I know this game will probably be sub $40 retail within a month or so but for those who can't wait to play it i thought i'd mention this deal. According to the reviews and what i've seen its one of the best Spiderman games yet.

Nice - got it for $16 shipped with SAVE50 and Saver. Was meaning to pre-order vanquish anyway with some store credit.

It's got to be worth at least that to trade in in a week or two after playing through it if I decide it's not worth keeping.

Did this game completely bomb or what?

Serves Activision right for messing with the open-world concept. Web of Shadows was the best Spider-Man game in years, and why reviewers trashed it so badly, I will never understand.

Locked in the trade in price today incase it drops. I can always cancel and if the game is shitty I'll just send it off for the $32 in amazon credit when it gets here.

I just played SD and WoS back to back..

I think they are pretty much equal in overall terms of quality, but both very different...

WoS starts so strong, but the last 2-3 hours of the game are soooo boring and repetitive.

I totally agree, I loved WoS and could never figure out why the reviews were so bad for it. I pulled the trigger on the SAVE50 with this as my used game last week, and it came in the mail today. After only finishing the tutorial, I can't wait to play more. It's very different from WoS, but very good so far anyway. Just my $.02 for anyone who might be on the fence...esp with that trade-in value from Amazon, this should be a no-brainer.
Anyone know how frequently used games come incomplete (without case and instructions) from gamestop?
They typically come complete (minus the instruction booklet if it's an older game).. it's the condition of the case/booklet/disc you should be worried about.
can you go for the 60% off and cancel your preorder after?
you can always cancel a preorder

They trashed it because it sucked. The only good quality about it was the combat, everything else blew. The open world was boring as usual, and Spidey's voice was the worst of any Spidey game ever. Then you have Powerman teaching Spiderman how to be Spiderman and Wolverine spouting trivia questions. It was better than Spiderman 3, but that's like saying getting stabbed in the eye is better than having acid poured on it.

I've heard mostly good things about Shattered Dimensions, but the best thing I've heard is that it's closer to the first Spiderman game on Playstation, which imo is still the best Spidey game ever made. I've had my eye on Gamestop's website for several days since they're listing it at $39.99, and have only seen it in stock once, and that was this past Saturday, and it was only for the 360 version. I jumped on it for $32.04 with tax and shipping.

I also inquired at my local B&M Gamestop about the preorder bonus hoping they might have a code lying around. The clerk couldn't find anything, so he called across the street at another Gamestop to see if they had any. Turns out the code to redeem the Captain Universe costume was printed on the receipt when you preordered. The clerk then asked which version I bought, and then printed out a preorder slip for the game through the register! I didn't think this would be possible since the game is already on shelves, but it worked and now I've got the preorder bonus waiting for my used copy to arrive in the mail. Not too shabby, and while gamestop gets a lot of flack for pushy employees and such, some of them are truly wonderful, and will go out of their way to help you.

For anyone looking for another opinion, I'll share mine. I've beaten the game. Gave me about 9-10 hours of play the first time around.

I certainly didn't find myself missing the sandbox New York that we've had in the past several iterations of Spider-Man. This one was definitely better than Web of Shadows for me. I did enjoy Web of Shadows, though. Anyway, the game isn't completely linear, as it is broken into 4 segments - acts 1, 2 and 3, and then the final encounter. You can choose the order of the dimensions you tackle, for each segment. The levels run the grind from exceptional to mediocre, but nothing really bad.

The combat is pretty poor, and there's very little variation in enemy types. Each stage seems to have 3 types - weak, strong and giant, all relating to the boss's theme.

The different dimensions have a lot of variation as far as aesthetics go, but all the Spider-Men play similarly, with each dimension having a slight twist. Voice acting is superb for each and every Spider-Man. Replay value will depend on how much of a Spider-Freak you are.

Shattered Dimensions is a game I could see myself MAYBE playing through again, but only because I love Spidey. But it's definitely something I'd like to have in my collection for 15 bucks :).

I liked Web of Shadows more aswell. WoS isnt NEARLY as bad as some make it out to be. Its quite good. and go look at gamespots review for it as i agree 100% with their take.

Now Shattered Dimensions on the other hand.. is OVER rated... its not nearly that big of an Improvment over WoS. The swinging is terrible, controls, combat and camera are all poor.

The only good things its got going over WoS is the voice acting and cinematic flare/presentation of it all. A more focused gameplay style also helps, But I prefer to have fun when im playing as Spider-Man. This wasnt fun after the first 3 hours. WoS was pretty fun through out I must say.

Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions - Over rated Glitch fest
Spider-Man WoS - under rated gem, that you can get on the cheap!

Like I said, I liked both games, but WoS was WAAAY more glitchy than SD, and the bosses were completely uninspired. The only areas WoS trumped SD were in the combat and web swinging.

I'm waiting for this to drop further. As for Web of Shadows, I just rented it and finished it a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't NEARLY as bad as most made it sound. It's biggest fault is that Act 3 dragged on for far too long; the combat got repetitive in this act, as did the obnoxious side missions that were required in Act 3(escort etc). I can't complain about it too much because I DID have fun with it for the 8 or so hours I got from it.
