Yeah, because specs are always final even a year and a half before launch? Most of the stuff that was taken out was overkill in the amounts they initially hoped to include, so if you were expecting them to stay, you were fantasizing pretty heavily.
 
I'm just glad that Sony is somehow trying to meet the massive demand of the market to abandon DVDs for home theater use with an upgrade so utterly and clearly obvious to the consumer.

On a completely unrelated note, did Sony ever come out and say whether or not the PS3 would be region free on PS1 and PS2 games?
