Still no Wii's anywhere near me.

At least Itrackr FINALLY added Circuit City to the Wii availability... that's one less store to call.

Firefly is even better than I remembered it. I watched every episode that aired on FOX, but it's been long enough that I'm watching them through now and can enjoy them again as basically 'fresh' to me. And I think it has 3 or 4 episodes in the set that never aired. Plan to watch through the series and then catch Serenity (have it taped on a DVD from HBO or Showtime or whichever one it's been on recently.)

Shame that show was canned. It and Fastlane are the two shows nixed after one season that I enjoyed the most. Blade's up there too on that list.
What do you do Lordwow?

I work in marketing and event planning for a University (as in bringing in speakers and such).

My life has turned into an episode of the Office.

I work in the same room as all the tech support people (who knows why), and one of them came up to me "Are you going to first friday?"
"What?"
"First Friday, we have a big party the first friday of every month at 10:00 AM."
"Umm... ok"

So I just went to the First Friday party hosted by (of course) the party planning committee. And I didn't think that people like in The Office really exsisted... but they do.

Bleh, school again Monday.

I love how the HOPE scholarship pays for tuition and fees and a $150 book, but GSU increased the fees this year and now I only get $43 back for my "$150 book."

This concept of a Mac ad confuses and infuriates us!

Oh man, this just gets better and better. I just got back a 5 page travel request that was approved by 4 people in my department for me to go to the basement of the building I work in for a free conference. And they had a mail person deliver it from the office next door through the mail system back to me (which took 2 days to get here).

Tasty. I don't have the resources, though. :(

Well, Georgia Tech received my college transcript. Hopefully I'll know soon if I was accepted or not.

And there is a tornado watch for us.

So, let me get this straight...

4 people in your department had to approve of you going to the basement for a free conference. And they did it many days in advance so they could mail the approval to you in lieu of walking next door?

I missed something here...do you work for a University run by the government?

Red tape at it's finest.

No, it's a private university. However, US News and Review or whatever it's called, which ranks colleges, consistantly ranks us in the top 10 of "Long Lines and Red Tape." I go through it all the time as a student, but even more now that I work for them too.

Haha, what an honor.

I understand a certain amount of ass-covering red tape. I just hate it when it gets to a ridiculous point and efficiency drops way down because people are busy jumping through hoops rather than being able to do their jobs.

Nice, just took down #3 on the blacklist... I also managed to somehow evade a pursuit and get a 1,142,00 bounty, I think I took out all of Cross's cars at once. This goes a LOOONG way towards making the game easier :D

Two more guys to go and this game is toast. I also got Ronnie's car, take that you punk bitch!

You guys are already back in classes?

We used to start classes here on Jan 3rd every year, but people bitched so much they start on the second Monday of the month now.

As far as I can remember, all the grade schools here go back the first week of the new year, some colleges the 2nd and some the 3rd week. I really think they should just pick one.

One of the professors just gave me copies of two newspaper articles detailing the last public execution in the United States, in which my grandfather was the defense attorney.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainey_Bethea

I had my history on it wrong (I'd heard very little about it), and for years thought he was the prosecutor. That's a burden lost.

Ya, but now he lost.

While waiting for UPS to update their site with the latest tracking information, I noticed Comedy Central was airing the movie Rolling Kansas.

During my service industry days, I ran the local Albertsons' video rental department. It was easy gig and we'd usually get some pretty good freebies. Typically, the operation would work as follows: Our distributor (B&M) would arrive monday morning to do an inventory. Our representative would clear up everything in our system (late fees, lost movies, etc.). She would then give us our C titles for the upcoming week.

The arrival of new releases would come in two shipments. The major releases would arrive Wednesday morning and it was my duty to have them on the shelf by next Tuesday. Our C-list titles were always hand delivered by the B&M representative on Monday.

Returning to the story, the representative gives us the upcoming release list to post on the wall for customers. Rolling Kansas is among the list. Its scheduled date arrives, but the movie does not. Not unheard of since these are often not the movies you're dying to watch. A couple of weeks later, the representative arrives with Rolling Kansas in hand. She then hands me a memo from the Albertsons' HQ in Boise. It reads as follows:

"Due to the numerous drug references and explicit movie cover, Rolling Kansas will not be available for rent. We promote a family atmosphere and feel this does not live up to our standard. Please pull all copies and return them to your video representative"

That is right. Albertsons' HQ has a problem with a smiling water tower smoking a doobie.

A couple of weeks passes then a customer decides to ask me about the entire list of releases. I never watched much of the C-list movies, but I could generally pull one fact out of my ass about them. He gets to Rolling Kansas and I explain that it was pulled because it did not meet our standards for family viewing.

His eyes light up (pun not so much intended). He then shakes my hand and tells me how wonderful Albertsons is as a company for protecting our youth. At this point, I didn't have the heart to tell him that not too many kids were going to be influenced by a smoking water tower.

A couple of weeks goes by and I'm heading home for the day. I check in on my employees to overhear a familar conversation. It was the same customer giving an identical speech to my afternoon clerk. It was word for word the same thing he told me.

Now I finally see why hoarding, in any instance, is a pain in the ass. I'll admit I've bought stuff to resell, but 9 times out of 10 I give CAG a chance on what I get and I don't ever completely clean out a store and brag about it.

On Slickdeals, there are people in Tampa Bay looking for Wii's who do NOTHING but call every store every day, drive to all of these stores to RE-CONFIRM they don't have Wii's, and if they do, they buy them all, or at least 3 - 4.

I think I'm going to give up... I think i've really met my match.

That's fucked up. Assholes.

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll be able to find one for yourself in a couple months without worrying about this hoarding business.

Yeah. They got this new thing called time zones.

Well, it's a late Christmas present, and I already ordered the games since I thought it wouldn't be near this hard to find one since Christmas was over.

It seems like I'm a day behind because I don't check fucking Wal-Mart every single second of the day... there are people that have the schedules of these stores memorized and every week they go pick up a few more Wii's.
Yeah. They got this new thing called time zones.
Meaning you were farther behind me, which means it was even earlier for you, which makes it even sadder.

... It was a little after noon an hour and forty minutes ago.

Alright fellows. I seem to have a pretty serious problem as far as the internet is concerned. Whenever I connect to anything for a certain length of time, it seems as though my connection is cut off half way through doing... whatever is it I'm trying to do. For example:
I'm downloading a large file via "normal" downloading (not bittorrent or using an accelerator). A couple minutes into the file (this usually means about 70mbs or so) it just stops and never get any further.

Another example is playing games online. If I play games on a company's server such as on Guild Wars etc., I'm usually ok. However, if I play using P2P connections ala Titan Quest etc. I will get dropped from the game at a set time. Roughly every 15 minutes or so.

This is pretty annoying and makes downloads larger than a few mb and online gaming a hassle. This only seems to happen on the two computers that I own which happen to use wireless connections at my home. However, at college, I use their network and plug straight in via ethernet. The same thing happens.

Does anyone have any idea what could be up? Is it just bad luck with networks, bad device drivers, or something much more sinister....

I have no idea where this is going anymore.

HAH! I just received 1000$ from the state of California from when I was in the 9th grade and scored well on their STARS test. Lucky day today :) I have to spend it on school, but thats fine cuz now I can just use 1000 of my own dollars instead of spending that.

Roufuss, I just checked the iTrackr for my area and it said there were Wii's instock at a local EB, just called and they said no. I'll keep an eye out for one. Funny, says 8/10 retailers have PS3!!

I think it's 10 out of 13 here.

Itrackr is really behind on EB / GS shipments, supposedly. My friend who is friends with an EB manager, supposed according to Itrackr his EB DID get in Wii's today... the manager told my friend he would hold him one (which would go to me when he got it).

So what's the problem?

My friend is out of town in South Carolina until whenever.. I think Sunday. So will this EB manager (who is a good friend of my friend supposedly) stay true to his word?

I hope they dont gimp the PC version of Bioshock like they did for Oblivion, due to the simultaneous 360 development. I trusted Besthesda to know better, I can only hope Irrational has it together better.

There is no shame in prosecuting or defending.

Roufuss- If you would like, I will keep my eyes open for Wiis. I'm friends with the folks at Target and the head of electronics there told me they're expecting a shipment similar to launch day shipment (69 of them on launch day) sometime soon. If I find one, I will let you know. I'd be happy to pick it up if you're willing to cover the shipping.
