This just further proves that Obama was right all along, that we need to ban industries that exploit our environment. I think the recent oil spill is God's blessing to help Obama fulfill his destiny in saving our world.

Can't find the story I read recently, but I did find this: Earthquake Facts and Statistics (US Geological Survey)

Basically, there haven't been any more earthquakes globally than normal. The difference we're seeing this year, however, is that more are hitting populated areas rather than just the middle of the ocean.
 
In my Geography class we were working with some GIS software near the end of the class. Were were importing data about the location and frequency of earthquakes. There are many, many earthquakes every year that we never even hear about because they happen in unpopulated or very low population areas. We only hear about the earthquakes that hit populated areas, if there are more of those it will seem like more quakes are occurring.

It's pretty wild to see earthquakes mapped out in software, when you overlay the fault lines you see that most quakes occur on or near the fault lines, only a few deviate from this.
