From the Comedy Central Press Release:
Deal Includes 42 New Episodes Of "South Park"

Comedy Central and "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have renewed their contract in a deal that will keep the creative duo at the cable channel through the end of 2008, it was announced today by Doug Herzog, president, Comedy Central.

The deal consists of three more years of "South Park" episodes with 14 new episodes each year. Parker and Stone will continue under the new agreement to write, direct and edit every episode of "South Park" as they have since the creation of the show. New episodes of "South Park" will begin on October 19 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Also, South Park finally wins an Emmy after 5 nominations! It won in the category, "Best Animated Program (under 1 hour long)."
 
It's incredible that the show has been around for this long. That's not say that the show's quality is bad -- I feel quite the opposite. It's just...they really pushed the envelope with this...didn't expect it to last this long.

Great news about a great show.
 
Now I know why last season was so great. They were writing for a new contract. Like NBA players playing for a new contract. Let's just hope this doesn't mean three years of mediocrity.
