com, but check Atlus.com and NIS' site-- Disgaea 2 is an NIS game. Disgaea 1 and Nocturne are Atlus.

this really isn't surprising to me considering the store I work at sells copies of disgaea 1 and marvel vs capcom 2 for $59.95 a piece.

Correct you are. Thank you for the correction, but it still stands that the prices are insane considering brand new games for the PS2 are coming out at $39.99

had a feeling this game was going to be rare when it came out, and glad I bought it brand new for 49.99 when it came out..but can't believe how insane the ebay prices are, almost close if not on par with buying a Valkyrie Profile "Brand new" game for that price.

Edit: I found it interesting that the VA-MD area has at least 1-3 copies of the game compared to other states..I remember checking this game brand new last year and almost no GS in the country had it, except for the VA-MD area..I wonder if these areas are not a great hotbed for RPG's that it's easy to find rare Atlus titles.

No, they do this because they are a small publisher and can't afford and don't want too many unsold copies. There games are usually easy to find in the first few weeks. In the case that it is not (Rivera GBA), it got a second shipment right away.

Representatives of Atlus on the Atlus.com forums have stated over and over that they will not be reprinting Nocturne or Digital Devil Saga ever, or any other game for that matter--any more. They have in the past with games like Disgaea and Persona 2, but they decided it wasn't worth tarnishing their reputation and dealing with upset RPG collectors. Don't hold your breathe for a reprint, ever.

its possible that the rating for this game (M) was also to blame. isnt this the first M rated rpg to come out in the U.S.?

and speaking of reprints, Persona 3 had a limited print also. im not really sure if they're really doing this on purpose, but it worked. for a short time you couldn't find that game here in nyc. even the atlus store was oos. now its back in stock i believe. and ive seen all the kmarts with 2 copies of them. i heard they are re-releasing just the game without the extra. im sure it cost them alot to produce them.

That's soem of the dumbest shit ever ever heard (what they said on the forums, not you). So they woudl rather cater to collectors that have sealed copies on their shelves, never to be played than to give people a reasonable price and a chance to enjoy the game so that they may buy Atlus's future games. Yeah, that's smart alright.

haha, i cant believe the used copy costs more than when it was new. i should've bought a second one new for $10 when my TRU was closing

It's pretty retarded to bitch about the number of copies Atlus prints of their games. They've been doing this for years now. Everyone and their brother knows that Atlus only prints what they *know* they can sell. They're not EA, they serve a niche audience, and the financial burden from unsold copies or copies sold at a discount is not something they want to bear. If you want an Atlus game, either pre-order it or take your chances picking it up on release day. Otherwise, you lose your right to bitch...coming along a year later and whining about not being able to pick it up for retail earns you NO sympathy.

Whiners have been served.

true true, but that only concerns the niche niche market... i like RPGs, but not gonna spend $45 for the games (new or used). If the game went up $200 on eBay, big fucking deal. Congrats to those sold/brought it at the price and all happy ending :)

I found my self trying to get some old old games recently then only to realize that i never gonna play them... I collect things, but the notion of buying games (or movies) just b/c i can or i want to and not really playing them troubles me. Why? i understand for profits, but i'm not interested in that...
Maybe the only satisfaction i get from it is that "yes, i got it, cool!"

Anyhow, i think some people find this a deal at $60... Enjoy!

95% of games can be found for 1/3 of their original msrp 6 months after release these days. I am not going to buy every game I want to play on release day on the off chance it becomes collectible, much less two copies. For every DDS1 there is a DDS2 and for every Marvel vs Capcom 2 there are 40 other fighters.
and Disgaea 2 was published by NIS America.
But it was distributed by Atlus USA, which may be why GS lists them as the publisher.

I dunno how ridiculous it is really though, I mean it works for Disney afterall...

You're right, but that wasn't really what I was talking about. I bought SMT: Nocturne on release day to (GASP!) play it. I could personally care less about collector habits and game values. It's an excellent RPG, and that's why I picked it up when it came out.

Ordered 3 of these hoping to get a complete copy.
No dice - all disc only all scratched to hell. Local Store will soon have 3 copies.

lol Pooky you just described every experience with gamestop.com that I've ever had.

Nocturne is a great game.

I believe the first Shadow Hearts just beat it.
got mine on ebay with soundtrack and guide for $42 shipped. $60 is outta my price range even for a rare game.
Thats a steal considering i just sold the guide for $50.

haha, thats is precisely why I dont buy used games from gamestop.com. Not worth the hassle even for rare games.

Yeah I noticed that. Nippon Ichi seems to use Atlus and KOEI for distribution.

I'd been looking for this for so long, I caved in and bought one... luckily one of the two stores that had it, had it complete with soundtrack... 47.99 out the door
