How much?

Drop a fair enough amount on me and I can drop you a payment tonight... I just need to hear back from a friend who works in the 30 miles away city if he swung by EB and if they had it.

If not, I'd definitely throw you a payment, and I can cancel this shitty lan adapter thing that's on backorder at outpost.

Are you able to sell VC games on eBay? Asking because I'm setting up a few listings in Turbo Lister for NES games and a search for Excitebike yielded 'Excitebike (Virtual Console)' for the Wii platform. I doubt you can resell the downloads, so it seems really weird that eBay has them in the set of search results.

I thought they were system specific... so you could GET them and back them up but not bring them to a friend's wii and play. Tanuki? You seem to know the deal with most things Wii. Care to advise our dear Wubb?

No, they're stuck on the original console (DRM and all that stuff) they're purchased with.

Anybody know of any good, free programs for splitting mp3s? I'd like to listen to the 1up Yours podcast on the plane, but I've only got two 32 MB memory sticks duo (the podcast is about 35 MBs total).

PM sent, Roufuss.

So what happens when I run out of space on my Wii and need to DL the VC game and put it on an SD card to access game saves... do I play it from the SD card or do I have to switch shit around to put it back on the Wii?

And what exactly keeps me from taking the SD card to a friend's Wii?

(This mysterious DRM acronym that I don't understand probably answers all this... too bad I don't know what it means :p)

ok I'm starting a little topic here on the OTT for I think this question doesn't need it's own thread. Here's the question:

What do you do when your girlfriend invites herself to an outing she wasn't intended to go to?

My gf's brother invited me to go paintballing. He said it was supposed to be a "guys night out" or what have you. I thought it would be pretty cool. But then my gf gets the news, and then she asks me, "so when are WE going?"

Either she was invited and I didn't know, or maybe she thinks she's part of the guys since she does hang out with her brother's friends alot. I guess her brother doesn't mind, but I could tell in his voice that the day was going to be a bit dampered since a female will be in a presence, much more his sister. Advice?

Figured as much. Just caught me off guard to see it in the pre-fill search results on eBay. More junk results to sift through. Awesome.

I really like the idea of having a physical disc, cartridge, or whatever that I own and can resell when I finish. I know the big talk is that next gen will feature downloadable games (possibly exclusively) which I would hate. The average consumer might like the convenience I guess.

musicnoteless - I'd probably just flat out say something like "Honey, I think your brother wanted this to be just guys, do you mind if you sat this one out? If you really want to go though I'm sure it would be great." Of course that all depends on just how excited she is about going paintballing.

But your 1st mistake was not telling her about the outing first by saying something like "Hey, your brother just invited me to a big GUY'S DAY OUT to go paintballing! I think it's great that he's including me in stuff as his friend and not just as your other half!"

When you run out of space, you can either back-up VC games on an SD card or just delete them from the Wii itself and download them later whenever you'd want to play them (it's free to redownload if I recall correctly).

DRM stands for Digital Rights Management, I believe. Basically, it determines what you can do with the file (whether it's a VC games or even just songs from iTunes) in terms of using it as you please or being restricted to a certain console/PC that downloads the file. So basically, the VC games is attached to your Wii, so you can't simply just back it up and play it on other Wiis.

As for the eBay listing, it's probably an SD card with the VC game on it that the unfortunate recipient will be unable to play. It's most likely a scam either way.

Do the downloaded VC games have to be verified with a central server at a certain interval or they deactivate? If not I'd imagine it will be cracked before long.

Hahaha, you're setting him up. :applause:

Do NOT ever ask her to "sit this one out". They never understand that...and it will only end up in extreme amounts of pain for you.

Take her along, and chalk this one up to a learning experience. Follow wubb's second piece of advice the next time.

I would tell her, after confirmation from her brother that she was not invited, that it's supposed to be a guy's night out and that you will treat her to a night of her choosing within a week or so, whether it's paintballing, a movie, dinner, whatever.

Or maybe I'm just fictionalizing something that a girl would never go for. Ideally she'll accept, but I think even I would be pissed about it and I'm the one giving the advice.

I saw it in the search results in Turbo Lister when you are doing a "List multiple items using prefill information" (or something like that) you pop in the titles of all of the games/dvds/whatever you have to put up and it creates listings with the prefill sections set for you.

So basically eBay has things in those results that can never actually be sold on their site. Brilliant.

Yeah, you might be right. Gut call by musicnoteless.

And of course if you do ask her not to come and it turns out there are any other females at this thing and she finds out about it... May God have mercy on your soul.
Do the downloaded VC games have to be verified with a central server at a certain interval or they deactivate? If not I'd imagine it will be cracked before long.
I don't think there's any need to be online after the initial purchase & download for it to verify. The VC game will know what console it can only be played on and either doesn't show up or won't play when it's transferred to another console.

The game probably has some sort of wii serial written into the download when you buy (ie the wii it was purchased on) and it probably just checks that serial against the current wii before starting up.

Interesting. I'd like to see the listing that tries to convey that this would actually work and not be a scam.

I'm about to sell my GCN nintendo games on ebay. I was just going to drop all of the games into one lot. But what do you guys think?
Here's the list everything complete and good-mint condition.

Animal Crossing
Bomberman Jetters
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
Freedom Fighters
Gun
James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Luigi's Mansion
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Metroid Prime
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Resident Evil
Resident Evil 4 Collector's Tin
Resident Evil Zero
Second Sight
The Sims Bustin' Out
Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut
Sonic Mega Collection
Super Mario Sunshine
Wario World
X-Men Legends

Then I was going to list my GC separate with a game, controller, and av cables.

Thoughts?

I DLed SMB, Bomberman '93 and Gunstar Heroes when I was at a friend's place and took my Wii- had it home for a week+ with no internet activity and they work. So, yeah, no internet usage required after DL.

However I suppose this isn't to say it *CAN* use the internet to check itself every now and then.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Luigi's Mansion
Metroid Prime
Super Mario Sunshine
I think I'm interested in these if the price is right ;]

Have her brother play the asshole and tell her she's not invited. She'll be pissed, but not at you. Problem solved.

EDIT: You can even offer to stay behind with her, but she will hopefully tell you just to go without her because it's not your fault. Or she'll want to stay in and have some fun together. Either way, you win. ;)

These used to be kind of rare. Not sure what they're going for these days.

Considering that the wii identifier (friend code? serial? whatever...) is probably embedded in the "rom" when it's d/l, you wouldn't need an internet connection. Find a friend with a wii and try to swap games, in all theory, it doesn't work.

This is also a valid option, as long as you're tight with her brother and he won't see you out to her.

I need to complain to Home Depot Corporate about the shitty customer service I received the other day. One fucker answered his cell phone and talked on it while trying to help me. I stood there for a minute or so just waiting for him to tell me "Sorry we no longer carry it, go to another store"

Another thing, if she does end up not going, you'd better make damn sure it's okay for you to go. Even if she says she's okay with it, be very very careful. Hopefully she's not a psycho and this is an unnecessary warning, but you can never be too sure.

it's possible he'll come out on top. depends on what he promises to take her to do later that week and/or if the brother tells her to fuck off. the IDEAL situation would be the brother telling her to fuck off, then he (DoK) would tell her that he knew she was really looking forward to going and that he'd take her out later that week cuz he knew she was let down.

When you have younger kids working jobs they're like that sometime. From the sound of it he was a little more disrespectful then normal which means he's probably on his way out. But come on you the DIY CAG find those items in the store by Doing it yourself. :D ;)

I honestly think the only way I'll ever watch all these TV-on-DVD seasons is if I bust out the treadmill and watch them on my little DVD player while I run.

Which pretty much kills two birds with one stone, so hey, why not?

i agree. my second job is retail on the weekends and the teenagers have no concept as to what is/isn't appropriate while working. from eating messy, smelly foods behind the register (it's a high-end winter sport shop) to talking on cell phones to having friends "visit" them. One fatass constantly ate doritos or cheetos at the register and that particular year, white ski jackets were the hot women's item. needless to say, the store owner had to have several jackets dry cleaned or returned to the manufacturer for nasty cheesy schmears.

Have you checked EB / GS, or do you not want to pay that much?

Every single store in my area has a copy for $29.99 used... seriously. That's like 15 stores that have copies.

If you really want one I'll go get it for you.
I appreciate that.

No prob man. I hooked up Hex with a spare xbox live puck, a two month Live trial card and a copy of Phanton Dust (was 3.50 at TRU when I got it last Fri, so I got him another copy). Total cost to me was almost 6 bucks, thats including shipping. I decided to hook him up with that because he doesn't have live and such. Seeing as it was that low of an amount, I'm not charging him a thing.

But if I can find C: DoS for cheap, I'll let ya have it for probably a few bucks over what I paid plus shipping (which should be dirt cheap anyhow). Hope that sounds reasonable. Though, Its gonna be at least a week before I get any money for anything. I'll check a Kmart near where I used to live sometime in the comming week

$30 is too much for used.

I want new for that price. Considering I could've had it for $35 new at BB one day but I felt it was too rich for my blood knowing it was $10 at TRU or Kmart, I couldn't pull the trigger. When nobody could come up with one to trade or one to sell me, I went back for it and it was gone.

I'd be willing to go to $35 for new shipped, if need be, but I'd really rather have new for $20 (or less) shipped. It's the CAG in me.

Oh gotcha.

I never once saw Dawn of Sorrow at any of the 10 K-Mart's or 4 TRU's I visited =/

I thought you meant you were trolling Ebay because the prices shot way up again.

Well, I would have searched what I wanted on my own when this guy, who was not a teenager but maybe a manager as he seemed to know where everything was in the store, asked me if I needed help. I asked where the laminate was and made it clear I was looking for rolls of laminate to redo counter tops and stuff, not flooring. He tells us where and we walk (it was suppose to be at the other end of the store). Ok, no problem, but the stuff wasn't there. My friend and I walk around trying to find somebody else to help, nobody knew. I started to get pissed as It was starting to get dark and the 120 gallon fish tank was still outside (we were cleaning it). Got near the register and saw the same manager guy and he asked if I found it, I said no, so he told me to follow him to the location, about halfway to the designated area his phone rings and he answers it. He's still talking and we ended up the same area where the item should be, he pauses looks around, in a low voice says "it was here the other day" and looks around some more. Starts walking to another aisle and stops, looks around again, pauses, all while talking on his cell phone or listening to the person on the other end, finally tells the person on the phone to hold on and tells me that they apparently no longer carry the laminate and to try another store.

Once I get into a place of my own. The spare bedroom will be used for working out. Instead of sitting and watching movies why not work out to a movie 5 nights a week.

I mean, why not, I guess.

I should be using that thing anyway, so I can knock out some of my DVDs at the same time.

Well it didn't sound like he was being a total ass. He "tried" somewhat. Did you ever find it?
He could have checked to see if it was in the computer I assume.
