Holy crap! I guess that I was figuring that it would be something like that, but whoa!

Is the only difference between the $499 and $599 machines the size of the hard drive? (ie. 40GB?) My stream cut out there for a bit.

I do like that they completely backpedaled on the controller design though...I was hoping that they would do a little something to the controller's shape.., Bah.

Dreamcast can be counted as this gen...it just died early and it did have the triggers first.
 
Well, that's it, PS3 is done for.

360-quality graphics, less than 360 quality games, total ripoff of 360 and Wii controller, total ripoff of XBLM, and on top of that, $600.

I'm glad I chose Microsoft this time around.

well im just glad that smackdown is coming to xbox so i dont have to shell out for this thing at launch!!!

for anyone in the blueray market thought.. it might seem reasonable

No PS3 for me at launch. No PS3 for atleast 2 years. Not like im missing anything at all.

Wii = Will wait 2 days outside of Best Buy

not a bad price for a blu ray player and a game console in november. You people forget bluray players are 999 now and just came out.
 
bought a PS2 and PS1 and PSP at launch sorry im not ready to shell out $600 for a system.... $400 tops i will enjoy my 360 for the next 2 years!
 
Honestly, what market are they targeting with that price? Are they just getting it out there as a gimmick now so that in 3-4 years it will be feasibly priced?

Dropping the price would make PS3 seem even more expensive by comparison and drive down demand for it even more.

I am absolutely wowed and mezmorized by what the ps3 has to offer. The controller is revolutionary, the tech is revolutionary, the design is revolutionary. The graphics far surpass anything i have witnessed thus far from anything. And obviously, the games shown, like Resistence: Fall Of Man, show us that Killzone is so possible, and that Sony is delivering on what they promised. I love sony....

I remember when 40GB of hard disk space was worth $100, but it wasn't this year. Is that really the only difference between the two versions? If so, that's insane.
 
Yeah it may cost less than a stand alone bluray player but who needs a standalone bluray palyer at launch. $1000, plus 30 bucks a disk? No way buddy.
 
I won't be all that sad if Sony goes bankrupt because of the PS3.

The only PS3 exclusive series I'm really looking forward to is Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, and FFXIII looks kinda stupid (I hate futuristic FF games).


I think I'll be happy with a Wii and a 360.
