Yeah I don't know how I feel about Pre-ordering at Amazon anymore.
Yeah but they also have this, even though it's only good through the release day:

Pre-Order Price Guarantee
"Amazon.com's price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and shipped. Whenever you pre-order a... video game... the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you place your order and the release date. The order summary in Your Account will reflect the lowest price within 24 hours of the price change.

If your order enters the shipping process before the release date and the price is lowered on the release date, we will automatically refund your credit card for the difference between the price you were charged and the release-date price"...
WTF, when did that change?
Almost a year ago , if not more.

I honestly can't remember exactly when they stopped the 30 day price match, but it was easily before the 2010 calender year.

I think the last eligible date was August 31st, 2008.
After that, buyer beware.
No, I mean the part about them not adjusting preorder prices when they drop, which certaintly seems to be what that first policy suggests.
???

The thing you commented to was the post-order price match.

Pre-orders get adjusted to the lowest price between the time you pre-order and when the item ships.

price change AFTER buying has been gone since Sept 08.

Price change protection BEFORE item ships on video game preorders is still in effect. You usually don't even need to complain. They do it automatically. I got 40 cents back once.

oh, and it doesn't go retro. So for example, Split Second was $46 but went back up to $55(?). If you ordered at $55, they won't give you a lower price before you ordered it.

HOWEVER, people think they can get money back on items that drop in price after it ships and then they bitch to amazon.

There's no reason to bitch even since they post their price matching policy. And while they won't refund you money directly, if it's within 30 days and the price dropped enough it can be worth re-ordering again and sending back the original order (to ship back unwanted games is like $5).
