SoulCalibur IV - (10.17.08) - Vader/Yoda DLC set to release on 10/23 [400 points]

is the halloween dlc only going to be up for a short time or stay up? Last I played this game I had read that the DLC that came with the CE was made for everyone. Seeing how I have the CE will it tell me I already have the DLC if I just start downloading the packs because if I remember reading correctly it was not put on it if it was what came with the CE or not.

I was really expecting this game to get this Ace Combat DLC treatment, something new almost every week. Kinda disappointed this isn't going to try to top that 130 bucks of AC download content out there.

Seriously... It's disappointing that it's taken this long for them to put up new, non-PE items. I hope this Halloween set just means the DLC floodgates are opening, though!

The next DLC will be 150 points for Santa hat, white beard, black boots, female santa dress, and elv shoes with bells on the tips. :D

I'm curious to see what they do with future DLC, too. It's the first new DLC for the US in over a month, but Japan has gotten regular DLC since launch. Now that Japan is finally finished with all of the LE items (I believe they got the suits for the guys last week) we might start seeing new content regularly.

What I'd like to know is how much of the new content will actualy be new and not just unlocked bit by bit from the disc.

What DLC packs have the stuff that came with the LE? I have the LE and dont want to pay for the stuff I already have.

I picked it up. I am a sucker for holiday themed DLC! I love my Halloween & Christmas Kameo packs :)

Whats the theme look like? :whistle2:k

On another note, online has been in the crapper lately. I see a lot more spamming then I used to, and in other times I see level 49s that are playing Godawful. I think that most of the spammers are:

Kilik
Maxi
Yoshimitsu
Some Sigfrieds

Whenever I know I can see a spammer (ie someone I fought two matches ago), I tend to use my anti spammer, who is a beefed up Sig with near perfect stats. If anyone wants I could post them later. Also, can anybody freaking use Maxi correctly? The think that just because he looks cool when hes attacking they become instantly good with him. The mashers on Maxi fucking sicken me. Also, does anyone else think Ivy was made for the more skilled people and Algol/Hilde/Apprentice/Vader were made for the newbies? Maybe it's just me.

Hilde seems a bit more complicated than someone like the apprentice to me.

I'm kinda suprised that there's alot of Maxi mashers in IV, since he's alot more punishable than he was before (although he still kicks ass with his fakes and mixups + charges)

I checked the downloads on the 360 and it was only showing 2 DLC packs out of the 5. So I'm wondering if the other 3 are just the stuff that came with the LE and wont show up because I have them alread from getting the LE. Is that how they are doing this?
we had a tourney. the 360 side finished quick, and the PS3 side has yet to be finished  I never was able to fight my opponent in the final round
Really? Maybe we can get our match to finally take place since we could never connect, although its been a while since I've played this. . .

Hmmm.....I have 2.19 I won in the stride contest, either of the dlc packs worth getting? If no I might just get a couple trucks for Motorstorm, or one of the PSeye games.

The pumpkin heads are great. The second DLC pack is worth it for those alone. The rest of the equipment, including the helmet pack, is not so exciting but it should come in handy if you like to make original characters.

October 1, 2008 - Two new DLC's full of failure

"Weapon Set: bonus weapons"
"Weapon Set: ultimate weapons"

300 points each

"Please note that items from this set can also be acquired within the game so purchase this pack wisely"

DONT SUPPORT THIS SHIT. ALL IT DOES IS UNLOCK THE JOKE AND ULTIMATE WEAPONS. JUST DO IT YOURSELF FOR FREE.

Namco i didn't think you could release anymore failure.

I don't have a problem with that kind of DLC. If people want to pay for superfluous equipment instead of just spending a few minutes earning the gold, it's their money and it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game.

I'm just disappointed because I read "bonus weapons" and at first thought they would be never-before-seen weapons for everyone. More new stuff, please.

This seems like a continuation of the Collector Edition bonus download as I know I got all those items when I first started the game.

I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up after the small shock of last weeks holiday themed pack. Let's see...next week will be NEW STAGE (See-Saw, this stage can be unlocked through play), NEW CHARACTERS (These characters can be unlocked through play), and probably different denominations of gold.

At first I thought maybe I was acting a little spoiled. I mean, off the top of my head I can't really come up with many fighting games that feature frequent updates (not that SC4 does but stay with me here) and DLC. I'm used to just buying my fighting games and getting the most out of them until the inevitable sequels.

Setting aside that times have changed and expectations for continued support seem almost standard with certain titles, it's not like we're not paying for these items either. True, the profit margin is probably quite small, but most of what people are looking for in SC4 DLC could be done as special projects on the side by members of Project Soul (or just pull some modelers from Idol Master).

Ugh, sorry for the rant. Here's hoping for some actual, not-on-the-disk, not-already-accessible content. The occasional patch is nice, too. If anything just to watch the tournament players go into a frenzy. ;)

DUDE. Some guy online had a zillion custom characters and they were all Kilik or Seung Mina. :bomb: Got him three times in a row with Siegfried's 1B though. \\:D/

Also there was some Yoshimitsu who was pretty high level but spent the entire match killing himself. GREAT.

I have respect for him already.

I still don't like online not because of lag, but because people are only concerned about winning and not having a good fight. it's the equivalent of playing dirty in an FPS game just to win.

I'd rather lose to a skilled player than win to 10 kilik BBB combo people.

I thought the US had 5 DLC Packs for this game. On my 360 it only has 2 and all of them you can get in game with out buying the packs? Wish I knew this before I bought the Halloween one.

How much do you think Vader/Yoda will cost on the respective opposite consoles? I think 1.99 would be appropriate, but they'd probably go for like 3.99, but that's just my opinion.

Are we just talking about the bonus weapon downloads and stuff? I'm already peeved at Namco as it is for this crap, but if I end up caving I want to know which packs I already have.

You're fine, the two costume backs require the download codes to unlock, unlike the weapon packs that can simply be unlocked by playing the game.

The three missing costume packs fill in the rest of the world in on the LE costume content (maid, school, and formal clothes).

Ok so as long as I don't download the weapons packs i have not bought anything that I could have just unlocked in game some how.

Would anyone be interested playing online today (360)? I'm looking to get a couple of achievements, and learn to play a bit better. I'm not too great, but I'm getting comfortable with a few characters.

If you're new to the game, or your just plain helpful, hit me up. I should be on at about 6:15pm PST.

October 10, 2008 -Vader Yoda set to release as DLC on 10/23

Nearly three months after the game's July launch, each version of Soulcalibur IV will get the other version's exclusive character as downloadable content. Starting on Thursday, October 23, Xbox 360 owners will be able to download Darth Vader from the Xbox Live Marketplace for 400 Microsoft Points ($5), whereas PS3 players can grab Yoda from the PlayStation Network for $4.99.
$5 for a character is ridiculous.
Yes, that is rather steep, although I just know I'll still be buying the character like the moron I am.

Same =(

What, why do 360 owners pony up an extra penny? Hmm, either way, its something to consider I suppose, but my SCIV phase is moving on...

It's just the character. And the character is basically an unlock code (108kb for 360, 3mb for PS3). Every non-music piece of DLC in SCIV can be earned in-game...I think except for the School and Halloween outfits. I don't think the school outfits are on the US DL stores though.

If it's any consolation, the Docking Bay practice stage can be accessed in Versus mode now. I'm not sure how it's unlocked or when, but I noticed a big shiny N hovering over the image in the stage select the other day (360 version).

I beat story mode with Vader and purchased all of his weapons. Not sure if that had anything to do with it, but hey, I'm all for more stages.
