So if i get my mail on PO Box, but i can get delivery from UPS or FedEx at home, can i change my shipping address to my house address instead of PO Box? because i cant get day one shipping on PO BOX....how do you get your video games when you order from Amazon.com? through the mail or someone actually delivers it to your house like UPS or FedEx?

can anybody help me out here?

I usually get the free shipping and it goes through USPS. The tracking really sucks, and they leave it on the doorstep. However, UPS and FedEx both leave packages as well, so the only real advantage to UPS and FexEX is the tracking.

I don't know if this is an option for you, but you can have them ship it to your work address. I know at my work, they will bring it to my desk and either leave it there, or have someone sign for it and leave it on my desk. I think there is something you have to do w/your credit card company to give them your work address, since the billing and shipping addresses won't match (but I'm not sure about that).

I always wondered...can you tell them to ship it via a certain company? They always use UPS for me, and my house has to be like the last house on UPS guy's route. I don't get packages till at least 6pm, absolute latest being 8:30pm. FedEx on the other hand, usually before or around noon.

I have Amazon Prime and I noticed that anything I have come during the week comes via UPS. Anything that comes on Saturday and the occasional Monday comes via Fed Ex.

the free super saver shipping i get the through parcel post ( which delivers through usps) regular paid shipping ups.

I want to pass along a VERY important note regarding Amazon and the big change they're starting to make regarding shipping of orders. This is not an anti-Amazon post by ANY means, I love the company..they've always given what's been promised on time, in excellent condition and as promised which is why I'm a bit upset over the change they're making regarding shipping. I lucked out totally with my experience but I want to pass this change on to others so they'll be aware of it.

Middle of last month, I ordered that new massive 15 DVD Tonight Show with Johnny Carson DVD set. They shipped it a day ahead of it's official release which I thought was cool until I saw who they were shipping it through. You see, they're starting to ship orders via Ensenda..it's like a speedy delivery type service. Many MANY people's shipments through them are going missing or not showing up at all. Now as I said, I lucked out BIG time the next day. My package did come, and in good condition. The delivery guy pulled up in a Budget rental truck though! That was so bizarre to see that! Amazon says they are gradually shifting to this company for shipping to reduce costs. So if you order some stuff through the holidays, don't be surprised if they use Ensenda for shipping. The only thing stopping me from making future orders through Amazon is who they have chosen to start shipping packages through. Many are angry at this choice and are trying to get Amazon to go back to UPS/FedEx and I surely hope they do. They will not allow you to choose who your package shops through either :( The thing is, you might luck out like me and get your packages or you might not. Here's the link to the discussion regarding this shipping company on the Official Amazon forums:

As you'll see in the thread..the missing/not showing up packages are happening ALL over the country and I sincerely hope they go back on the decision to use this carrier. If they continue to use them they stand to lose a LOT of customers. I lucked out with my order but would advise others to be extra cautious if their orders ship via Ensenda. I wanted to pass this along since I'd hate for people here to find this out AFTER their orders have shipped. I love Amazon but wish they'd waited till after Christmas to start making this change.

UPS
Only time they hand it off the USPS or FedEx is when they use FSS shipping.

The last game I ordered, Fallout NV, they had 'ONTRAC' deliver my package, it took awhile but got here on time.

Guy hopped out of the plain white van, scurried across the yard and tossed the package onto the porch right at my feet. Didn't even see me standing there even though I was saying "Hi!", "Thank you!" aloud the whole time. Noticed me, kinda jumped back and started apologizing while he ran to the van, then his buddy gunned it.

USPS (FSSS) before Prime, UPS (two day shipping) after Prime.

I've also had a couple of packages delivered to my place by courier (!), even though I expect the regular UPS shipping; the last one was Etrian Odyssey III, which I had preordered. I'm not too far from Manhattan, where that courier service is based, so it's probably just something for big metro areas.

I had Prime but then Amazon started shipping all my stuff USPS instead of UPS, which usually means a trip to the post office to pick stuff up. I decided that if I was going to have to go to the post office I might as well cancel Prime and just start using the free shipping.
