If it is in fact 2D gameplay...this will be the first time in a long while that I get excited for a new Sonic game.

Wait, there's a Wolf Sonic? When in the Great Kazoo did he mutate into a werewolf? Did David Naughton ambush and dry hump his leg, or something? Subsequently, I had no idea werewolfia (the disease, duh) could be spread through dry humping. Though it would explain Henrik Ibsen's sideburns...

Wait, he's already a hedgehog, so he's a wolf-hedgehog? WTF?

I was guessing from the video before that it would be mostly 2D and if so it could really turn out great. I'll try not to judge it based on Wolf Sonic and just hope that they do that well and it doesn't ruin the game.

If it's completely 2D, $30 and FAST then I'm in. I haven't enjoyed a Sonic game on a home console since Sonic 3.

They finally realized that Sonic was only fun in 2D 9 years later? I look forward to this, Sonic 3+Knuckles is probably my favorite game of all time, i hope they make it to XBLA soon!

No he's turned into a manbearpig!!! But seriously, I'll hold onto my judgement until the reviews come out.

Oh, I see, he's half man, half hedgehog, and half wolf.

I didn't watch the video, because I stopped anticipating anything Sonic sometime in the '90s, but those screenshots are just screaming Sonic Bandicoot (see: not a good thing). It's long past time to put the poor blue bastard down.

I'm trying my hardest not to pop a boner but not only is it a 2D Sonic, but it's also focused around the only three Sonic characters worth a damn?

I'll be keeping a close eye on this one.

Hopefully they don't screw this up!

The last Sonic game I remember having a blast with would probably be Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast.

Sounds cool, or at least I'm enjoying the werewolf-sonic screenshots. Still, like someone else mentioned, this game does sort of look like Sonic Bandicoot.

I'm with Scorch. First thought that popped into my mind... despite all of their broken promises and the homo characters that will probably never leave, I think they have it with this game.
I hope I can proudly say that I am Sonic's friend.

I am impressed. I was kinda hoping there would be a lulz moment in the video where he suddenly ran into some spikes and the *ring spill* sound would play.
My god, I think they've finally gotten it.
QFT. I can't believe what I just watched...it's taken them this long to finally get it right...I'm so happy.

When I saw this on IGN, I was pretty impressed. I actually WANT to play this sonic game for once. The thing is, there will be no point on getting it when it comes out because it will more than likely drop to sub-$30 within 8 weeks =\
looks good hope its not too fast
Seems to me like this game sort of plays it self, because there is no way that guy was doing all that himself with all that blur going on.

Thats what im talkin about how I hope its not to fast. I don't want it to me a quick reflexes game and like if you mess up he hits a wall and then has to start all slow to get back fast.

After looking at the new trailer on IGN, it doesn't look like you do a whole lot of "playing." Hold the stick to the right and press the occasional jump and/or dodge button to navigate the track. It's like the contextual system in Shenmue without the button prompts showing up on screen. Hopefully Sega can prove me wrong, because I really want to like a Sonic game.

you my friend need to rethink your life...

Well yeah, like sonic.

True.

The game seems slow enough to make some choices.

The best Sonic in years was the original Sonic Adventure, and it had segments where you barely felt like you had any control (and didn't). Still, there was enough gameplay between those segments to make it all fun (minus Biggs the Cat). That's the Sonic I hope this returns to, and it appears like it from the video. We shall see.

I saw the vid on Kotaku and I can't believe the way they were raving on like it's gonna be the best game since Sonic 2.

It looked just as bad as any of the other 3D sonic games, granted they're not stupid enough to show the bit where Sonic flies off the screen and dies in the video.

Any sonic game that begins with the camera panning round a town square is gonna be crap.
It's going to suck, like all sonic games not on the Genesis.
The GBA and DS games are also good.
The original Sonic games have more platforming that people give it credit for...
True, but they were hardly equivalent to Mario games. I do have the same reaction when people say that about Sonic Adventure. Yes, there were segments of just holding a direction, but they were mixed in with some decent platforming. It created a very "fun" experience, if not the most challenging.

Here's hoping the camera is capable of properly following the action. The last thing we need is another camera in the suit of Ninja Gaiden 2.

Especially Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
