What an idiot that narrator is.

"Those Chinese still playin Lair..or Asians or whatever"
"They still have 'Home' in American...mayby they don't have a word for that in Japan?"

Agreed.
As well as all the 'gay' comments.

Has Sony said anything about using the theater for movies or concerts. Between their film and music departments they could stream some great stuff. Either do it for free using old movies and rising bands they want to promote, or charge say $2 for a movie between theater and DVD release (streaming at specific times only) or a live concert by a large act. I could easily be tempted to buy some kind of season pass for $20 if they put up good concerts. If they're smart they will also give easy links to the ability to buy movies through the store, or download albums (assuming they open a MP3 store) and rock band/guitar hero tracks.

Yes, let me dream.

wtf sony? I'm still kinda pissed about the sendout to qore users...[/quote]

If it makes you feel better, they fucked qore users too with the SOCOM beta. I haven't even gotten my code yet and plenty of others haven't either. Sony's terrible at this shit.

Wow. I hadn't used Home in like a month or so, and I see that it's all fancy and whatnot now. And there are actually people using it. I'm somewhat impressed.

Central Plaza has been entirely redesigned, and even features a dance-party area blaring a generic house beat.

I dig the redesign, but it looks like they took out the chessboards. Yech.

Is Home region-locked? I think I just got a code for the Japanese beta (don't remember signing up for it) but if it's just on the Japanese servers I don't know if it'll be worth checking out. I'm not in a hurry to try out Home anyway.

Anyone in one of the foreign betas?

I think it is IP restricted so unfortunately you would not be able to log on. However I could be wrong.

Apparently I was wrong. As long as you are under your JP account it should work. http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3home&thread.id=298559

Rolento, I got an email about an hour ago on my Japanese PSN email address. It looks similar to the one at the link Smog just posted. Actually it's weird because I got a second one about 20 minutes later with a slightly different subject line, and it has a different 12-digit code. I'll try putting them through a translator to see if I can figure out what's up.

Well, I put in the first code and now I'm downloading the Japanese Home beta. If anyone else is in, add metalyjapan on PSN and we can kick it nerd style.

The second code it turned out is for the Namco Museum beta, which I'm assuming means the classic Namco arcade games within Home. Sort of weird that it gets its own download code.

Well check the PS Blog!!! And i guess your e-mail!

-To sum it up they are sending out invites now, some people have received them already. It says "thousands" of new invites.
-There will be more in the future
-Some emails may take longer than others to "make their way through the system"
-Open Beta in "Autumn" obviously free for anyone to download

For the amount of money I threw into PSN... I'd think I'd get something by now on ANY of my PSN accounts. Nothing, nadda, zip, ZERO.

I guess they should have rephrased their announcement to "Second Wave of Qore Subscribers Get Home Today"

Let's see...bought Ratchet, Pain, Eden, PJM, SSDHD, Echochrome, the NGS dlc, the Folklore DLC, played Warhawk (only 10 hours or so), UT3 (about 2 hours online) and SCIV (not online though) and have a bunch of trophies. I guess I'm not in their demographic.

EDIT:
i just got my email a few minutes ago.:applause:

You go to hell! You go to hell and you die!

I doubt one is coming my way. SOE=Shafted On Everything
It doesnt matter what you spend on the store. So everyone needs to stop bringing that up like it means something. Trophies probably dont matter either.

You're quite right. I have PSN accounts that haven't been used since November 20th 2006 that haven't seen anything except "New Playstation Downloads" subject headers from those e-mail accounts either.

I quit my mail app. Since it fetches every minute, I'm going to piss myself off by staring at it. Might as well surprise myself in a few hours. Happy Friday!

PlayStation Home Beta Extended Today

+ Posted by Jack Buser // Director, PlayStation Home
If you’ve applied for the PlayStation Home closed beta, but have yet to receive an invite, you may want to check your inbox again as we’re opening PlayStation Home’s expanded closed beta again to thousands of new beta testers. The closed beta test is going quite well, so please don’t sweat if you didn’t make today’s list, as this wave of invitations will be followed by many more before our launch into open beta.

Since the initial wave of new invitations went out a few weeks ago, we’ve been having an incredible amount of fun in PlayStation Home meeting each other, launching into games together, and dancing the night away by Listen@Home! To give you an idea of what we’re up to, we gave some folks in the media a sneak peak of PlayStation Home. Check out their tour recaps:

Can’t wait to see everyone in PlayStation Home - I’m always down for a game of pool or rocking the robot lock!
See you in there.

Still no info on invites.

Sorry, folks. I am looking from time to time.

It appears that people in the JPN beta are in the same world as the US. I see cats wearing cute lil' beta shirts with kana on them that I don't have access to in the US store.

And they probably have the Namco games too. Crapola.

Is there a list of controls for Home anywhere? I was mostly able to figure out the character customization but then I was trapped in my Japanese apartment because I couldn't read anything.

Edit: Finally figured out how to get out of my place! I think. I found a list with photos of what look like a few other areas, clicked one, and now I'm getting the slowest 40MB download I've ever seen. Also I love that there's a shoryuken emote.

Figured I would check my email before I went to bed, and I had an email from the PS Underground. Alas, it was the PS Store new downloads. A day late so maybe tomorrow.... The bastards sure know how to keep hope alive

same here... you and I... you and I

I bet 2.5 comes at the end of October, and Home comes out in November. Just an educated guess though...

RR, we should know by now that the prime candidates never get in (Me and you, Pete Rose, Ron Paul etc)

very sadly true :(

from what people are saying when Little Big Planet launches, so will Home 1.0 as well as FW 2.50

If Sony really wanted to do a proper Beta of Home they would work from member's Friends Lists. If you get into the Beta, so does everyone on your Friends List. That way there are a group of people, who know each other, grouping together testing out Home. When it is expanded, the Friends List of the last Friends List are now invited, ... etc. Keep going until the official launch. It seems rather simple to me. What is the point of Home when none of your friends are part of Home?

Dunno about them launching seperately, maybe within a few days of each other. Though I don't doubt it will come at the very end of October, just because that's the way Sony likes to do things.

Well, it's likely the 2.5 update has everything the firmware needs to interface with Home, so it'll likely be released first, or at the same time. Probably first since the firmware needs to get out amongst PS3 users before Home does, as you can't login to PSN without having the latest firmware.

Well we know there will be a firmware update October 14th/15th for the Socom Mic, so Home could come at the end of October if that is 2.5
