I really like it so far. I've been a ds fan since day one and its nice to pick up triple a portable titles and not have to pay 32.99 used. I like the media features but cant seem to get them to work 100% like I want them to. There are some great games for the system. I picked up Wipe out pure and Mega man maverick hunter x with the 25% off at eb/gs coupon. I ended up spending about 20 bucks.I also have Metal Gear acid coming from goozex as well. Also went to best buy and picked up a 2gb duo for $25 not bad for a b/m store price. Overall Im really liking it. I need to get a hold of a Pandora's battery so I can get into the homebrew scene. I have tons of ps1 games but no playstations to play it on. Would love to play some chrono trigger on the go as well. I do have a couple of complaints though. The controls are a bit cramped, so either i try to play with my hands down low on the system and loose all feeling in my thumbs or i get finger smudges on the screen. The video playback is very confusing. I downloaded some family guy specifically formatted to play on the psp and it didnt recognize it was on my memory stick. After some investigation i learn i have to name the file in a special format. The psp then tells me it is unsupported data so i cant watch it. I then download psp video 9 and convert some of my own videos and i get the same problem. So hopefully when I get my custom firmware running i shouldn't have such a big problem. The online store is nice idea but i think they need to make some attempts at cleaning it up a bit it just seems a bit janky to me. SKype is a great idea but paying $50 for the headset and remote is ridicules. Great handheld though im definitely gonna be giving my ds a rest.

I also just bought one yesterday, i am liking it very much so far. The only game I own is I downloaded Crash 2 from the PSP store just to see how easy it was to do. I have also been downloading demos like mad. Medal of Honor Heroes is suprisingly good for a handheld shooter. I am very happy so far.

You can't make the file names too long (There's a character limit but im too lazy to count or to figure out exactly whati ti s), and certain characters will cause the firmware to not even see the file at all. Spaces are allowed but if you ever have trouble with loading anything, often its not the format but just that the filenames are too long.

Trust me, I wasted a whole afternoon on this :)

If in doubt just make a simple less than 8 letter filename if you have problems loading games

Also these are imo the top 5 games on the PSP, I have other flawed recommendations too but I have to do the writeup on my blog later.

Jeanne Darc
Killzone Liberation
Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins
Dracula X Chronicles
Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions (possibly worth skipping if you've already played thru it on PS1 tho)

i recently got a psp as well... about 2 weeks ago.

currently i own Wipeout Pure, Lumines II, and Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow. Syphon Filter is EXCELLENT. I am very impressed with how good of a game it is.

also for videos. i think i know which faq you saw that said you need to have a specific filename. i think that faq was referencing an older firmware. actually if you put the MP4 file in the VIDEO folder in the root, it should work.

my "to buy" list includes Killzone Liberation, Loco Roco, Megaman Powered Up, SOCOM Tactical Strike (it's almost like Full Spectrum Warrior which I absolutely loved), FF Tactics...

and of course of the games coming out soon, Patapon, God of War, Crisis Core, Wipeout Pulse...

it really is a good system and i do think i like it better than the DS now that it has a good library.

See for some reason my memory card doenst even have a video folder should i create one and see if it works.

Glad you're liking the PSP. It took me a little while to really figure out how to get all the media onto my PSP (especially videos) but now I use it more for media uses rather than gaming. Might have to do with the fact that I only own 2 PSP games: Jeanne d'Arc and SW Battlefront Renegate Squadron (came in the bundle).

TBH I have considered playing through Jeanne d'Arc and then selling the PSP in favor of a new iPod Touch. If I use the multimedia aspects of the PSP a lot, the iPod Touch I think is a superior device for this (more storage, higher res but smaller screen, and infinitely better browser/wifi capability). I have looked long and hard and can only come up with a small handful of games I actually want for the PSP, and of that small handful there aren't really any that really scream for me to play them.

Also get Puzzle Quest for the PSP if you haven't already. Even the developer stated that his favorite version was for the PSP. It's a no brainer buy if you like puzzle games at all.
