Finally. You really have no idea how long I've been waiting for this.

Team Elastec, an Illinois-based veteran company in the oil spill cleanup business, developed giant grooved discs that skimmed oil more than three times better than the industry standard to capture the $1 million top prize in the Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup X CHALLENGE, the X PRIZE Foundation announced today.
In a competition born out of frustration of oil cleanup technology in last year's BP Gulf oil spill, Elastec/American Marine company of Carmi, Illinois, and Cocoa, Florida, deployed a system that slurped oil in the test tank at a rate of 4,670 gallons (17,677 liters) per minute, with an efficiency of 89.5 percent. (Only 10.5 percent of the oily mix in the recovery tanks was water.)

Very impressive. Hopefully we will soon see this put into place in The Gulf.

Nah, the only spills bob cleans up happen on aisle 5.

Not the only spills - after he satisfies the Koch brothers, UB always remembers to wipe his chin.

Something fun to think about... how much of that $1 Million is going to go to the Federal/State Government in taxes.

What future R&D could Elastec use that money towards - as opposed to what the government will end up wasting it on.

Some really great guys work at Elastec. Did some vending there.

LOLZ@ the edits to this thread!

By the way, there are plenty of ways to call someone an ignoramous(I would know, I use them all), so there's no need to make fun of bob's job. He's labor; not management(I assume) and we should show a semblance of class solidarity at the very least.

*This is obviously not an endorsement of his views, but just a bit a class consciousness that I wanted to express.

...actually... I've been in management for about a year (this time 'round). So, I suppose, that gives you another reason to dislike me. ;)

If you're a "supervisor," then you're just an overseer. If you're actual management, then thanks for the info and the pass.

I hope you're not one of those fuckers trying to strip other Walmart workers of health benefits though cause then I'd be on all out hate mode.

Actual management. As for supervising, I have a single associate in the store that reports directly.

And no, I have no involvement in deciding the health care benefits of any other employees.

Just because you don't make the actual decision doesn't mean that you have no influence on the decision. Advocating for striping fellow employees of coverage is just as bad. As a Walmart employee in management, you should know exactly what issue I'm alluding to.

The single associate I supervise is a full time employee - and any additional associates I'd take on would be required to be full time employees as well.

What edits? I wasn't able to watch this thread so I'd love to know what was said and wiped.

This is far off topic. If only someone would report these posts to a moderator!
I wouldn't put bob in charge of overseeing a house plant.
Let me assure you, your opinion means a lot to me and I will cry myself to sleep over this one tonight.
