So how hard will it be to get a WII on launch day??

CAGiversary!
When I went to toysrus there were people there 2 days ahead waiting for ps3's. And when I spoke with someone at best buy about the launch dates he said people were there a few days early for the xbox 360 launch.

I remember for the first xbox all I had to do was get to target like at 5:00 am.

So how difficult will it be? I know they're shipping a lot more wii's then ps3's or xbox 360's but if I get up early that morning do you think that will be enough?

Honestly, it's really going to matter on a lot of things

1) Where you live
2) How many places around you are preordering
3) How many systems get shipped to stores around you
4) How motivated are other consumers around you (your competitiors).

Some people will get a Wii or PS3 pretty easily on launch day. The problem is that you always have to face the ebay crowd, that wants to buy them solely to hawk them online.

But, good luck.

Not difficult at all. If they sell out the first day it will exceed all expectations. I don't remember it being hard to get a gamecube first day.

I read an article somewhere that one retailer expected the allotments would last two to three days.

If you absolutely must have it day one 5am target will be fine.

As for the PS3 forget about it. It willbe the holy grail of game systems. If you think the Xbox 360 was tough to get, the PS3 will be virtually unobtainable.

This what I did for the Xbox 360 last year. I reserved it at Blockbuster, and walked up on the day of release and picked it up. Then I drove to Best Buy to look at the people that were going to camp all night for a system most of them wouldn't be able to buy.

Has anyone tried to reserve at blockbuster yet? I reserved at Amazon on the 15th.

Sorry for not posting in the right thread, I was in the gamestop.com/preorder thread and wanted to ask this and didn't even occur to me to moving to the right thread. Sorry, won't happen again.

Thanks for the replys

I remember during the gamecube launch it wasn't hard to get a system, or even a few days after launch, but all the ebay/ps3/preorder hype has got me a little concerned.

Shouldn't be TOO hard...But those preorder turnouts surprised me so maybe there will be a bigger turnout than we thought?

I'm not taking any chances, I am still going to show up at Wal-Mart the day before for the launch...And I will hopefully walk out of there a little after midnight with a brand new Wii. And if that doesn't work out then I can hit Target for when they open.
