So far, such a disapppointing summer for video games
Just depends on what you like. I have no interest in any of those other than mild interest in NG2.
I'll admit I'm not a big NG fan, but I did enjoy the demo to the 2nd.

DBZ-fuck anime and anime games
DBZ is far from being one of my favorite animes, yet I enjoyed the game. I'm more of a Naruto fan when it comes to anime.
GRID- not into racers
TBH, it was a game I cared less about, until I played it.
Hot Shots- hate golf, even casual golf games like this
It's one of my favorite series.
Lost Planet- played the 1st one, mediocre at best
Colonies actually fixes many problems.
MGS4- hate the MGS series and stealth games in general
I've been into MGS, but MGS4 makes me like the series even more.
Secret Agent Clank-mediocre game in a tired series
What??? The R&C series is fantastic IMO. I absolutely love the series and find Secret Agent Clank pretty fun. Not as good as the main R&C games like Future, UYA, and GC, but is still lots of fun.
SingStar-hate karoke games.
I like KR, but this is my first SingStar. I just find lots of joy watching people along with singing to many awesome songs myself (and having over 200 to download). I play it daily.
4. Plenty of shit to do outside in the summer-hiking, concerts, summer blockbusters to see, fishing etc.
I hate hiking, not really into going to concerts, NEVER go out to a movie theater, and despise fishing. But that's my opinion there. ;)

I liked the first couple games a lot, but they ran the series into the ground. Platformer franchises need one game a generation, two tops.

I'm sick to death of it, much less to play spinoffs that aren't as good as the main games.

Yes, we all know you have no life and sit in your parents home all day and bitch about how controlling they are. And bitch about having too many games all the time.
Not sure how much of you guys would agree with me, but so far, my summer purchases have been extremely disappointing.

1. Ninja Gaiden 2 - I have no problems with the difficulty or lack of story since this game is all about the action, but the sloppy programming that has caused multiple lock-ups, game ending glitches and system freezes are terrible. Even such a simple thing as leaderboards is affected.

2. Metal Gear Solid 4 - This was my first Metal Gear game, and the only reason I bought it was because of the great money back deals out there for the 80gb bundle (thank you CAG for that). The gameplay was not bad, and at times, it was great, but given that nearly half the game is cutscences (many of which are not good and horribly dull/repeatative/pretentious), I could say with confidence that if I ever decide to play it again, I will skip 90% of the cutscences without hesitation.

3. Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Remix Beta - I realize that I didn't purchase this beta, but rather bought Commando 3, however I did not care for that game and only spent the 800 points for the beta. I knew beforehand that a beta is simply that, but the fact that the game freezes and I can't even test it out is ridiculous.

Sorry for the vent, but these are the only purchases I've made recently, and they are all huge disappointments. Anybody else agree or have other titles they'd like to add to the summer of disappointment?
1. I'll agree with you on NGII being buggy, i've already run into a few weird glitches, thankfully nothing game ending but it enough to go what the hell was that???

2. You started the franchise at the last game in the series, of course the cutscenes wouldn't mean anything to you. Without playing MGS and MGS3 90 percent of the game doesn't have any real emotional impact. Like someone earlier said its like starting Lord of the Rings at movie three, yeah you can do it but its awkward at best. While MGs4 does try to explain some things the explanations are brief at best, I mean The Boss had her story summed up in about 10 seconds. That was damn near the entire plot of MGS3 cut to 10 seconds.

3. Its just a beta, no big deal. All of that will be fixed for the real game

Personally i'm loving this summer but i'm also going broke fast buying all this stuff. I still need to finish GTA 4 , Rainbow Six Vega 2, Crisis Core and a bunch of other stuff I bought within the last few months. Thankfully July is looking skimpy so I can get some stuff out of the way.

if you compare it to last summers releases this years is much better....last year we had forza 2 in late spring, this year gt prolog...last year there was spiderman 3, pirates of the caribean, command and conquer, the darkness, call of juarez...this year we have ninja gaiden 2, mgs4, battlefield bad company, command &conquer expansion thingy, civilization...it has been a much better first half of the year compared to last year.

man yallz gotta spend the summer playing Terranigma!

I aint lying too... I'ma be all over this
it's flipmode you dodo brain!!
 it's been a while since I've listened to it.

also, I'm more of a urine brain than dodo thank you very much!

One of my favorite things about Terranigma was how it looked like someone put together the logo in five minutes using WordArt.

Also the soundtrack was pretty good.

You can thank GTA IV and MGS 4 for that. Both are massive bomb shells, and no one is going to put out a high profile game near those two.

After beating GTAIV and MGS 4, I'm playing some old games for the first time: Marvel UA and New Super Mario and Okami is next on my list. Great summer so far...
This is all part of The Annual Summer Gaming Drought. The only bad thing about gaming each year.
Thats the thing though.....there really isnt a drought this year.

I find it hard to belive that anyone, outside of those who game for a living, can be upset by a "so-called" drought. Do you all *reallly* power thru that many games so quickly? Granted, I know I game slowly, but I there are still plenty of games that came out Christmas or earlier that I haven't had a chance to play. I'm glad that my most anticipated title (Force Unleashed) wont be out till much later as it give me a chance to finsh GTA4 and start other games like Mass Effect and BioShock (which I note *did* come out last SUMMER).

With all the talk about "backlogs" that popup on this site, I am suprised to see drought complanits. Though really, nothing *should* suprise me on 'teh interwebz'.

The only people I can see being upset are the picky gamers that only play one or two genres. I mean hell my DS and PSP alone have kept me busy as hell....forget adding in the consoles. But I could see if you only own a console or a combo of 2 consoles and only play 1 genre such as RPGs or action games it seeming worse.

That's pretty much it. I have pretty narrow interests and just own a 360 and DS, so I've not been impressed. It's more just that I don't like GTA or MGS and that's the main games that have everyone else stoked.

But like I said, I really don't care as I don't game that much in the summer anyway and I have plenty of older games I can buy cheap and play through if I need something new to play.

Bad idea to start with MGS4 it was clearly made for fans of the series, who had followed the ridiculous story and wanted all strings tied up. And it did, and I loved it.

But for the non-MGS fan I could see how it was a bad experience if you didnt skip the cutscenes and codecs.

Summer has been good so far actually, GTA4, MGS4...those dont catch your eye play older games. There's a ton out there
