Sony Blue-Ray Preorder

That is $999 more than I am willing to spend.
I'm just going to wait for the PS3. I'm not going to be buying any stand alone plaer until the format war plays out. It's hard enough buying games for 3 systems and having everything hooked up to one TV - I won't buy two different high definition DVD players...

I think this is just a big game of Chicken between Sony (Blu-Ray) and Toshiba (HD-DVD), just with more money. Whoever blinks first will probably incorporate the other, and then there will be peace.

They're gung ho about it, so if you looking for early adoption, plan on $599-$799 easy...
My 2 cents, the 360 will have a install base of around 5-7 million units by the time the PS3 is available. Wouldn't it be in the best interest of a game developer to release a game for both the PS3 and 360, save for the few exclusives the each party brings to the table? And if they do release a game for both the 360 and PS3, why would you need to get a PS3, since the graphical capabilities are so similar? I thought about getting one(PS3) at launch, but I can't justify the expected cost, especially since the 360 is no slouch.
