SOCOM Confritation

o yea... i remember someone talking about online room size. the SOCOM series has had 32 players in one room for a while. they started this in SOCOM 3 on the PS2

Those images are quite old I believe, and there hasn't been a single update since over the summer. Slant Six games was working on finishing Socom: Tactical Strike first (which they did), and now they are working on Confrontation (according to the PS Blog). They cannot reveal any new info until SCEA releases some press release. Since the game doesn't look to be Q1, there might be many improvements/changes.

You know... like when you confront someone? Nevermind.
I hope Slant Six doesn't ruin the franchise. They need to bring new things to the game while still keeping the same basic formula and feel.

This game would be a reason for me to buy a PS3 if they can get a decent online. I loved Socom 2 and at first Socom 3 until the glitching hit so heavy. With the lack of support from Sony on banning those people, I became an Xbox Live guy. Less lag and the glitches are not nearly as bad as what I dealt with on PS2. One can only hope, but knowing Sony it wont matter to them too much.
One note to everyone who has asked, there will be no vehicles in SOCOM Confrontation. We are focusing all of our effort and getting the best urban and on foot experience possible.
Slant Six Games is mostly made up of some former Sony Bend people, so they aren't too bad (Socom Tactical Strike turned out all right from what I gather and played the demo).

I heard about how laggy the Socom II servers were, but if the Socom: Confrontation server is setup like Resistance (on a dedicated server), lag should be minimal.

There was a blog entry on the game too (which is where the quote comes from).

In case anyone is curious, David Seymour at Slant Six Games had this to say about Socom Confrontation:
I can’t comment on Confrontation other than to say that the development is going well, the team is doing great work, and we are very excited by the amount of attention and fan feedback that the game is getting. Our production team at Sony handles all of the releases and announcements, so until they share some new info, it’s heads-down headphones-on development. The best place to give us suggestions and feedback is the Confrontation forum:
