So whadda ya think? New DS at E3?

I'd say no,
I would like them to say if there planning on it or not, since I have an old original DS, im thinking of getting the Lite though

Im thinking that they would take out the GBA slot, which would make it smaller. But then again, how would we use the Rumble Pack and other accessories . :drool:
 
Too early for a Hardware revision, IMO. I think this E3 will be all about games. Nintendo's gotten burned in the past by focusing too much on Hardware (N64, I'm looking at you, hyped for nearly 3 years before release). They've learned since then....
 
As far as the next DS, yes I think it'd happen. I wouldn't be too surprised.

And as far as how you could do the Rumble Pak, etc. with a new DS: Nintendo has YET to provide an official DS Lite-optimised Rumble Pak, so my guess is that they're working on a way to include this, along with a different type of Wi-Fi (maybe even a Wi-Fi connection dongle for both PC & Mac that works on campus Ethernet networks).

One nice thing about hardware revision is addition of WPA. Since Wi-Fi governing body doesn't approve of WEP only devices anymore.

There is a "Lite" version of the Rumble pak available in Japan. NOA just hasn't brought it over here, likely because there would be no demand for it.

Same. Really, really want a lite, but I don't want to get one only to find out a new one is coming out. My touch screen looks soooo dark after borrowing my friends lite for a shot time.

Taking out the GBA slot would kill Guitar Hero. Given that we've got at least one high profile, new game that's selling well and needs the GBA slot to function at all, I don't think the GBA slot is dead yet.

The Rumble Pak wasn't incorporated in that many games. You can still find it on clearance for $5 every now and then. I liked the rumble feature and am always delighted when I find a game uses it, but I don't see why Nintendo couldn't have it built in to the next handheld with an option to simply turn it off if the player doesn't prefer it.

I ordered the Lite Rumble Pak off eBay. A bootleg sort of version, I expect, as it was pink to match my pink DS Lite. I really like it. It's quieter than the original, not to mention it's flush in my system.

I was highly surprised by Guitar Hero using the Advance slot, as it seemed Nintendo was moving away from plug-in peripherals. Honestly, I can see GH: On Tour being the last Advance slot option. What with the highly mixed reviews, I doubt the game is doing as well as expected. While I would like to play it at some point, the $50 price tag and the fact that people are turning around and reselling it after owning it a day is deterring me.
 
There is nothing stopping you from buying a DS Lite now and returning it if a new DS comes out. I bought my first DS two weeks ago. You can bet I will be returning it if something new comes out that I am interested in.
 
Literally the only thing keeping me from upgrading to a Lite is the fact that I'm crazy anal and I don't want the GBA games to stick out the bottom. If there's a new DS that solves that problem (without removing the GBA slot altogether), I'll definitely upgrade. The gf can have my current Phat, and everyone's happy.

Every major store in North America.

Are you trying to tell me that you shop at stores which don't allow hardware returns within 30 days of purchase?
