Honestly, if you haven't played the previous games, I wouldn't bother. Much of the appeal is storyline resolution, and much time is devoted to moments of fan-service that if you haven't played the others, will just seem "Yeah, okay, great. So what?" instead of awesomesauce.

Anyway, I'd say MGS4 ... though The World Ends With You and Smash Bros are pretty close. I expect Fallout 3 to possibly dethrone Metal Gear in the fall, but you never know.
