Sony Rewards Blu-ray/DVD Points thread

I figured I'd create a thread in the movie section for Sony's Reward system. Everytime you buy a Sony Blu-ray or DVD it comes with a code that allows you to register your disc at sonyrewards.com. You get 30 points per BD, 15 points per DVD, and if you're a Sony Cardholder you get 45 points, and 25 points respectively. Registration is completely free.

Now the best part about this is the codes are multi-use. So anyone who buys a Sony pictures studio movie can pass along their code in this thread. I've made it a Wiki thread so you can easily add your code to the list. Please post in the thread which code you've added as well, thanks.

It is 10 disk registrations in a ROLLING 30 day period with a maximum of 3 disk registrations per day
Red = Titles that are either not released yet, or no code has been posted for it

So that's 945 points so far (1465 for cardholders). Feel free to post any for other movies listed there! Eventually we can earn enough to get some movies and other rewards from their site \\ :D/

Also I do realize there is a Sony Reward thread in the PS3 section, but it's a bit of a mess with movie codes posted here and there. I figured since this is a movie section it's best to have them all neatly organized in a centralized section.

(credit to the folks at Blu-ray.com for some of these codes)

Soooo I have entered 12 movie codes within the past 5 days. What's up with that. 3 have been from recent UV codes, and the others are ones posted in the OP, if that matters any.
I was able to add another today, making my total 13 in 8 days.

This code is for The Vow.
You are correct. In the old days you picked the title you were registering when typing in a code. My history has:

01/21/2013 Colombiana (DVD) 15 pts

10/30/2013 The Vow (DVD) 15 pts

Guess you can't register Colombiana (DVD) anymore.

So I've been redeeming several more since then, and I think the deal is that the old multiuse codes are still 10 a month, but the UV codes are unlimited. That or they are on their own separate 30 day window.

Just got this in an email (Sony credit card):

Redeem 2,000 points, get 2,000 bonus points.

I'd love to post the image but the CAG forum software won't allow it.

Fine print:

*Offer available from 1/06/14 –1/27/14. If you are an active Sony Card member in good standing, and you redeem 2,000 points for any Sony electronics, music, movies, or select PlayStation items within the Sony Rewards online catalog between 1/06/14 –1/27/14, you will qualify for the 2,000 Bonus Points Offer. Offer excludes all Gift Cards, Movie Tickets, Music Unlimited Subscriptions, and PlayStation Digital Products. Only one 2,000 Bonus Points Offer will be awarded per Sony Card member. Offer cannot be combined with any other offer. Reward points redemptions before 1/06/14 are not eligible for this 2,000 Bonus Points Offer. The 2,000 points will be awarded 7–10 days after the promotional period has ended and will expire March 31, 2014. You can redeem for a combination of items that total 2,000 points before any applicable tax/shipping. Excludes Purchase Credit Requests. This offer is non-transferable. It may only be used by the person to whom this email is addressed.

So it mentions "select Playstation items" but nowhere on the site or the email does it mention what those are.  I tried to fill out their CS question webform and it's bugged, won't let me send it.  Don't feel like calling them to find out, I'll leave that up to the rest of you.

Yeah I just got an email about that too. I think I'll wait a few days before trying to buy something with 2000 points, just to make sure the system sees my purchase and I'm qualified for it. I only have 900 SR points now, so I'm hoping I can spend $11 with a credit card to get enough points spent to qualify too. Looks like digital PSN items won't qualify, so maybe I'd buy a Vita game or accessory.

The money ball blueray code said The Vow when I register it, needs to be changed, there were other errors in the list but I forgot what they were.

Someone earlier in thread suggested entering the code a 2nd time since some codes are the same.

If that doesn't work, then it's an error and this may be too: "30 Minutes or Less - bluray" is actually "Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengence - dvd"

Thanks for the headsup about the game.  I thought it was looking like Sony was cutting back on giving out opportunities to earn SR points besides from the WoF points now, ever since their new integration with PSN accounts.

I think you can redeem any physical item off the sony rewards catalog ..but not psn cards network cards etc.. and i think you have to redeem 2000 points ot get the 2000 back..900 and paying the difference probably wont work sorry..

And the immediately go to Facebook to delete the post. :)
I just hide sony rewards posts from everyone but me.

I think I'll just order Lego Marvel for PS4 for the 2000 points. If I spend the 6000 now, I should probably earn enough for the next new PS4 game that I want by the time it releases.

Well my latest CapitalOne monthly statement should come through hopefully tomorrow, so I'm hoping I'll have 2000 points to use for the promotion in time.  If not, I'll just go ahead and use my PlayStation card for the extra $ left to cover whatever I'll be getting (still not sure what I'll get as PSN cards aren't eligible I guess).

Hey guys, I know this is about DVD's but didn't know where I could post up the question. I was wondering how often they restock awards that are sold out and is there anyway to find out when they do restock? I have enough points to get the PS4 Camera but its been sold out for the longest. That's the only thing I want right now.

it's really pretty random when items appear/disappear on Sony Rewards, but it seems that it's maybe monthly when items are restocked/removed from the site. Also, take note that you can used your SR points on Sony's online store too (here's the PS4 camera: http://store.sony.com/playstation-camera-zid27-PS410040/cat-27-catid-All-PS4-Accessories). Looks like it's out of stock right now too, but it's worth looking over there for items too.

The PS4 Camera has been out of stock since before Christmas, it's pretty rare to find for whatever reason these days.

Anyone get their 2000 points yet?
Nothing yet. I only had about 1300 points to use, so I purchased the extra 700 points with a credit card at checkout for two John Williams music CDs. Hopefully it'll qualify for the promotion.

I just got an email about the 2000 points I recently got...better take note of the bolded text here:

We’re thrilled that you took part in our recent Bonus Points Campaign in January. Now being a Cardmember is more rewarding than ever.

Your 2,000 bonus points have been added to your points balance and will expire on March 31, 2014 (12:00 PM ET)*.

So....make sure you redeem your bonus 2000 points asap before they expire in 1.5 months.

Don't they usually have a 5000 point one as well in march ? Also for those who didn't have 20 dollars in points did you still get the 20 dollars in bonus points when you paid the difference for the points (eg. Had 15 dollars in points and had to buy the other 5)?

I had about 1300 points, and used my credit card to purchase 700 points ($7.00) to reach the 2000 points. I received the bonus 2000 points about 2 weeks later :)

im thinking about joining this, what are peoples thoughts about the program ?
It's basically done as a program. You should only look at it as a rewards credit card at this point. 1 point per dollar for purchases plus bonus points on Sony products. Also the PSN bonus that doesn't have to be items bought with the card.

I think it used to be good. I got a decent amount (at least to me) out of it. Now, not so much. Unique movie codes and the issues with the capped or sold out PSN credit which seems to randomly come and go.

However, if people have the time, I think everyone should join it, if just for the free points. I believe all the old movie codes should still work, so you can still get a decent amount of points along with the slow but steady wheel of fortune weekday puzzles. Plus any of the special movie tie in promos where you share on FB. However, once you finish all the codes and there's no new promos, it will be really slow. Though if you don't mind getting their credit card, that would be your best bet for additional points.

If you're thinking of getting the PlayStation credit card from CapitalOne, then it's a no-brainer to have a Sony Rewards account. With the PlayStation credit card you get 1% back on all purchases, 3% back for phone bills, fast-service restaurants, and movie theaters, and 10% back on PlayStation Network purchases. You get those percentages/monies back when you link your card with the Sony Rewards account. Also, if you link your Sony Rewards account with your PlayStation Network account, you'll automatically earn 1% back from PSN purchases, regardless if you have a PlayStation credit card or not. So in the end, if you do have a PlayStation credit card, you'll earn 11% back in total on PSN purchases.

Lately the PSN/SEN codes/cards on the SR site you can redeem your SR points for have been in stock for quite a while. Also, the PSN/SEN codes used to have been locked out only for card holders (either PlayStation credit card or Sony credit card), but now they're available for any Sony Rewards account. As others said, you can still use this thread's DVD/Blu-ray registration codes to get points, but take note that you'll earn a little bit more points for each registration if you have a PlayStation/Sony credit card linked to your SR account. There's also still a few promotional film websites that have Sony Rewards rewards for playing a game or sharing it on Facebook (usually 250 points, which is equal to $2.50).

In the end though, once you've registered all of the DVD/Blu-ray codes, it's pretty hard to earn any more points on a common occurrence. There is a daily (Monday-Friday) Wheel of Fortune puzzle you can solve that gives you 10 points each day (so just 10 cents), check this site for the puzzle answers: http://w11.zetaboards.com/GatheringSpot/forum/53716/ If you do have a PlayStation credit card though, it is worth having a SR account still though. Every month I earn about $7 just from paying my Internet and cellphone bills with the card. Also, take note that you can redeem your SR point on the SR website and also at the official Sony store website (http://store.sony.com/)

I personally don't see it as too bad, though not as good as it used to be. The Wheel Of Fortune game gives you 50 points a week (about 2500-2600 a year). This is more than enough to get a $20 PSN/SEN card for a minute or two of effort daily. It does mean doing the WOF game each weekday, but that is not too tough if you get in the habit. There are usually a handful of 50-250 point promos through the year for various Sony movies so it is not too tough to crack 3000 points annually without entering any movie codes. Most loyalty programs have few if any free points and if they do it is definitely not 3000 points a year.

Working a whole year for a $20 SEN card isn't that great a return IMO. This is compared to the glory days a few years ago when there used to be 20 to 30 points a day and 200 points every weekend for the jeopardy game.

I agree it isn't as good as it used to be - the program is what it is. Compare almost any loyalty program to what it used to be - My Coke Rewards, Warner Bros, Best Buy, Disney, etc. - and almost all are not as lucrative as they once were. 1-2 minutes a day for $30+ annually isn't too bad though not stellar and I definitely understand it is too slow a burn for many. I see many spending more time for a contest with no guarantee of a return - at least this will return something even if not huge. There are ways to get faster rewards, but with no purchases and not getting a Sony credit card you will still get about $30 or more a year for the small effort. To each their own and I definitely understand folks giving up on the program - I expect Sony to restrict or give up on it myself.

So do you guys think "pianoidick" is really the dude in the picture or is he just a clever funnmy person that made up a persona? (I assume most of you use bargainshare for the answers since I posted that forum years ago)

There's also the ability to earn points by logging into the Sony site and using their link to other retailers such as Best Buy and Gamestop. You're supposed to earn points when you make online purchases this way. Just did it for the first time the other day and I don't keep track of points to know how well it works but I'd have a lot more points if I had known about this in the past.

Did anyone else get this email? I'd post with the image but again, the CAG forum software won't allow it.

It's their version of a commerce portal, like fatwallet, Ebates, or Mr.Rebates. PayPal/BillMeLater has the same thing. Most are between 1% to 5% which isn't a lot but it definitely adds up over time.
