I am going to be coming into some cash very shortly, and I was thinking of finally picking up a PSP. Anyone know of the best deal? Anyone have any game recommendations?

Wow, been lurking too long. First post. w00t.

Anyone know if the $130 after rebate deal is still going on at FYE? Been thinking of picking up a PSP myself, but I've also been a little bit concerned about whether or not a redesign will be announced at E3. $130 might push me to get one though.

If you happen to live anywhere near the sacramento area there's a sac based (music/game store) that sells them used for $124.00 (Dimple records)

i say wait it out--either you'll get a very good deal this winter or you'll be informed about a redesign coming up

Hmm.. well if you check your local area on craigslist.org, you can possibly find a decent deal on a PSP :) However, exercise common sense and whatnot for scams :p

I just cashed a larger than usual paycheck & am also looking for the best deal on a PSP. What's weird is I can only find the "Core" package & they're going for $169.99 absalutely everywhere. The only place I've found giving any kind of incentive is Circuit City. They're giving an extra rechargable battery; which looks like an official Sony PSP battery. They say it normally sells for over $30.

Dell.com sells a few systems, including the PSP. The good news is they don't charge shipping/handling & they're .99 cents cheaper than the stores. Then again, if I'm paying out that much cash then I'd rather just go to a store & have it in my hot little hands immediately.

It looks like Ebay is the only option for finding a PSP for less, but then there is the "burn factor". I just got burned by a seller. I bought a used PSP w/ accessories as well as a new DSLite. They never arrived, I filed a complaint, & now he's "no longer a registered user". At least I payed through PayPal & will get my cash back eventually. Still, it really pissed me off.

Like someone else mentioned, I would wait on a redesign. There have been rumors a while but I think these are for real.
remember, if you wait on a redesign, you might also be waiting on homebrew for a looong time (if you're into that sort of thing)
That's actually a pretty legit argument. I have a ton of old PS1 games I have that would be fun on the go (probably more fun than 99% of PSP games). I don't have a PSP yet, sold my old one last year, but I read a little about the ability to run PS1 games you already own without having to redownload them through Sony's shop.

That's one of the main reasons I want a PSP. The other is MGS: Portable Ops.

However, since the redesign has to be basically the same as a regular PSP in terms of software, I doubt the motherboard will be too different. The firmware of the DS and DS Lite weren't that different.
