CAGiversary!
...and, while I found it really entertaining, I wasn't sure whether I was supposed to be amused or disturbed. The death/torture scenes make it almost seem like Eli Roth was going for a bit of both. Many of the scenes just felt very very very over the top and really campy, yet had some really good splatter effects. I also felt the tone of the first movie was much darker, more violent, and had an overall grittier feel.
I was more disturbed by the opening montage where the belongings (passports, IDs, credit cards, etc.) of the hunted were being burned that most of the violent sequences.
I chuckled as Lorna was slashed to ribbons, as the one guy was being eaten alive, as the gang of kids played kickball with Axelle's head (the music was hilarious), and as Stewart has his junk clipped off. I even laughed when Todd had his "oh shit!" moment and realized what he was doing.
I liked this movie a lot though.
Does this make me a psycho?
