Since they removed the guarantee of including Case and Instructions with current gen used games, I'll be skipping them for the remainder of eternity. Is there a single good location to pick up used games to replace them. I'm familiar with Amazon marketplace, ebay etc., but I liked the convenience of a single company with local B&M's backing them up. Suggestions welcomed. Please bear in mind, I am in Texas in the US. Thanks in advance.

Nationally? Not that I can think of. Regionally...maybe, but it'd be really hit or miss.

None of the big chains guarantee the packaging and manuals anymore, and there's never been any guarantee that smaller stores would. I think it's become a thing of the past at this point.

I get the feeling you mean an online site right (as you could always check if things are complete in any store). I would reccomend estarland.com & wherehouse.com though neither are as good as the old EBgames.com IMO.

That tends to be more of feedback for CAG itself, not for potential deals, that goes in the deal discussion forum a little more than it does here.

If you are in or around Ohio, then look for a CD/Game Exchange store. They usually have used games with cases and manuals. No crappy sticker on the case either.
The prices were a bit high last time I went in there, but they have probably dropped by now for XBOX games.

You also can get games in great condition with cases and manuals on Ebay for cheap.

I second estarland.com and wherehouse.com. Wherehouse usually has some decent used game prices and they always come complete and 90% of the time they are practically brand new. I don't have as much experience with estarland yet, but that will be changing with EB sucking.

Just thought I'd throw in that they have CD/Game Exchange stores in Oregon too (several in the Portland area and one in Eugene). Prices are pretty decent, although Gamecube and GBA stuff tends to be on the high side (although I did score a complete FF IV Advance for $18 at one a week ago, though :D ). Btw, they put stickers on the bottom of the spine of the game case (at least around here), but they're almost as easy to peel off as GameStop's.

There was never a guarentee of having those in there anyways.

FYI since our store was converted everytime we get trades we take out the instructions and keep it with the game so asshats wont steal them in the store so the customers have a better chance of getting the book with the game

Damn I didn't know they got rid of that gaurantee until this thread. Crap. Seems like it's wide open for a new player to come in and do things right. Resale value of a disc only game is like half of a complete version. Don't think I'll be ordering anything used from them again either. Damn.

O RLY?

All their current gen used stuff would say right on the item page. 'Gauranteed to include case and instructions.' Now it says 'May not...' B&M maybe not, but the website gauranteed it.

Yeah, I think he was referring to B&M explicitly. It always annoyed me when I wanted to pick up Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin cheap and every copy in EB was missing a manual.

I don't understand why used game stores even take in games without their cases/manuals. When i worked at gamecrazy, i used to refuse people all the time bringing in their shitty disc only games.

At least I would charge them for a "disc buffing" and reduce the trade in value to discourage it. I hate seeing tons of "generic" lithos at game stores, and I would never buy a used game for $3 off retail that was disc only. Rediculous.
I'm done with buying from EB/GS online completely. No stacking coupons. No books/inserts. No thanks.
I feel the same. At least the store/inventory locator feature is there. That's really the only use I have for EB/GS online.

Gamecrazy seems to be the best alternative to the old EB. They generally have better prices than GS and still carry "classic" games. Unfortunately you can't shop with them online, but there is a store locator on their website.

This makes me crazy! With the sale this week I passed by games l really wanted like ZOE: 2nd Runner, and PTO V, cos none of the copies I found had a damn manual.

I had to 'make' a complete copy of Cold Fear by taking one box without a manual, and another generic case with the manual stuck in the front as the 'cover' and combining them into one complete game.

I saw a mom in my EB the other day ask if they had some game her son wanted. They had a used copy disc only amd asked if that was okay. The mom actually had the forethought to call her son first and ask if that was okay! I dunno what the resolution was, but even that mom knew that a disc only game wasnt exactly the greatest thing in the world to have.

Wow, that's a first for me. Everytime I've ever seen a mom goin the store they either ask for a brand new copy (and then get sold the gutted copy cause it's "the last one") or if there's no new one, they just take the used one that's disc only cause the worker can't find the case. I see it over and over again.

If they still kept the coupon stacking I would probably still order from them.. and just return it to bm store if it's not complete. But now no coupon = not worth it at all to buy online.

Yeah I was surprised at that, but happy too. At least the mom had an inkling ya know?

gutted games sold as 'new' make baby Jesus cry... and me too cos I saw HUNDREDS of them in the last few days at every EB and GS I went to.
