So im going to be arriving at Denver if all goes well next tuesday evening (11pm) for 1-2 days. Any cag's that live in denver? Anything interesting to check out? I dont know anyone out there.

Edit..

thanks everyone for all the denver input....new destination

The Red Rock Ampitheater is pretty neat. Some good concerts there too. You might check and see if anyone is playing while you're there.

yea i checked ticketmaster but i didnt see anything too exciting. What is in the general area of denver? Hows the weather around now? I was hoping to check out mountains.

I also may look around on myspace for some denver ladies lol ;)

I know Colorado has a ton of fantastic microbreweries (Great Divide and Avery come to mind, and also Breckenridge); they are (I'm told) all located in the same area, so you can spend your whole day touring brewpubs, sampling fresh beer, and getting smashed on great beer for little to no money.

Lol...dont know if i want to spend my day trying out beer ...If i stay for the weekend though i could have attended the ecw house show on oct 1.

Realistically i arrive at 11 pm on a tuesday.. already late as balls... after i check in to airport etc and get car i dont want to just go to sleep. i hope theirs like bars/clubs nearby.... if not ill just drive around and gaze. i would have to work the following morning, i leave the 28th at 2:30pm. Not too much time to have fun :(

First thing I thought of when I saw the title to the thread was "Shit Eater" some of you may get the movie reference here.

But on a serious note I know nothing about Denver

Here is the deal.

The airport is about 30 min from Downtown and not much stuff in between (mainly neighborhoods and out of the way stuff). The area myke is referring to is called "Lodo". If you can make your way down there you should find some cool places (ooh even the Real World house). The baseball stadium is down there.
. Otherwise Red Rocks is open as a park even when no one is playing and is worth a visit. You should be able to get a visit in (it is about 20-30 minutes from downtown).

If you are staying downtown, just hanging out down there could be fun. The new Art Museum in Civic Center park is opening soon. It is IMO, a damned cool oragami looking piece of architecture. It would be cool to see. 16th Street mall is a pedestrian mall that most people congregate on- retail, restaurants, people. Shuttles run up and down the length of the street and are free.

Where are you staying?

good question.. i guess i should stay in downtown.. I was looking at a few hotels and they both mentioned 16th street park and coors field

so the airport is in the middle of nowhere?

DenCO is tight. I went there last summer and chilled with my boy from TGN. I highly recommend the Six Flags there. It was awesome. I dont think youll want to, but Colorado Springs was awesome. I think it's a 2 hr drive though.
Cherry Creek Mall is in Denver. Pretty nice. A lot of good food. Megaplex movie theater in downtown. Youll find something to do. :) I'm jealous.

yea people have told me about springs but i simply dont think ill have enough time.. i really have like only one afternoon to check places out. its like i dont even want to sleep..

hows the weather round now? too bad no snow...how far are the rockys? or any mountains for that matter

Denver sucks unless you can get to Red Rox. If it hasn't been mentioned already (tl;dr) head to the 16th street mall. Lots of neat shit there, as well as the Tabor Center. Uhm... You could check out DIA, I guess. Denver pretty much sucks with regard to things to do at night. I never have any real compulsion to head down there, myself. Restaurants you might want to visit: Brown Palace (seriously! It's upscale), Deep Rock, Cheesecake Factory, Old Spaghetti Factory. But yeah, 16th street mall is where it's at. They're closing it to provide condos. Oh boy, housing next to a major sports arena (the Pepsi Center).
yea people have told me about springs but i simply dont think ill have enough time.. i really have like only one afternoon to check places out. its like i dont even want to sleep..

Rockies are pretty close, depending on where you want to go in the rockies. It may be a scoche early but it's always nice to watch the leaves on the aspens change. If you're into hippies you should take a drive up to Boulder and visit the Pearl Street Mall. There's all kinds of street performers and other cool things if the day is nice. Flatirons mall is huge but it's kind of a waste of an afternoon. Park Meadows mall is close to denver as well but in the other direction. It it pretty damn fun to just walk around LoDo all day and see the sights.

I'd much rather do Boulder than Denver. Forget the hippies, and it's much, much prettier and more stuff to do.

If you're dead, Warren Zevon has some suggestions.

If you aren't dead and unaccustomed to the altitude, wheezing is quite popular.

I think you'll spend the two days trying to breathe. I would recommend not doing anything that requires a lot of physical activity. Since your not used to the thin air.

yea i was thinking about that as well.. dont know what to expect.

Boulder is crowded and pretentious. However the location is beautiful. It is pretty cool to check out but it is a college town. There is less to do at night (outside of parties) than Denver.

Pretentious is fuckin' right. Basically anyone who's thinking about voting Republican oughta stay away from there. Of course, you could always get away from the yuppies and their pseudo-intellectual crap and go to Shataqua, love that place.

I'm sure you'd know more about the party scene in Denver better than I would, anyway. Driving 60 miles to hit up some clubs isn't generally my idea of fun. But anyway, after thinking about it, I vote that the OP should hit up Deep Rock for dinner above anything else. It's a lively place and the Jambalaya owns.

I haven't been in a couple of years, but being in Denver was one of the coolest times of my life. I remember seeing this Batman show at six flags that was based off of the Batman Forever movie. Then I saw I-robot during the opening weekend and the entire auditorium was sold out (which is amazing considering how huge it is!).

Yeah. We stayed at the Brown Palace when we were in DenCO. Pretty much the nicest hotel i've ever stayed at besides the Ritz Carlton in Montreal. Gorgeous hotel. Food was insanely expensive though.

Red Rocks, Six Flags, 16th St. Mall, and Coors Field. Thats all you need.

But if you must have more, the zoo and Coors Brewery are good too.

Thanks for the suggestions guys..

I will be arriving late tuesday night? is there still stuff open late in denver on a tuesday? guess im just used to miami. Also is the airport in the middle of nowhere? how far would you say its from downtown or whatever? Nice and somewhat cheap recommendation for hotel?

I guess ill make sure to check out coors and maybe a few surroundings.

Shouldn't be too hard to get from DIA to where you need to go. One rather cheap place that I like to stay is at The Renaissance, a fairly upscale, hueg hotel near the old Stapleton airport. It's near the intersection of Quebec St and I-70, bit concrete Sort of R shaped place. Seriously, a big R. http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/DENSA For info/maps. As for stuff to do, I still stick by heading down I-70 to downtown and hit up 16th street and Deep Rock restaurant.

Ok cool. ill make a note of that. I just found out that my trip may be postponed for a week or so.. more time to plan shit out..lets see what happens

If you're down in Denver, about 14th and Larimer, there is a great Bison Burger restaurant called Ted's Montana Grill. Excellent stuff there.

cool thanks again. i hate getting ahead of myself. Since my trip has been delayed... my question is around what time does it snow?

i thought it would be a week delay but may be up to a month

We had some amazing Bison Burgers in a gift shop or something. I think it was in CSprings. I never heard of Teds Montana Grill. I thought, damn we missed a great looking restaurant in DenCO. Didnt realize we have one in Philly too! w0000t :)
Thanks bro.
...lol, there really is no "time" that it snows. Colorado weather is wayyyyyy unpredictable.
Word. We have this shitty phrase that only yuppies use but is somewhat pertinent around here- "If'n you're sick of the weather in Colorado, wait ten minutes, it'll change." Gaaaay but true.

fukk man.. so your winters arent like a for sure snow season? i figured we are so close to october and winter that it would start soon..
fukk man.. so your winters arent like a for sure snow season? i figured we are so close to october and winter that it would start soon..
It really depends. It's just been chilly and overcast. Well, now it's thundering. But no snow yet. If snow makes you wet, I'd advise visiting one of the high mountain towns- Steamboat, Keystone, Breckenridge.

Supposedly 4"-12" above 9000ft and upwards of a foot above 11,000 ft.

Tiphireth- I've come to the conclusion that nearly everyone in every states uses that phrase.
Tiphireth- I've come to the conclusion that nearly everyone in every states uses that phrase.
Srsly? I've only heard Coloradoans say it.
so this is finally happening.. just found out "today" that im flying out tommorrow to denver.. hows the weather?
Kinda blah. Cold compared to Miami. Doesnt get good til thurs.

We should make a cag locations wiki or something. I have visited four different cities in the last month due to all the travel in my new job and it clutters the site to make a thread everytime.
so shitty weather? wonderful
I can't see the moon, so I imagine it's still cloudy. 11°, so it's been cold at night.
Wow, it just piled up around 6-ish.
