Some crash problems with Mass effect

Kevfactor

CAGiversary!
honestly i've never had such a major headache with a pc game as i have with mass effect. I have a pretty decent rig but stuff liek this is why i game on the xbox more than my 2k pc i built just a few years ago hehe.

anyways the problem is mass effect randomly crashes every hour or so(just the game, nto system) and i cant figure out why!

So far ive updated drivers(sound card, vid card, dvd) flashed my bios, did a upgrade install of my os

i dont think overheating is a problem because the temp on the lcd on the mobo is only 40ish and is an antec 1200 case with 5 fans blowing around hehe.

i am overcloacked but just with dummy settings and honestly i dont think thats the issue. i've oced the thing way past than what it currently is at with no problems.

game is also from steam so it should be patched!

Got any suggestions

here are my gen specs, if you need more info i'll post it :)

I7 920
Evga classified mobo
evga 295 vid card
6gb x3 Dominator 1600mhz ram
hp dvd burner
x-fi fatility titanium sound card
antec 1200 case
and a moonsomething 3 cpu cooler
os win 7 64bit pro

Dumb question but have you tried removing the overclock? Even the dummy setting. I know it seems crazy but I've had a hell of a time with overclocks causing game crashes... even the small ones. I'd try that first. If that doesn't work I'd try a complete uninstall of the video drives and do a search for evga 295 video drivers causing problems.

I did a preliminary search for you and it appears some people had issues with Physx Accelerator and had to turn it off. OCing seemed to be an issue as well.

I had crashing problems every once in awhile with ME so one crash every few hours is expected. Remember the gamer montra... save often and love it. Hope this helps.

thx will try that. i hate turning it off because it makes the ram slow unless i turn on the profile for the ram hehe. also only about 2.6 unoced :)

i was crashing a lot more but after updating my sound drivers it fixed it.

also at 1st had a problem installing nvidea drivers so i had to delete the folder for it to install again.

Slow? Not much about that machine appears to be slow :D The I7 isn't exactly a weak processor my friend :D

Let me know if you still have more problems. I have other things we can try as well.

well for what im use to lol

actually now that im at stock i dont really notice a difference. if i had my ram profile at default i might tho but i upped it to 2/12 to get it to 1600 haha.

i do crash less but it still crashes. i really think it's something to do with sound because after updating the drivers it's what caused me to crash less.

i think im just going to try to ge tthrough the game for mass effect 2 lol. just sucks tho when i go through 10 mins of dialog only to have it crash and do that over again. :)
