Well I don't know many high schools that teach film. You need to have an MBA/MA or a PhD to teach it at a college-level, likely a PhD to get employed.
"Obama doesn't care about Pakistanis" - McCain
George Bush doesn't care about black people.

Don't Pakistani's qualify as black.

John mcCain supports George Bush's policies.

Therefore John McCain doesn't care about Pakistanis. :D
I never said I don't believe in Evolution. I just don't believe that life happened by chance. You can see that there are evidences of small evolution, that fish's eyes adapting, the finches beaks changing and so on. I cannot deny that.
Small scale evolution? They're splitting into two distinct species, and we're watching it happen.

I don't see why it's such a stretch from that to imagine life started spontaneously.

1000 mW laser...
How about the 1 Petawatt laser that we have here that has a greater power output than the entire US power grid and that's the brightest light in the universe?

Jimmie, make me a testical pizza.

Only $15 million a pop, and a million a year to maintain it!

Not to mention that you have to fire it in a vacuum, because if you fired it in air, you'd cause nuclear fusion and irradiate yourself to death.
Unless you want to create nuclear fusion like we do.

I'm definitely going to try to get into the laser lab at some point for research.

In the UNIVERSE?

You ever taken an astronomy course?
In the UNIVERSE?

In the universe (as far as we know).

Gamma ray bursts, the most catastrophic events that we've ever observed, are estimated to have an intensity on the order of 10^21 W/cm^2.
This baby gets up to at least 10^22 W/cm^2.
How big is this thing exactly? And what are they used for? That shit must cost so much to power.
It's $1 million to run/maintain per year, with 100-200 shots per year, so each shot costs ~$5000-$10,000.

Take a look at the photos. Those concrete blocks are there for radiation shielding for when fusion experiments start in December. :)

I have a hard time believing that, but that's whats up.

Neutron Stars are totally where it's at though.

Edit to your edit:
Shouldn't they be using iron, not concrete blocks for radiation protection? Just seems a little safer...
Hey rocko. Did you see the sonic stylus that Buy.com is selling.
Yeah, I already picked those up on eBay. They were bonuses at Gamestop but I forgot to preorder.

All I need is the Prinny stylus and a Pirates of the Caribbean to have all the US promo DS styli. Not counting two shitty Wal-Mart ones that aren't really worth any money at all to acquire.

The coolest thing I ever learned in astronomy class is that if you take the equation for determining a black hole, and plug in the statistics of our universe, it comes out nearly exactly the same as a black hole.

I dunno about shielding. It is fusion, which I think produces less radiation than fission.

I'm sure they know what they're doing. They're on the bottom floor of a 17 floor building, so they probably are making sure not to irradiate and kill everyone.

I wonder who funds something like this. Those pictures are pretty amazing. Oh and do they have enough precious tritium to carry out a project of this magnitude?

H00ray for finally finding some green! Too bad I won't be able to meet up with them for another 36 hours or so. It's comforting to know there is some around though.

New episodes of South Park start tomorrow too, which makes the above hold more significance.

Also, killer sweet Clyde Frog avatar, K to the C.

My music teacher is such a pompous asshole. I swear that he's trying to make us feel bad for not trying harder. He said something to the effect of " I could give you an A, but wouldn't you rather earn an A?"

Well lets see, nobody knows the difference when it comes to my GPA, so i'd take the easy A. He treats us all like we're music majors and this shit matters to us.

Beginning to wish i'd taken history instead.

edit- Also went to the symphony center over the weekend for extra credit. I told him about it and he didn't seem to give a fuck.

What's up, all?

Messing around in my sketch book again. I think I'll fix this up and ink it.

Still on a Power Girl kick...

The "laser" of the future deserves a web site better than one that looks like it was made on Geocities circa 1997.

Your kid always draws the same thing, least it's not cocks I guess but still, it seems he's got issues.

I just got done watching all 6 issues of the Dead Space animated comic series. They were pretty awesome. I love Ben Templesmith's art style. Anybody who is getting the game should definately watch them.

And with those pleasant thoughts in mind, I think I am gonna head off to bed. Night OTT.

Interesting preview of the vivarium today. Tons of different rooms devoted to mice and rats that the vet/pharmacy students use for whatever. Kinda funny to hear the lady talk about them like a resource, ie. we order and go through 200 of these a month etc. I'm not someone who is bothered by it, but I've just never had that mindset.

Also, makes you feel a little uneasy when you're being given a tour of the various rooms and we stop at one and the lady tells me not to go in there because there is a virus outbreak. Plus, the strep/cancer/alcohol testing mice have a tendency to be dead which means I have to dispose of dead mice and rats which is a little more than just swapping out cages, but no big.
