I played the demo for Sniper Elite V2 over the weekend and pretty much fell in love with this game. I figured I would make an official post about it to get people talking.

Preorders from Gamestop include the bonus mission Kill Hitler (which is awesome!) and a bullet-shaped keychain that says Kill Hitler on it [CUSTOMSPOILER=Keychain]

• Multiplayer – 2 player online co-op:

• Kill Tally – As waves of enemies storm in players must race against the clock to eliminate as many as possible in order to achieve the highest possible kill count.

• Bombing Run – Gamers must escape a scheduled bombing run but the only getaway vehicle is broken. Before the bombs fall, the area must be searched for parts and fuel while remaining unseen.

• Overwatch – Players combine separate skillsets as a sniper and an operative and work in tandem to take out enemies.

• Campaign – Fans play through the single-player campaign with a friend.

I downloaded the demo last week. I may go pick it up. Killing Hitler should be fun and the keychain would be look. I like the slomo bullet travel time with xray visuals.

I never played the first one. Hope its good.
 
I never played the first one either, but it got good reviews. I think this game is going to be great. Speaking of the slow-mo shots, I added a link of the guys at Game Informer playing this game. It contains an awesome crotch shot you must see.

Played the demo yesterday, seems cool I guess. Not sure on replayability but multiplayer would be cool. Might pickup eventually when it gets cheaper in a few months, as theres still a tonne of games I need to pick up and a few big upcoming titles I want.
 
I added some info on the online co-op game types. I also added a picture of the preorder keychain and information on the Kill Hitler DLC.

Unless they release competitive multiplayer as a DLC, only co-op will be available as far as online features. I was thinking about replayability and when I played the demo, I found that the great thing about the game was you had many different options as far as how to take out your enemies. I would go one way and do one thing, and get killed, so I had to be creative and do something else. For me personally, replaying the single player just to find all the new ways to kill and different routes to take to do it would give the game some added replayability. Plus the co-op features sound very fun.
 
Kinda pissed off they didn't have competitive MP on consoles, the SP replayability only goes so far, and thry have the competitive MP on PC, why not just port it over to consoles?

Yeah, I'm disappointed in that as well, but mainly because the PC version has it and consoles won't. If the PC version didn't have it, I wouldn't care either way really. I have a million team death match games, lol. But I am more excited about the co-op stuff anyway. It seems very unique. However, if they release the competitive MP through free or even paid DLC, I will get it for sure. I never played the original, so I don't know how awesome the multi was. So maybe that's why I'm not too upset about it.
 
Wow, the bullet detail going though the body is great. The controls are a bit irritating being a RSV vet. I may pick this up for cheap later. Has some good qualities, but doesn't feel polished enough to be an expensive game.
 
Played thru the demo about 4 times last night and today. I love it.

I will most likely pick it up when it hits the $20 mark.

Nice! I only played the demo once, but it made a great impression on me. I think I will play it again tonight if I have time.
 
Everyone I have showed the demo off to falls in love with it. The running and the camera are a little wonky. I like the WW2 setting, but I would have like to see some modern missions as well, along with modern sniper rifles. I also wish there was a replay feature so I could watch my nastiest shots over again with me in control of the slow-mo and camera angles. (some of this might be in the final game, I don't know tho) I hope there are a couple missions where you have to make impossibly long shots. The longer the better.

I like messing around in the demo and doing different things. The hardest difficulty is pretty tough, but it is that much more rewarding when you pull off awesome shots. No little red dot in the realistic setting, and you have to adjust for wind.

I think I might give it another go tonight... I've been wanting to lay some dynamite near the motorcycle that the "target" goes for cover after he runs out of the convoy. Then simply shoot the dynamite lol.

I've had some awesome kills. A couple 2 for 1s, some shots directly in the eye, a shot that severed 4 of the enemy's fingers (lol). Shots in the mouth are always funny.

I love the sound of the bullet smashing thru the helmet. Why are they even wearing helmets? lol They aren't very effective against my rifle, as well as hitting a target on the run right in the skull.

BTW, co-op sounds awesome. I don't know if the achievement list is out yet, but they could really do some cool and creative stuff with the cheevos.
 
I had a chance to try out hte demo last nite. I loved it! I felt like Pvt Jackson from Saving Private Ryan. Definitely going to have to get this next week. Thanks for the tip on this demo, OP!
 
Gamestop.com removed the Hitler and bullet keychain preorder bonuses from their website. I'm sure that just means they are no longer available as part of the pre-order if you did it now since the game releases tomorrow, but when I pick up my copy after work tomorrow, I will post here to let you guys know what to expect. Anyone else picking it up tomorrow?
 
Ok. I called my local Gamestop to get some clarification on the keychain. The girl said they have them, but it's limited so pre-orders done in the past week or two might not get them. Mine was ordered just over 2 weeks ago, but she looked it up and said I'll get one. That kind of sucks for people who wanted it and won't get it. I guess we'll see if I actually get one tomorrow. I normally don't care about these things, but the keychain looks badass, lol.
 
Well, the keychain is a little on the weak side. The manager of the GS I shop at showed me one today. I was expecting something the size of a 30-06 cartridge since the game advertised the 1903 Springfield. Instead it's smaller than .223 round. It is shiny though. I'll give it that.

That's disappointing. The picture looks cool, lol. Either way, I'll take it!

The game is out now. I won't be playing it until tonight, but I'm excited to hear everyone's take on it.
 
Unfortunate update, possibly. I just got a call from a fellow CAG who said he went to pick up his pre-order and Gamestop told him they didn't have it yet. They gave him his keychain and told him to come back next week. I called my Gamestop yesterday and they told me to come in today. So I don't know if some stores got them and some didn't. An Admin on the official forums posted this morning telling everyone it comes out today in the US when people posted complaints. Don't know why there is so much confusion here. If anyone can shed some light before I can this evening, please do so.
 
Ok, so no good update. I got a text from Gamestop telling me to come in tomorrow to pick it up, but then I went in today just for the hell of it and they said their computer says May 10th. So we'll see tomorrow I guess.
 
That sucks. I have a friend who I showed the demo to that was going to buy it today. I guess he will just have to wait. I am going to wait for a sale ;), I just can't afford to buy games at launch anymore (one of the main reasons I joined CAG).

It was released on steam today... so if you are dying to play tonight, that is one path you can take.
 
The May 9th/10th update is an error, it'll either be in tomorrow or, at the latest, Friday. Developers have confirmed that the copies are en route to retailers.

That's what I read too, so I was suprised when the store's computer still showed next week. I will call them before I leave work to see if they have it, and if I can pick it up. I'll keep everyone updated as soon as I know anything.
 
Ok, I have another update. I just got off the phone with my local Gamestop and they confirmed they now have the game in their store and I can pick it up today. So if you guys were waiting until they received them, it looks like the stores got them in stock this morning and you should be able to grab it now.
 
Ok, got the game in my hands! Very excited to play it after work tomorrow. The DLC code printed on the receipt at Gamestop. The keychain is actually very nice. It's got some weight to it. Good quality. I like it.
 
Unfortunately this game is getting hammered by reviewers :(... Currently a 65 on metacritic.

I think that is good news though for all of us CAGs who were waiting for the price to plummet.
 
I am the only one having issues getting people to play this game? I added 5 new people from random forums to my list that wanted to play either they want to solo stuff or never play it like they said they wanted to with others. I have 5 regular friends that have the game as well and they all rarely play it. They say they love it but what is up?

I tried playing with randoms and i will never do that again for a team work type game. They all act like gods and go cod style and die most of them right away. I guess another reason nobody playing this game?

The game is amazing until you put about 10-15 hours into it then you feel like rebuying SE1 for original xbox and play that. Do not get me wrong this game is amazing but the first one is so much more reply value and stuff to do. It feels like this is half a game if that. I can tell they put time into making it great for how it is but man i miss 1000+ meter snipes and what made the first one amazing.

I support this game but i hope they do bigger maps dlc for missions. I am happy i spent 55 with tax it was worth it. I just hope enough people buy this so they make a 3rd one and maybe listen to all the recommendations others are saying.

Also they seem to be putting all there time into the pc version cause they paid out of pocket for the pc release and not the consoles. What a wrong move if they do for consoles also that be sweet but the way they worded stuff makes you want to B slap them. :)

I kinda gave up looking for others to play this with i only need 5-6 more bombing run wins and then i will never do mp again unless dlc. To much work trying to get people to coop this game..

Wait on buying it if you have someone to do the online achievements with if you care about that stuff. The online community on this game is low after release so over time it will be a dead zone. You can not do overwatch or bombing run missions solo which is a huge mistake i think cause nobody around to play with unless you lucky to find a reliable person. They should of did a AI replacement for overwatch and let me snipe or mark. But hell only 3 map locations and small to per mode is just sad. It backs up my point in the other post this game feels half there.

Great game but will be dirt cheap in no time. GL with finding someone to play with through.

You can add me bud. I have a million games to play, but I do want someone else to play this with sometimes. Right now, my buddy is thinking of selling his copy because he got stuck playing with someone who made him play on hard and did all run and gun, so my friend hated it, so I won't be playing with him much longer most likely. I don't get a chance to play games as often as I would like, and as I said, my backlog is stupid big, but I do want to play this with people as well as do the campaign solo. So hit me up if you want.

yeah i like to stealth kill run n gun if overwhelmed then bunker down n use trips n mines. i like trying to beat my scores. i sent a FR invite
 
Love this game - as expected, it's all I've been playing the past few days. I think I'm almost done with single player, and it's been a blast. I'm doing a run through on the easiest difficulty right now, my next playthrough will be on a harder difficulty.

Awesome dude. I love the game too, well, whatI played so far. I am almost ready to put a good amount of time into the game. I thought I would have before now, but time hasn't been on my side lately.

seen u pop on n off for a few days never accepted. it happens so often i guess why others say add me. The fun of the game ran out long ago playing 1st coop split. also ghost coming soon. i got worn out mostly from trying to play with randoms.

No worries dude. I am addicted to Max Payne 3 now anyways, lol. Though I do want to tackle Sniper soon since I love that game, too. So many games, so little time.
 
I just got this game through Gamefly and it is totally great. It is the surprise game of the year for me personally. First time in awhile me and metacritic have had a big difference of opinion. Had a great time from start to finish and the co op is great too! Highly recommended!
 
The official Sniper Elite V2 Facebook page said they will be announcing some news soon that will make console players happy. Maybe they are going to add some sniping deathmatch and team deathmatch modes? I will post here when I get the official word.
