I went to my Wal-Mart today, and I had asked two different people and I got the same answer from them. This is what they said THEY are doing just so everyone knows, but, other stores may ALSO be doing the same thing. Just spreading some news to others.

Saturday the 18th, they will be starting a line at 7am in the Layaway area. Which means, I'm probably going to go have to be there at like 5-5:30am...lol UGH, this is kinda SICK!!

What the hell am I going to do for 17-19 hours in Wal-Mart?! LOL What If I wanna go eat something, pee, shit, ETC?! I never did a camping/wait in line for maaany hours before. How does this work?!

Is anyone else's Wal-Mart doing this?

Yep, it's always been like that at Wal-Mart. Either they'll start a line near the entrance, or some place inside.

I really have no idea what the HELL im going to do for 18 hours. I'm bringing someone with me..but.. what the HELL do u do ?!?!?!????

Bring a DS/PSP and buy a person you are next to in line lunch. That way they will be cool with saving your spot if you need to take a break. :D

I have a DS, a PSP, and a portable DVD player...so hopefully I am capable of managing this day, lol

Wonder if I order chinese food if I can say "Come to Layaway", LOL

Man, I can barely get Chinese to come to my front door, never mind the middle of a store haha.

Yeah this is true.. they probably won't understand the concept :( (not being mean..being honest really)

Maybe a pizza place will be more understanding of the concept. "Go to Layaway" LOL

if you'll end up lining up there at 7 am, you might as well just line up for Target the next day. it's pointless to wait for 18 hrs, when you can just wait a few hours at Target.

You realize that all they're likely saying there is that's the earliest they will let people line up. That doesn't mean people are going to start showing up at 7am, that'd be insane. Although at stores that aren't 24 hours, it could be worse. You'd be outside.

I was kinda thinking this too..
When time does Target open? 9am?

When would be a good time to go camp out then????

The 2 people at Wal-Mart said that they might be getting like 20-25.

I really don't know what I wanna do. I just know that I want a Wii on day 1 :(

Targets open at 8 AM. I know cuz I work there. I'm just going to were my work clothes to the launch and go ahead of the line and pretend to be going to work. I know it's underhanded but they are holding stuff for me anyway.

As far as I know they aren't opening early for it, but if they do I will be sure to post back and let you know.

Back to wearing work clothes, you could actually try wearing a red shirt and khaki pants, and just saying your the new guy/girl, and they would probably let you in. Atleast they would do that at my location anyway.

Wal-Mart might as well have an area for the launch at their Garden Center. i mean, only a few shoppers go there. since their garden center has it's own entrance, and few shoppers use that to get into the store.

this is shaq fuing brilliant. I think i may take it a step further, and apply for a part time job there, and quit after the first weekent and keep the clothing and just wear that on the launch day.

Your post got me thinking that I might change my plans. I was going to hit a Wal-Mart Supercenter so that I could wait indoors. I was planning on heading over sometime in the evening and waiting until midnight.

But what is the point of waiting 7 hours when I can just show up at Target at 5 or 6:00 am and wait a couple hours instead? Sure, it might be a little cold, but I could just sit in my car until the line starts to grow. With 69 Wiis, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Exactly. And for me there's like 462 Wii's within 5 (or 6) Targets that the furthest away is about 35 minutes. 1 is down the road, and the other is 10 minutes. The rest are 20 minutes and one is about 35.

With 462 Wii's available for ME within a 35 minute drive at maxime to JUST Targets--It's probably a safe bet I'll get one? I mean, people have pre-orders at EB/GS, some are going to Wal-Mart (theres a ton around me), some are going to BB, CC, Kmart, TRu..etc...soo..hopefully I can beat the odds ^_^

Just want this to be over. I am stressin too much, lol

what i hate is that you have to walk all the way down at the other side of the store. it's not like you can walk-in from the entrance and pick up your Wii. but instead you'll have to go over aisles and aisles, and a maze-like set-up of the store. LOL

now this isn't only limited to Wal-mart, but Target also. LOL

the Wii shouldnt be nearly as difficult to get your hands on compared to the ps3, the ps3 is very limited production, about what the xbox 360 had last year and the wii is a totally different story

I've got my heart set on Toys R Us and I've been wondering the same things you were wondering: like if you just absolutely HAVE to use the restroom, would the other people in line be cool with you stepping out (if, say, TRU's stock happened to be lower than we expect and an extended wait would be necessary), or would they try to say you're F'd when you get back. Hmm...who knows. Either way, for you, it sounds like there will be plenty to be found right around your area, so I doubt you'll need to do that big wait.

Bring a firend, some food and a portable game or DVD player (with ashit ton of DVDs).

At least you don't have to camp in the cold :D

rumor has it that they are passing them out at 12:01am so it wont be more than a 5-6 hour wait in walmart

again it could be a YMMV

Yeah, all Wal-Marts are doing a midnite release. Mine is just saying they are forming a line at layaway at 7am Saturday the 18th.. :(

I doubt that people will start lining up at 7am on Sat...that would be insane.

I was going to swing by and check it out around 3 or 4, see what it looks like, maybe come back later.

Two of the closest Targets to me will be getting 51 Wiis, so if worst comes to worst, I will hit one of those up first thing in the morning, and camp out starting at about 5 or 6...I showed up at one for the DS at about 630 and had no problem, hoping the same thing this time as well.

That's my plan now. I'm going to drive over to my closest Target (about 5 mins away) around 5:00 am and see if there is anything going on. If not, I'll just park my car and hang out in there until a line starts to form. The cool thing is that Best Buy is about 100 yards from the Target so if I have any problems getting extra controllers or games, I'll just walk next door and check BB.

to be honest, I think you'll be able to just buy a wii. they are getting LOTS and are going to be getting shipments in daily after launch.

I have a pre-order from WM.com but the more and more I read about supposed number of units to locations, I think there will be only minimal effort needed to secure one. My bet is that the Wii's sell out, but not until the afternoon or perhaps the next day.
