Nice, thanks for the update, I was actually thinking about this game today and voila, update!

I thought I remembered reading a release date of around Winter 08' a long time ago, so hopefully that still stays true!

We haven't heard from Soldner-X: Himmelsstürmer since last year, but now developer SideQuest Studios is letting us know the horizontally-scrolling shooter is on its way to the PLAYSTATION Network this October. Soldner-X puts you in the shoes of "an anti-hero mercenary and bounty hunter" who must save the Earth from an infection that spreads to both organic lifeforms and technology in "a mighty prototype star fighter." Other than the anti-hero part, it sounds like a cliché plot that gives a lone ship an excuse to take on hordes and hordes of alien enemies.

Soldner-X is an updated version of a 2007 PC title, with improvements such as enhanced graphics, 1080p resolution, new music tracks, easier default difficulty, Dual Shock 3 support, optional SIXAXIS support, and of course, everyone's favorite, trophy support! Check out the trailer above and the screenshot gallery below.

I think the reason some thought $30 was because that was the PC disc version price if I'm not mistaken.

I'm going to guess it will be $15, but we'll see.
Wasn't this supposed to be really mediocre?
I heard some who liked it, but most didn't. I haven't played it. I probably won't buy this myself unless improvements are made to make it better.

I found the game to be pretty shallow in comparison to other horizontal shooters. I'd rather wait for a US release of Einhander on the PSN then Soldner-X.

I've played the PC version. It's pretty friggin hard. Graphics look colorful and sharp, only to get better(?) for the PS3 version. I'd imagine co-op would make things more bearable. Maybe I'll split this with my friend when it's released... I'm hoping for a demo to see if it'd be compatible with the Fighting Stick 3 for an awesome arcade-y feel.
Finally, the killer app my $700 PS3 has been waiting for!
Metal Gear Solid 4
Uncharted
Little Big Planet
Resistance 2
Ratchet & Clank
So anyone who bought it..what's the verdict? Yay or nay?
I bought it today, but ended up playing something else. I'll get around to it tomorrow.

video looks good...but I can't bring myself to pay full price as a dyed in the wool CAG.
CheapyD, get your friend to hook us up with a discount for us cheap bastids. ; )

As I remember, the 9.99 on PSN is a much better deal than the price on the limited PC release, right? I'm in for 1.

-or-

Maybe if we bought the PC edition at Play-Asia for 19.99, we could get a free PSN code for the PS3 version. *hint* *hint*

Impressions I've read seem to be mixed. Some like it, some hate it. Most agree that the game is very hard and weapons being underpowered. Just don't expect this to be a Gradius, you might not understand combo system, and it's hard.

I'll probably still buy, but I'm not expecting a lot. I like these types of games, but not hardcore into them.

I bought it last night and played through the first level and some of the second. I am still trying to figure out the basics but it is a great looking title. The levels are long and the difficulty seems to jump really quick. The first level was pretty easy but then the second level was a lot more difficult. Probably play some more tonight but definetly worth the $10.

I have the PC version and you are right about some of the weapons, they feel totally underpowered, but it's part of the challenge of the game. The enemy AI have too much firepower at times that some levels feel impossible after retrying 3-4 times before getting through one point just to get stuck at another.
If not for the high difficulty, I'd be all over this game. I wonder if 2-player makes it easier...
Most try playing the game on normal or hard, where the game is really hard. There are easier difficulty settings, which people can get by with. It's just that too many are afraid to try them or too embarrassed. ;)
They misspelled Civilization in the trailer.
lol!!! I noticed that too. How did that slip?
the company seemed asain. maybe poor english skills?
i believe its done by a german developer. hence the name title.

what's wrong with games these days. You'd expect online multiplayer for most of them with all the online marketplace/friend's list/online console community/etc, but it seems lately a lot of games I've anticipated don't have online play...

This game hates encouraging people. The closest thing to encouragement this game has given me is "You're doing OK" But I got a C when beating a level and the C rank said LOUSY. I got the F rank and it said poor. What's B? Medicore?
