Because this forum is filled with Wii60 nerds/geeks who have no lives and never get out much.
In all honesty, I don't know. I think Sony is the most important to video games. If there was never a PlayStation again, I'd quit gaming NOW (the only other consoles I liked as much as my PlayStation stuff was the SNES and Dreamcast, but Sega no longer makes consoles and Nintendo just isn't what they use to be. MS sucks at Japan and hardware, while I just don't like the direction Nintendo is going, since I want HD graphics and tons of media features).
PS1 is the greatest console I ever owned. The hardware was quality and never gave me problems. It started the best controller design that I found the most comfortable. It's also the console that got me into many more genres, instead of sticking to just platformers and such.
PS2 was initially disappointing, but after 7 months, it started to become pretty good. I love the PS2 because it has a really long life cycle, good quality hardware that doesn't break (my PS2 is old and has never frozen or given me any trouble).
PSP is definitely the best handheld I ever owned. The launch lineup was the best since the Dreamcast (maybe better). Has a pretty good selection of games that mix my favorite ports, remakes to games I love, brand new original games, along with sequels to games I love. Plus, makes an awesome MP3 player and gives me an internet browser on the go. The hardware is very quality, since I dropped my PSP once and still works great. Never had a single issue.
PS3 is definitely the ultimate PlayStation. I can finally ditch all my 16 PS1/PS2 memory cards and store everything on my HDD (and even transfer them to my PC). It plays all my favorite PS1/PS2 games upscaled, along with some good PS3 games (there's not many yet, but it's getting there). Also, it's not just a gaming machine, best DVD player I own, gives me a blu-ray player, internet browser is nice so I can stream anime off the net (I can lay down a relax instead of sitting at my PC starring at my monitor), best music player I have (IMO, my PS3 sound quality even beats my Sony Vaio PC. The hardware is definitely quality. I never expected to be impressed with the PS3 due to what I heard, but I absolutely love it and it's definitely my favorite device ever.
Lol, anyone here who has me as a PSN buddy, can say my message says "Loves his Sony stuff".
Sony makes quality hardware that doesn't break (I never had a single problem with ANY PlayStation). That's just part of the reason I love them.
